It was a very pleasant and cosy place and I enjoyed my stay, However, I didn't think it deserved the 4 star rating
The quality of the physical environment (furniture, facilities etc) and the refreshment stuff provided was not great

Cozy clean room in a lovely old pub in the centre of Henley.

Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Great location for town centre.

For the daily rate, it would have been nice to include breakfast
The layers of dust - on the curtain rails which didn’t work properly as a result of the layers of dust … the dangerous outside stairs on the back entrance - would need to be powerhouses to clear the build up of damp which made it very slippy

Beautiful old pub,so much charm and atmosphere right in the centre of town
No coffee machine or biscuits in the room, for the sake of may be £5 a night extra I’m sure it would be a good investment, peaple expect a decent coffee first thing in bed as you don’t offer breakfast

The location was very central for the purpose of my visit.
The town is difficult for parking

Great location for Henley town, comfy, clean rooms, very friendly staff.
Quaint old building which just means the walls are a bit thin.

The Row Barge is a nice pub close to Henley town centre. We ate Pizza from the restaurant and had a drink in the bar which was good.
The attic room we stayed in was comfortable, but with low sloping walls and ceiling and the door opened straight on to steep narrow steps, so not suitable for everyone.

Charming and welcoming – we absolutely loved our stay here! If we find ourselves back in Henley, we’ll definitely be returning

Great welcome from a friendly landlord. Cracking old pub full of character. Very friendly customers! Comfy bed & good shower.
Slight surprise that there was not a door between en-suite & bedroom - but then it’s a very ancient building & it would be difficult to fit one 😃

Super location in Henley itself.

I booked the room for two friends visiting from Australia. They wanted to stay in a traditional English pub for the atmosphere and were delighted.
When I went to join them, they were ensconsed in the bar with a few of the locals. And that is the real delight of this pub, it is tucked away in a quiet street in Henley town centre and it is still the "local" and welcoming to visitors at the same time.
One thing I did forget is that my friends were a bit elderly, getting up and down the narrow staircases was a bit of a challenge. But hey, it's a 16th century timebr framed building, so it's not that they didn't like it, they just had to allow a bit of time to head up or down.

All good

The property is full of character, which means very narrow and steep stairs with low headroom. In a quiet location (no parking). Bed very comfortable. Tea and coffee in the room.
Staff were great. Easy check in/check out. We were able to check in early.
The narrow steep stairs.
No breakfast included or available.

Only the location
We stayed in Room 2 which was twin beds and tiny corridor type bathroom with v small shower. The shower was SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS AND WAS STEAMING HOT WITH NO POSSIBILITY OF REDUCING THE HEAT. I complained to the owner as I was unable to control the shower. There were no warnings or instruction and he acknowledged that it was “tricky”. I could have sustained third degree burns had I not got out immediately that I turned it on. Elderly or children would have been scalded.
I am
A solicitor and I would have sued them had I been burnt it was so dangerous.
The room was poor with tired old pine furniture and lacking in any nice touches. It was £200 presumably because it was Henley Festival.
It was not even worth £50 but the main issue was the inability to have a shower on a very hot weekend. I did not feel the owner had any care for his guests and this is a real breach of his public liability duty of care.
No effort to refund any money or offer a solution. My husband did not even attempt the shower after my concerns.
Very poor attitude and dangerous facilities

The location is excellent and the barman was very helpful and friendly. He took our luggage upstairs
The stairs leading to the rooms were very steep and in a curve. Difficult to get up and down. Very expensive. No breakfast available. Car parking very difficult and on a steep one way street. Room was very hot with no fan

Lovely, friendly, quirky little inn. Great beer garden. Excellent price.
Could have had more toiletries, more milk and coffee. Not a lot of parking but we managed okay.

The staff were very friendly.
The room wasnt very clean, and the furniture was very scruffy. I appreciate that the building is very old, but I think people should be made aware that it isnt very good for people with walking disabilities.

Great location and a very comfortable bed
No shower, hot water in the sink and no breakfast, although that’s understandable as there were only 4 rooms

We loved the hotel. It’s a fantastic pub with very quirky furniture. A really warm welcome from the amazing staff and also the customers were friendly too. It’s a dog friendly place and we were greeted by the dogs when we came back after dinner.
Did I mention I absolutely love this place. No complaints.

Comfortable bed. Clean. Quiet.
Parking. I had to leave car in a short stay car park and walk, although it wasn’t far I wasn’t sure of the area. However I used the app at the car park and even though I didn’t pay at night it reminded me in the morning at 8am to add money to pay for car parking.
