Breakfast at 9 a little early !

Good location and friendly service, nice food at reasonable price for tea .
The room and bathroom was reasonably clean but really needed a good look at ,lots of broken bits and shabby decorations, skirting boards in bathroom in a terrible state .
Went for breakfast at 8.30 am and was very disappointed with amount and quality, only four choices on buffet, dry sausage and bacon ,mushrooms and another empty offering but not sure what was there .Toast was DIY but nice .

Great location. A warm welcome was given to us. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely warm and comfortable room. Roomy and clean. Very comfortable bed and high quality soft furnishings. Breakfast was plentiful- a hot buffet style. Vast choice- excellent quality. Evening food was equally great quality.Superb value for money in every respect.
Ian- Manager and his team work exceptionally hard to ensure all guests have a comfortable stay. Thanks to them all.

Perfect location in lovely Hathersage. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a cottage, which was beautifully laid out and incredibly comfortable and warm, with everything we needed for a weekend stay. The staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was delicious and abundant. We ate in the bar one evening and the meals were huge, with an assortment of homemade pies available - yum - exactly what we needed after a day hiking. All in all the stay was great value and we’ll definitely be back!
That our stay had to end.

Location
Check was at 2pm, I arrived at 6pm and room was still not ready. TV never worked and they couldn’t get it to work. Food was poor and breakfast was greasy, bread was stale. I’ve stayed here before and see how much it has declined, so won’t go back!

The hotel is well located in Hathersage, with everything right on the doorstep. The small free car park was an added bonus.
The staff were very helpful , friendly and welcoming and offered some of their local knowledge.
The room we stayed in (Maid Marian) was spotlessly clean, warm , the bed was so comfortable and we had a really good nights sleep.
Breakfast was plentiful , hot and tasty, with a good selection of cereals, fruit, toast and traditional English breakfast items.
We didn’t eat in the bar but the food looked great and comments from diners appeared to be good.
Loved the log burner it gave it a lovely cozy feel to the bar area, especially during a particular cold spell
We entered the hotel/bar from the rear car park and the first impression wasnt great and didn’t really reflect the overall experience of the place. It would be better if the log burner was set up in there and would benefit a little TLC. I didn’t think it was a very appealing dining area. This is a dog friendly bar/hotel however this should not compromise the cleanliness.

Even though there was radiator in bedroom and bathroom. The room was still cold as it’s so big
Floors was not mopped very well and had patches of dirt on arrival
Also the shower there was an old lid of a shampoo bottle in shower so although it was cleaned and mainly ok. Attention to detail not great

We had a very clean, warm, cosy room in an outside building, away from the bar.
Ian the manager, Emma, and all the staff worked tirelessly to ensure our stay was perfect.
Very dog friendly too, our spaniel Ruby was treated like a member of the family.
We stayed over NYE and saw the new year in with this great bunch of people. Nothing was too much trouble, and yes, they still got up early to feed us all the hot buffet breakfast with a smile on their face.
Nothing, all was good.

Location is brilliant. Loved our room, large with large bathroom. Good choice of food for breakfast.
The bedroom needs bedside lamps rather than the overhead spotlights which are not soft or relaxing. The bathroom smelled sewagey the whole time we were there, which was unpleasant. Shame that the breakfast only offered instant coffee - we had to go to a local cafe for proper coffee.

The Little John Hotel provided excellent value for money for our party of six people with our room being perfectly adequate for the two night duration of our stay. The all you can eat breakfast was deliciously cooked and set us up perfectly for a strenuous hike up to Stanage Edge!!! We also had a great evening in the bar on the hotel’s games night!!!!
Ian and his team of hardworking staff looked after us all fabulously throughout our visit.
Our party would definitely recommend this hotel as an excellent venue for a short break and we are all in agreement that we would be happy to return in the future.

The staff made the hotel. Ian particularly. The level of customer service was excellent. He was constantly available and always with a smile. Breakfast was good and although very busy in the evening so was the food and service. We were served by Emma who again was extremely welcoming and friendly. These two people really were what made our stay enjoyable. Being retired Publicans ourselves we know that a business survives and thrives on the dedication and hard work of its staff. We hope the owners realise they’ve got great management here going above and beyond to give excellent service.

The hotel was busy but staff coped well. Our room was lovely and very clean . WiFi was excellent we ate here in the evening and the food was slow to arrive but freshly cooked and very tasty. The buffet breakfast was continously refreshed with options for guests with special dietary requirements. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. The price was also very good.
We felt sorry for the bar and kitchen staff as it was very busy and they were stretched but they coped well and seemed very happy.

Everything this was the second time we have stayed here.
It's also an ideal location for exploring the peak district.
Paper cups in the room, a cup of tea is much nicer in a proper cup or mug.

Room comfortable nice modern bathroom. Small issue with the quilt cover on the bed but that was soon resolved with no fuss. Breakfast OK fair choice of cooked food kept being replenished.
There was no heating in the bathroom. Didn't like the paper cups and wooden spoons in the room on the tea tray.

We stayed for a wedding at the Memorial Hall, so the location was perfect. The breakfast was good, bed comfortable and staff friendly, though we had little contact with them. The rooms were quiet overnight. We had everything we needed for one night. The room was basic, but fine for what we needed. Plenty of biscuits in the room.
The room was basic, it felt spartan and we wouldn’t have wanted to linger there. The window overlooked the car park and nearby houses, so voiles would have helped with privacy as the blinds made it dark. Paper cups and very few options (no decaf or herbal tea, e.g.) made the hospitality tray feel ‘budget’, which I guess it was! These are small things. Overall, good stay.
