Beautiful hotel but not worth the price tag

The room and pool were beautiful. It's in a quiet location and the beach is nice. It is a short walk to some of the restaurants in the cliff.

It was very expensive for what you get (nearly nzd $400 a night). This is a 5 star price for the area. I don't think it's worth the cost. The manager was nice but he didn't speak much English and if you're paying top dollar, you'd expect them to speak fluent conversational English. There was just no personal touch.

Beautiful villa!

Absolutely beautiful villa, with lots of places to relax and very comfortable beds! We loved that you could access the pool directly from your decking. The villa exceeded our expectations! The staff were also lovely.

There is a restaurant on site, however, it closes at 7pm every night, which we found way too early for us on holiday!

Location was good. It was a bit outside of the main restaurant/beach area so lovely and quiet but within walking distance of the popular restaurants and bays

White Horse Retreat is a little gem, that just needs a slight polish.

I love the colonial style of the property and the tranquil location of tamarind bay. The staff are wonderful and Ketut is a delight and will assist with booking trips/scooters. They care about you having a lovely relaxing time and are proud of their Island.

The villa, being wood, really needs a meticulous clean with the vacuum. Dust etc catches in the crevices and between the shutters. I am also particularly fussy. Having been last year, a little variety in the menu would be nice. Perhaps a “special”.

Great resort, but secluded and with unfriendly management

Great resort with nice villas. Clean and with good facilities. Liked the breakfast and the male staff were great. Got a beautifully prepared bed because of our honeymoon, which was a nice touch.

The location isn’t great, the road leading to the resort is very bumpy and off the beaten track. It felt a bit secluded. Since there are no taxi apps on the island, sometimes somewhat harder to get around, but that’s mainly because we didn’t feel comfortable renting scooters due to the bad road. The communication of the management was very poor. Hard to reach, no pick-up service from the ferry, no check-in instructions, and for the very first time during our Bali trip we weren’t warmly received. Also with the check-out it felt like we were being ripped off, because we found out we had to pay extra for our breakfast coffee and an additional 3% of our total stay price for paying with credit card (nowhere stated on booking). After some discussion, we luckily ended up not having to pay the extra fee.

The room and the bathroom are beautifully decorated. Ketut and Milo was friendly and always helpful.

It would be nice to have a full-size mirror in the room. The "villas" face each other, which gives no privacy. We are lucky that our neighbour was quiet and was always out. However, the day we left, we had a family with babies and toddlers check in, and I was glad it was our last night; otherwise, it would be a nightmare of crying babies and no privacy at the pool either. The villas also need maintenance. Our verandah fan was broken. However, after complaining three times, they arranged for someone to fix it, and the roof was also leaking. Some of the blinds don't close properly and provide poor privacy. They asked what time we prefer breakfast. However, nobody is around the kitchen or the bar until around 9 or 10 am. Don't expect an early breakfast. This place would be fabulous, but it needs significant improvement. It is not a place with easy access, so we expect at least a fabulous service and a place. But the place let us down. :(

A relaxing island escape with warm hospitality, stunning beachfront views and delicious food.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Milu with a refreshing drink and a detailed introduction to the resort. The entire team at White Horse Resort were incredibly helpful throughout our stay—organising everything from scooters to explore the island, to snorkelling trips and relaxing in-house massages. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The food was another highlight—fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. I especially recommend the BBQ seafood plate—it was absolutely delicious! The resort is set in a peaceful, beachfront location—ideal for unwinding—yet only a short scooter ride from some fantastic restaurants and bars. It was magical watching turtles pop up for air in the crystal-clear aqua water. At low tide, we loved walking along the beach to explore nearby caves and watching the locals as they fished and searched for crustaceans.

There were just a couple of small things that could improve the stay—a full-length mirror in the room would have been useful, and we found the bed a bit too firm for our liking. However, these were minor issues in an otherwise wonderful experience.

This property is absolutely stunning. The accommodation is clean and absolutely beautiful. The beds are comfy, the bathroom is large. And on top of all of this the staff are absolutely beautiful, they made our stay so comfortable and made us feel so cared for. They helped us with where to go and organised our day trips. Thank you so much we will definitely be back.

Beautiful property, right on the water you could go out for a swim and the perfect clear blue ocean. The food was exceptional , fresh and so clean.

Overall a good experience in a beautiful setting.

