Piha beach stay is worth staying at

Loved the nice view and how quiet it was at the piha beachstay. Very friendly staff. Plenty of room to eat and sit in the share lounge/ kitchen area. Bed was clean and comfortable. Beach a short drive away. There are some great walks amongst nature to explore. This place was well set up.

Quiet retreat

Environment. Location. Settings. The big shared kitchen and living room. Big terrace also. The ensuite room (nikau) with the private terrace to enjoy the sun, the calm and read.

Very poor and disappointing.

There were good facilities; particularly the kitchen that was well stocked with probably everything you need!

The bed had several blood stains. Very unhygienic and completely unacceptable. We only checked our sheets before sleeping (and it was very late at night), so we had to put towels on the bed to sleep. In the morning, we highlighted the issue to the staff present. Instead of accepting the issue and a proper apology, he said it was probably dye (when it is definitely not). There was no attempt made at service recovery. Separately, there was also limited parking spaces available (including the overflow carpark). Smaller problem but was definitely harder to park and get our luggages out. Given that the stay was not cheap at all, it was definitely unacceptable. We had far superior experiences elsewhere paying alot less.

Great vibe, great location

The location was amazing - 10 mins walk to the beach and 25 mins walk to Kitekite falls. It was exceptionally clean, great staff and overall vibe. Highly recommend!

The rooms got very hot as there's no AC or fans.

great hostel with beautiful suroundings

I loved every second of my stay! Comfortable beds, well equiped kitchen, great people and a dog, cat and chicken strolling around the house from time to time. Garden is quite and peaceful and great to relax in.

Just a really nice place with lovely people

The Piha Beachstay has exceeded my expections, the whole house was very clean, lots of space for cooking, eating, just hanging out or planning the next hike, also a very big garden with a beautiful view. You are kinda directly in the nature but still have a very good and clean place, also the Jeff and his team are really friendly. There are also some hikes nearby which you can easily access by foot also the beach is not that far.

Just staying one night, but that was completly our fault ;) And in the 6 bed room was not that much space for the bags, but was managable.

Wonderfully situated hostel with everything needed, in walking distance to Piha Beach.

As usual, in shared kitchen you have to find good timing for having access to all needed amenities, but all was available.

Clean, comfortable stay with great access to nature

I had a great stay here. The place was clean, cozy, and had a very comfortable vibe. The Wi-Fi worked well, and the kitchen facilities were tidy and well maintained. Sunny outdoor area and so much widlife around the area. Parking was easy and free, which was a big plus. It’s also within walking distance to the Kitekite Falls track, making it a perfect spot for exploring the area.

The room was a little smaller than expected, and while the location is stunning, it can feel a bit remote if you don’t have a car.

Finding peace within oneself at Piha Beachstay

It is a beautiful property, so peaceful, clean, friendly people and animals. Would highly recommend to anyone trying to connect to nature. Close to waterfall, beach and all attractions.

Piha close to Kitekite track

Beautiful, clean, cosy shared common spaces with kitchen, games, lots of seating and information.

The wall of the green room is next to (attached to?) the kitchen counter, and everything someone does in the kitchen (open and close drawers, chop tomatoes etc) you hear quite well in the room. I wouldn't have been able to sleep without earplugs. That said, with earplugs, I didn't have a problem, and the accommodation was great, and good value for money.

Peace in Paradise

Peaceful. You could hear a pin drop. The room itself had no facilities (except ensuite) but it opened to a communal large lounge , dining and kitchen area. The staff were lovely. Unfortunately it was raining during our stay so we didn't use the BBQ facilities our outdoor decks. We were the only people there except for an exchange couple who welcomed us. (Working there). There is a stream that runs behind the house, which was nice to cross to the hens who provide the home with fresh eggs. Close to the beach and restaurants but because of the rain we drove to all these places. We had a lovely lunch at the surf club and dinner at the RSA as everything else had closed because of the weather. Both meals were great. Would stay again.

Not a deal breaker but it is a Communal TV/lounge. . We felt a bit uncomfortable as an older couple when returning from dinner and the other couple were settled into a movie. Because of the weather it would have been nice to come back to our room and watch a movie( which we ended up doing on my phone🤣)

Relaxing green oasis :)

The Pihs Beachstay is a lovely accomodation in Piha. The whole premise is beautiful and it's a little relaxing green oasis with wonderful mountain views. The dorm room had a lot of space and bathroom facilities have been clean and were well equipped. The kitchen/dining/lounge area is a nice open space with plenty of room and well equipped. The team was really lovely and it was a really relaxed stay with a beautiful vibe. Would have loved to stay longer.

Nice house with various shared rooms ( ours with en suite).

Hosts were very lovely. Room was nice. Great shower ( over a bath, so expect to step up & over). The house is nice, but be aware it’s more like an upmarket hostel type thing where you share the lounge , dining & kitchen areas. Not exactly what we expected. Very nice place , if not getting a bit dated, so wasn’t a problem. Met some nice people. It was a treat to have a cat to Pat & a doggy to say hello to!

Compared to other places we’ve stayed, it was pretty expensive for the room. But, it is in Piha!

What a lovely place!

This place is amazing. It’s so comfortable, cute and feels like home. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, especially Jeff! The kitchen & living room area is beautiful and super clean, you will meet other great travelers. The terrace and garden are absolutely beautiful and its a great place to calm down. You will meet lots of healthy and cute chickens on the property. We absolutely loved this place & will be back soon!

We loved our stay at Piha Beachstay - we only had one night but wished we’d stayed longer! Friendly staff (and pets!), awesome and huge lounge area with fire place, big kitchen with everything and more to cook with and a really comfy bed. Highly recommended!
