OK Hotel. Not the best. Not the worst. 8.5/10

The location is quite nice, nestled in nature with a beautiful surrounding area that includes two types of pools and a beach. The restaurant near the beach is pleasant and reasonably priced, and the breakfast is exactly what you’d expect from a hotel at this level. A major highlight was the massage—it was great! However, the place is only 'okay' overall. Once you see the Paradise Resort nearby, you realize what a resort in this setting is actually supposed to look like.

Value for Money: This is not a cheap hotel, so I expected a more premium experience than what was provided. Room Issues: While the room was spacious, the TV was surprisingly small. Booking Discrepancy: We didn't receive the room we originally booked. We ordered a forest view with a balcony but were given a garden view without one. (Note: This may have been a misunderstanding between the booking site and the hotel). Staff Service: I found the staff quite difficult to deal with, which echoes previous reviews I've read. Interestingly, the general staff members were much more cooperative and helpful than the team at the reception desk.

Nice location, just need to be more gracious.

Provide all necessary drinking water without charge. Hotel only provides guest with 2 personal sized bottles of water, anything more and they charge you. Pretty ridiculous since we cannot drink tap water without getting sick. They also act like guests want to steal everything in their rooms. What is going on here?

Small and beautifullly thought out hotel and layout. Excellent location right on the beach and the grounds are lush, exotic and beautifully kept. Resident Water Monitors roam the grounds which was a little disconcerting when you first encounter them but harmless and very amusing. Rooms are extremely comfortable with absolutely everything you could need. Breakfasts were very good indeed. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Would definitely return.

Just a small gripe from a smoker... only one place to smoke right down on the beach and no area to sit there with a drink. A problem throughout Thailand.

Amazing semi-secluded property on the quieter part of the beach. The sunset views !

We had an amazing time at this property. It is much less built up than some others on this beach and the different buildings are much better integrated in the local nature. The overall impression is that it feels much less crowded than some of the gigantic resorts right around the corner. If you are looking for peace and tranquility this is definitely the place to go on Khao Lak beach. The hotel restaurant on the beach has amazing views towards the quieter part of the beach. And for all your guided trips, car transfers and other local information talk to the lady who runs the Andalay bar & restaurant right next door. She can arrange anything.

The staff at the hotel are very friendly but they are clearly on a very short leash and aren't allowed to deviate from 'the rules' and 'the process'. I suspect this comes right down from the owner. But it takes away that special something you get in real boutique hotels where the staff feels free to go the extra step to help you. You can only hear so many times 'the rule is...', 'our rule is...' 'you must do this...' And when you arrive at 2pm and right off the bat they tell us that they are breaking the rules by letting us have access to our rooms early (instead of 3PM) when the rooms are ready anyway, it feels like they misunderstand what hospitality is.

Peaceful friendly and perfect spot

The Wanaburee resort is at the far end of khao lak but an easy walk of 10 minutes into the centre. The benefits of this are that the hotel is peaceful and very beautifully set on the edge of a national park. Green plant life with birds and wildlife to see. Beaches are clean. The breakfast was lovely and consistent with lots of choice. The room we had over looked a pond. There is a restaurant on the beach and a choice of 2 pools. This is not a big and everything included hotel. But if you are after friendly helpful staff a quiet atmosphere and a good breakfast and choice of food at the restaurant a 10 minute walk from town then this is the hotel for you.

Warm, pleasant, luxurious, beautiful, .....

The hospitality of the staff was excellent. The way they welcomed us was really nice. They wanted us to feel home away from home. And they did everything to accomplish this. Also breakfast, lunch & dinner was very nice. We certainly enjoyed the cocktails! ;-) On top of that, it's such a beautiful resort!!!

Beautiful beach escape away from crowds

Beautiful beachfront property, nestled amongst lush rainforest / jungle setting. well laid out and comfoetable. Nicely unpopulated, quiet area, but still only a 10 -15 min walk or short 100baht bike or open taxi ride to Khao Lak centre. Direct access to gorgeous, quiet beach, with easy and quick tsunami evacuation route to high ground. Staff were lovely.

Dinner service / meal quality a bit hit and miss. Beach Restaurant roofing poorly designed so no escaping big rain. This could be easily rectified with just one more sheet of roofing iron.

Beach front, quiet, nice pool, and private.

The communication from the resort was poor. We enquired about a transfer from the airport; however, we did not confirm, however, a taxi was sent to the airport anyway. We made other arrangements. Before arrival at the resort from the airport the resort emailed us and requested, we call them. They tried to pressure us to return to the airport to take taxi they had wrongly arranged. We advised them over the phone this was not possible. On arrival at the hotel the staff were very argumentative and tried to pressure us to pay any out of pockets. We refused pointing to communication exchanges. The manager finally agreed to look into this the following day as it was late, and we were tired. However, this matter remained unresolved for the rest of our stay. This made us feel uncomfortable for the duration of our stay.

This hotel is great, I don't really want people to know about it 😃

I chose the hotel because it was close to Khaolak lam ru National Park. I didn't expect the hotel to be so nice. It was not too big. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was so quiet and peaceful there. Beautiful rooms and garden. Lovely raised swimming pool. Good breakfast and a lovely beachfront restaurant where we had most of our meals for a reasonable price. The staff were excellent. Sali at reception was so bubbly and caring. She went out of her way to make all the guests comfortable. She was even at the beach restaurant at night to help out. She made hot ginger tea for one of us eho was not feeling well.

The resort can be a bit of a problem for the elderly and physically handicapped because of the stairs leading to reception and the breakfast restaurant.

An absolutely enjoyable stay with fantastic staff.

Everything. We had a Manor room which was beautiful and comfortable. housekeeping service was excellent. Restaurant staff have an excellent service with a plentiful and good breakfast. The reception team were excellent and Orawan was amazing, so helpful and attentive through out our stay. Location is good with a short walk to town. the beach and pool areas were clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend and return when in Khao Lak.

Incredibly friendly staff, nice, clean and spacious bungalows

Although I was the only guest there, the property was very well maintained and the staff were oh so friendly and happy to serve. I was also upgraded which was a nice guesture. Nice pools, grounds and beach.

The bathroom in my particular bungalow had no window covers on the inside and were only partially covered on the outside by a wooden fence which was not very high. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to the town centre.

I have never been to a resort so beautiful in such a gorgeous setting. I would love to go back.

Breakfast was served on the beach. Presentation was beautiful; choices were varied. Food was delicious and staff people were friendly and helpful. I loved everything! The resort is located in a rainforest right next to a beach. Bungalows are tastefully designed to fit into the wooded environment and nicely furnished in an elegant, minimalist, but comfortable way, with plenty of privacy because of the plantings. There are two swimming pools, one with a view of the ocean. Everything is very well maintained even with the low number of travelers because of covid restrictions. It’s a fantastic place.

Boutique resort, beautifully maintained with great staff

Our stay here was excellent. The staff were brilliant, friendly and attentive (the new year's card and chocolates were a lovely touch) and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The resort has a boutique feel to it - the rooms are well designed, spacious, with the useful amenities you'd expect in a 5 star resort, and the breakfast was copious, in the beachside restaurant. We ate all our meals there and the food was very tasty. There are two pools, one on the beachfront. The beach and grounds were kept immaculately clean. If we return to Khao Lak, this will definitely be our resort of choice!