The property and staff were wonderful. Our villa was clean and comfortable. The breakfast menu had good options and was delicious. There are a few walkable cafes/restaurants in the area, but the bulk of the activity on the island requires a driver to access. It's not a deal breaker, but good to know if you want to be within walking distance of multiple food options.

The streets are mostly rough pathways, so if you want to walk to your destination, make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The other item that I discovered is that Indonesia does not have a good resouce for collecting garbage, so you'll see bags and loose garage strewn along side the roads and in people's yards. It's a jarring contrast to the pristine Villas.

AVOID THIS PLACE. IT IS EXPENSIVE AND DISSAPOINTING!!!

The place is stunning and you can easily look at the photos and fall in love. However the finer details and the experience makes you fall out of love very quickly!

Having been open for 4 months prior to our arrival, we hoped that this place would be ready for us. However this was not the case. Our air con did not work in our room and our safe was broken. Our bathroom cupboard door was off the hinges and just carefully placed back 'normal' to look good for our arrival. Not to mention the glass in the bathroom with toothpaste stains all over it from the previous guests. The room was unbearable to stay in with the heat but the staff were struggling to fix the problem and understand anything. We moved in the upper villa with family and the staff sorted a spare bed for the extra person to put into a room. When doing this they were standing on the kitchen table in bare feet, they broke a light and laughed about it and they wrapped all the clean sheets for the new bed around their bodies. It was not only unprofessional but it was all extremely unhygienic. After a string of bad attitudes and service from the staff, NYE topped off the bad experience for us. The whole time we were there, the staff were asking for our NYE plans. We didn't know and took recommendations from them and did our research on those places. We decided on one of them and asked them to arrange a table for us. The venue we were going to offer free taxi service to and from the beach club however the staff said this was not available but they would order a taxi for us. When we asked the price we said it was too much, he told us his friend was already on the way and that we had to take it. Arriving at the venue on NYE, we were told there is no booking and that they cannot accept walk in's. They did speak with the staff at white Horse but they only enquired about the evening and didn't book it. They also let us know that the free taxi is and was available. The owner was very rude about the issues, however acknowledged they are having 'teething' problems. This place has a LONG way to go to succeed. Bad attitude owners & staff.

All in all it was great, we booked 2 nights but extended to 5.

Only 5 villas to share a 30 m pool. 30m to the sea and seaview. Great food, though a short menu. Great breakfast. Very nice rooms and a nice private Livingroom downstairs at the pool. Restaurants within 15 min walk at mushroom bay.

When we had dinner in the evening the food was really good but starters to deserts were served at great speed since the staff finished work at 8 pm.

Beautiful Retreat

We were grateful to have a free upgrade to the lodger house and we weren’t disappointed. The lodge was beautifully clean and the staff were helpful, even giving us fresh coconuts from the gardens.

Just a small thing but the WiFi password wasn’t written anywhere, they could make it easier for guests to find. I would recommend hiring a scooter so you can easier get about, there aren’t many restaurants in Tamarind bay, you are better to walk around to Mushroom Bay. It would be helpful if they had a guide of things to see and do in the area, the staff were helpful but weren’t clued up on how to recommend trips or outings. However, I would strongly recommend the Tamarind Dive centre next door, they were super helpful and took us on some great diving trips.

Beautiful Resort, Amazing Staff and awesome Island

Es war ein perfekter und traumhafter Urlaub. Danke an das White Horse Resort Team. Es blieben keine Wünsche offen. Ob Ausflüge oder Fähren, alles wurde einfach und unkompliziert gebucht und organisiert. Wir konnten uns nur auf den Urlaub und die Erlebnisse konzentrieren und uns voll und ganz entspannen Vielen lieben Dank für diesen Urlaub. Und wir werden euch wieder besuchen kommen. :D

Een klein paradijs direct aan het strand met eigen zwembad en heerlijk restaurant inclusief ontzettend aardige en behulpzame medewerkers … FAntastisch een aanrader om tot rust te komen maar toch ook allerlei watersport te doen.

mooi hotel, matige service

Heel mooi hotel, schitterende kamer en badkamer en prachtig zwembad.. De omgeving is rustig, maar het hotel ligt naast een stortplaats (wat niet echt verwonderlijk is in de straten van het eiland)

De service voor ontbijt en lunch was matig, hoewel de meeste Balinezen echt hartelijk zijn. Het hotel ligt niet aan een strand waar je kan zwemmen. Dan heb je een scooter nodig of 20 min wandelen
