We had a great week with Alison and Danny (and all the animals) at their homestay! Alison helped us with getting our IRD Numbers, opening a bank account, and searching for a vehicle. She was also helpful with general knowledge, tips, etc. Danny is a very funny guy and fun to talk to as well, especially about movies. We also got along with all the other guests staying at the house -- playing card games every night! Thank you Alison and Danny for providing a warm, inviting, and supportive space for travelers like us. P.S. Be sure to sign their guest book! Oh and it's probably not a bad idea to rent a car from the airport while you're there -- we used "rental cars 24/7"

From the moment you step in, it feels like you're part of a family. Alison and Danny put a lot of effort into the place and making everyone feel welcome, and they will help you with anything you might need for your time in NZ. Good chats, game nights, cute dogs, what else can you ask for?

The best place to start your WHV from

The perfect place to start your Working Holiday Visa year is definitely Alison and Danny’s! Alison is THE BEST host one can ever wish for - she already gave us tips before our arrival and she continued to offer help throughout our time with them. She’s also one of the funniest and nicest people we’ve ever met and we’ll truly miss her company! The accomodation itself is also perfect for the price and the level of hospitality. Be mindful about the very few rules and the fact that it’s their own home. Also, bear in mind that 4 lovely dogs will great you and will want some love when you arrive home or enter the living room in the morning. And you can also meet 3 super cute cats around the house. (: Alison, we’ll be forever grateful for and to you!

We liked the cozy cabin and the friendly hosts.Whenever we needed help Allison and Danny would help us .They also gave us some useful advice for the generel life in New Zealand. It was a lovely stay and we would do it again .

What a perfect start for our Kiwi journey !

Alison and Danny (and all the pets) were super welcoming and make you feel easily at home. Alison gives a lot of advice and knows how to help you with your beginning of your Working Holiday Visa. It is a huge plus when you come from the other side of the world and you are a little bit lost : here she is! Animal lovers : this place is for you! You will meet lovely dogs and cats who will ask for a lot of cuddles 🐾 You will share your stay with other travellers and backpackers and you can make friends there. Théo and I highly recommend to stay in this place!

It was the best place to start our adventure in New Zealand. Alison and Danny are lovely people, so much help, kindness and good vibes ! We highly recommend !

Not Bad at all.

Alison helped us a lot during our stay and made us feel very welcomed and safe. The kitchen has very good knifes (better than in any hostel) for cooking and the kitchen is overall good. We had several fun evenings in the group, playing games or eating pizza and we met very nice French guests! (Good luck on your travels Theo, Marie, Dany and Cassandra!)

We want to mention that this accommodation is not your usual introverted-unpersonal homestay but a place of talking, laughing and interaction. That is not a negative thing (we found that to be very positive!) but it might not be fitting everyone. And the blankets are a bit thin, but the bed and upstairs room is very comfortable.

Feel like home

Booking Alison and Danny’s place was one of the best decisions we made when we arrived. We got a very warm welcome and a lot of good advices ❤️ They have a lovely home with cute pets, surrounded by nature, (you can even see glowing worms at night close by 😍) plus you’ll find some small shops around and a shopping mall a bit further. To go to Auckland Center you can take a bus (the stop is 5’ walking) or if you prefer they also have a very comfy car, that you can rent for hours or a day, to go the city, the beach, etc) Plus, Alison is a car expert and have a lot of experience, so you might want to ask for her advice if looking to buy a vehicle. You won’t regret it. Thanks Alison and Danny for this experience, we will definitely come back to Kiwi Host.

Alisson and Danny are so nice. I feel less lonely when we had a talk. They made me feel so homey like you come back and see your parents asking how was your day, it's warm-hearted. Dogs and cats are so cute too, I enjoy looking at them playing with each other.

You have a timer at bathroom for 7 min but don’t worry nobody will tell you you’re been there so long. And I absolutely get it it’s their home and their rules Your space will be little cold in autumn and winter but Alison will give you anything to be alright ✌️

Awesome experience

A single review is not enough to describe my stay at Kiwi Hosts. I spent 2 beautiful weeks there. Alison and Danny are a lovely couple always willing to help you. At their place there is everything you need, including heaps of laughs and nice conversations. Just 20 minutes from the CBD by bus. If you are around Auckland, Kiwi Hosts is the place to stay. Highly recommended.

A warm kiwi welcome to Auckland

Alison and Danny were fantastic hosts! They kept us laughing the whole week which helped alleviate the stress we had in our search for a room and jobs! They were very welcoming and supportive in getting us started in Auckland. Both are very approachable and always available to help. It is a cozy house and a great place to meet fellow travellers. Having pets around was also a plus as we love animals!

Bed was uncomfortable. We felt micromanaged by the host. One bathroom between 6 people. We booked two rooms and then was told we booked the outside shed (room) but was not mentioned when booking it. Very misleading.

Rest spot in Glenfield

Awesome hosts really friendly and welcoming, clean bathroom and kitchen. Space is small but warm and cosy and private. Really nice setting, loads of birds and trees. Will definitely recommend and stay here again! Cheers Alison and Danny!

Sehr netter Empfang durch die Hostel Betreiberin für meinen Sohn, der sein work and travel Abenteuer dort begonnen hat. Während des ganzen Aufenthaltes hat sie sich liebevoll um alles gekümmert und geholfen, wo es nur ging. Dafür bin ich sehr dankbar. Kleines gemütliches Gartenhaus zum Schlafen und für ein wenig Privatsphäre ideal. Gemeinschaftsräume sind vorhanden, so dass man andere Mitreisende treffen und sich austauschen kann. Ausgezeichnete Unterstützung beim Start in Neuseeland. Herzlichen Dank dafür. Kann ich wärmstens empfehlen. Würde es auf jeden Fall noch einmal buchen.

Es war alles bestens und es gibt nicht's zu beanstanden. So eine nette Unterstützung bekommt man nur selten.
