Great views good location
Unfortunately the cleanliness of our room wasn’t great, stains on the walls and in the toilet bowl, hair on the shower walls and our heating did not work so the room was cold. We were brought a plug in heater, but this also would trip after a short time. We were not told the checkout time upon arrival, so I followed the 10:30am instruction on booking.com, I then received a knock on the door at 10:10am saying we’d missed checkout. Breakfast option were limited with essential a fry up or veggie fry up. And the bar closes pretty early at 9pm for a weekend. All in all wouldn’t stay again.

Lovely guy that now owns the place he took it over in October he's Italian and is now starting to put a nice Italian theme on things. Lovely food would highly recommend. Lovely open fire. Dog friendly and a lovely comfortable feeling around the place. Will most definitely be revisiting in the near future

Cosy vibes as soon as you walked in, fire was roaring. The staff were very welcoming. Great location. Close to hiking routes and Hathersage Centre. Easy free parking right across the road.
Bedroom was a little cold when we first walked in but soon warmed up once we got the radiators on, plus we had a little heater for extra warmth.
Beer was a little pricey.

Lovely location, great staff and the food was lovely. Rooms were very clean. The bar/restaurant was very cozy and warm. Excellent value for money and will definitely be returning.

Arrangements for access to bedrooms overnight were unsatisfactory. Guests are expected to use a door with faulty lock, leading straight out onto a busy A road. There are no staff on site overnight and they lock the pub up early when business is quiet. The bedroom smelt strongly of fried food and was badly maintained. I did not feel secure and checked out. Had to pay for alternative accommodation elsewhere and there was no gesture of goodwill from staff.

Great hosting, good food and overall a really enjoyable stay. Views are superb. Loved the sofas and fire.
If you are a bit lazy like me, bit too far for me to walk into Hathersage for a drink but if you have been out for the day then lovely area available to settle in front of the fire.

The manager and support staff were friendly and super attentive, both at check in, at breakfast and check out.
A slightly wider cooked breakfast offer, perhaps overtly championing local produce (bacon was great sausages not so).

Clean Bar, communal area's and room. The meals were spot on for the price. The Bank House bar in Hathersage, the menu was priced a lot higher but were restaurant quality.
The staff were very friendly and helpful .
Plenty of tea, coffee etc in room.
Hathersage is a 15min walk down the hill, about 20mins back up if you walk it.
We stayed in the " Little John " room, the mattress was thin and the bed quite hard.
Don't know if all rooms are like that.

It was excellent.

Bedroom nice decor and clean
Bathroom plain but clean
bar/lounge /restaurant poor, not very clean/upto date/presentable
Electric fire in lounge - not real fire as advertised
Carpet /floor dirty
Breakfast - continental poor choice and presentation, only bran flakes as cereal option, no yoghurt or porridge or choice of cereal
Cooked breakfast tasted good but literally "full english " or "vegetarian" printed on sheet of A4
Breakfast only served til 9.30am on New Years Day despite being advertised as 11am
Bar service very slow and disorganised, waited almost half an hour for a drink to be brought to us

Extremely friendly and accommodating staff - even to our very appreciative dog.
Clean room, with a great layout for kids as they had a separate room off ours. Plenty of space. We had dinner and breakfast there and both were delicious. Comfortable beds.

This Hotel was a nice hotel and in a beautiful position, nestled away in a hillside. Plenty of parking across the road.
The room was clean and tidy and suitable for a family of three. The food was nice, and the staff were very friendly. We had a bit of a wait due to a large group of Carol Singers but this was in fact a lovely touch in the end. Carols by the fire. We found out that this hotel had been taken over recently and were in the midst of change. I think this one will be one to watch out for as the manager has big plans I believe. All in all a nice stay !
A little understaffed but certainly made up for it in the end.
Could do with a little upgrade in certain areas.

From the moment we walked through the door we were met by really friendly staff. We were early as we were attending a wedding nearby. Our room wasn't ready but they gave us a key and showed us where our room was and how to get in after hours. They also carried all our luggage to the room for when we arrived after the wedding. The bed was really comfy, towels and bedding pristine and plenty of hot water. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Great place to stay, the views are lovely.

Lovely function room, which was just right for our needs. Our room and bathroom were very nice, just lacking in a few little details which would make a big difference. Dario and staff were very attentive and anxious to please. Dario went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience and was extremely helpful, as well as being very nice to talk to.
The evening meals were good but a little limited in scope. I would like to see a higher standard of restaurant. Hathersage is a lovely Peak District village and could certainly support a better class of restaurant. Breakfast was very limited if you prefer continental. I would like to see some fresh fruit, plain yoghurt, porridge/muesli, croissants/muffins etc. I suggest the owner should stay in a Premier Inn and sample their breakfast, and also note the amenities in the rooms - a shelf in the bathroom, a tumbler, hooks for coats, a table/surface on which to put own 'stuff'.

Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. My favourite was definitely the roast beef and yorkshire pudding on Sunday. It was an excellent base for some great walks including Padley Gorge and Stanage Edge. The staff were all really nice and helpful.
Nothing really. One cannot do much about the weather!

Very friendly service, gorgeous view, nice warm bathroom, nice clean bedding, good parking , good value.
Found bedroom slightly cold, just because an old building with lovely old windows I think, a wee bit out of town but I guess that is why good value.

Good breakfast, as expected.
Tired property.. Room was v.cold , rad wasn't on at all ( couldn't turn on) And it was v cold out . Evening, room was freezing. Bed's uncomfortable so not a great sleep!

The location was good, set in beautiful countryside. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
The water pressure in the bathroom was unpredictable; and there was a stain on the floor. The TV was unreliable and some of the main channels were not available. There was only one bedside light, presumably because the power socket was not working. There could have been more choice of food offered at breakfast( for example: there was no fruit or non-dairy milk) Our request for poached eggs was declined. The quality of the food served in the evening was disappointing, considering the price.

Clean rooms, lovely bar/restaurant, landlord really friendly, helpful and welcoming. Great location for walking Stanage Edge and other walks. Would definitely stay here again!
It was the new landlord and staff’s first day so there were a few small hiccups but that will change once things settle.

Well-appointed, clean and nicely decorated room with a super comfortable bed. The bathroom was stylish and immaculately clean. The whole place was warm and inviting. Very dog friendly too.
The busy road outside the room window was loud as vehicles were traveling too fast, approaching the national speed limit signs. That's not the hotel's fault though.

Right from turning up and a carpark with a view to die for …then walking through the door and we had lovely welcome , our room was spacious and the bed and pillows so comfy, great shower and fabulous views, cooked breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day, evening meals were also delicious… all staff from managers , breakfast staff , chefs, bar staff and cleaner all made our stay so much nicer , what a fabulous friendly hardworking team they have there , the whole downstairs is cosy and welcoming and sitting by the log burner after a hike with a cuppa and slice of delicious daily cake , just brilliant , we also lucky enough to be there for Friday steak night and a band to follow …. Brilliant !!!
First night I didn’t sleep as the inn is near the road but easily fixed by getting ear plugs , then I slept like a log!!!
I totally didn’t like to hear that as we would happily returned to see the team again!!! That they have been given a weeks notice for new owners so it wouldn’t be the same and we will no longer want to return here again .. very disappointed for the fabulous team and atmosphere they have created …..
