Location, room , breakfast, public transport.
Housekeeping inconsistent, not informed about free public transport card at check-in, only found out halfway through stay.

Fascinating history of the hotel.

Brilliant location in a quiet area of old town. Easy walk from Mozartsteg bus stop, small Billa supermarket and pedestrian shopping street. We loved having free access to a sauna and also enjoyed the cinema on site for 7€ per person. Breakfast was a buffet and we had plenty of options. The room was comfortable and warm and we were able to access tea and coffee until 9pm from the tea bar downstairs. Friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure we didn’t miss a thing ❤️

The location was absolutely perfect - we walked to the Christmas market and restaurants. When we needed to use the bus, it was an easy walk to the bus station. Breakfast was lovely and perfect for us. The Italian restaurant next door was super convienent for us. The room was lovely, and perfect for a family of 4. 2 nights was fine - any longer and it might have been a little cramped for us.

Nothing to like about this hotel. It is a DUMP… nearly 1000 euro for two nights for a dirty, under invested, hovel.
The only good think about this place is the staff. Otherwise, the mould, the torn furniture, slanting floors, dirt walls, cold
Sauna, creaking flloor boards, old
Bed clothes, dirt, dirt and more dirt.

Lovely quirky hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Buffet breakfast was more than adequate. The cinema was a bonus! As was their own beer 🙂 Nicely located for the christmas markets with plenty of restaurants in the local area. I would stay again.
No coffee making facilities in the room, and the tea station was very short of cups and milk.

We had the junior suite with the hot tub. Very nice room and the staff were so helpful. Breakfast was delicious as well with ample selection.
Pillows were pretty flat/lumpy.

Perfect location, beautiful hotel, very friendly staff, comfortable bedding. Very clean.
Too much noise in the morning, my room was not very well isolated so I could hear the people, and then the vacuums from the cleaning of the other rooms. Probably not the best for someone who likes to sleep-in late (but there are many my tjings to see in Salzburg :)).

Breakfast was very good. The location was excellent for the Christmas market, shopping and accessing the Hohensalzburg Fortress. The desk and kitchen staff were friendly. Our room was made available in advance of the regular check-in time. The hotel was very responsive to any questions via Email - overall our stay was good.
The headboard in the bedroom had a good layer of dust on it, although the room appeared clean. The shower basin, which was quite large, started to backup after a few minutes so that you were standing in a pool of water. However, you were able to finish your shower without any overflow.

Very overpriced for the quality.

I loved the location and the decoration of the property.
They have left the window open and it was a bit chilly so we had to wait a few hours to feel warm!

The location is excellent and the hotel is very historic. I had a peek in the movie theater which is one of the oldest in the world. Very cool. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. The restaurant was excellent. One of my favorite meals (shrimp and tomato paparadelle) on my 3 week trip.
The room was very tiny, old and not as clean as most places I stayed. To be fair, I did book the cheapest room available though.

Located in the old town.
Great shower.
Helpful staff
You could hear footfall from the floor above, but unavoidable in such a historic building.
Otherwise pretty quiet.

The penthouse room itself was spacious, it was 2 levels, upper level accessed by a set of steps, main bedroom had a king size bed with a panoramic view of the fortress thru a ceiling window, the upstairs sleeping arrangement was an uncomfortable queen size sofa bed, this location was close to the Salzburg Cathedral which made it convenient for walking, breakfast was very nice, typical German fare with scrambled eggs & I think there was bacon, parking the car was easy, lot for parking is up a small hill & then to the right, parking is outside & it's tight, but we made it work, hotel was gracious enough to allow me to park and extra 2 hours the day of checkout as they were not completely booked, but you must make reservations for the parking as they have a limited amount of space
The very uncomfortable queen size sofa bed on the 2nd level. Also, the shower is a zero entry shower and tends to flood the floor if your not careful, we had to call housekeeping because the drain couldn't keep up with the amount of water output, but we made it work. Also, I do want to add that we had trouble finding the ENTRANCE BOLLARD, the directions were taking us to the EXIT BOLLARD, but thank god for Goggle maps, we did an aerial & street view and figured out that it was on the opposite side so we crossed the bridge went around the roundabout, came back across the bridge and stayed to the right, it brought us right to ENTRANCE BOLLARD, so be careful when following the directions, another couple told us they had the same issue

Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Our bathroom was a bit small. Fine for 1 night.

Excellent location to all attractions. Good breakfast
Poor room. The Deluxe double room was more basic. No air con, just a fan so good luck in heat. No hospitality but tea bar some floors down. Soap dispenser broken, no tissues in holder, fan in bathroom noisy and erratic and whole room needs a refurb

Great location and easy to walk to places. The hotel provided a big fan to cool our room, which was appreciated greatly. The shower was nice and everything was quiet for us. Room was cleaned at least once while we were there. The staff helped us scan and print documents that we needed for work, going out of their way for the task.
The breakfast was super expensive: we only did it once, and that was out of curiosity.
I overheard other guests complain about their room being close to the elevator with noise.

Downtown, in the pedestrian zone, with possible access by car to load and unload. Their breakfast is amazing, even mimosas, and two types of fresh hot croissants and other breads. Also dog friendly.
It is not possible to park next to the hotel because it is located in a pedestrian zone. The parking garage is very close by and you get a discount if you ask at the hotel before checking out.

The beds are worn out.

Location is excellent in the old town of Salzburg within easy walking distance of the castle. The building itself is very ancient and has interesting architectural features. Co-located with one of the oldest cinemas in Europe (early 1900s). Breakfast reasonable and plentiful.
Cleanliness! Rude aggressive staff!
At first sight room was interesting and spacious with a separate galleried lounge - so far so good. However on the sofa in the lounge area was a used pillow and a bundle of laundry/sheets - and on closer inspection the bedroom floor was dirty and had ground in food waste (biscuit or crisps?) and even worse dark curly hairs - I have photos!
At first reception was receptive and apologetic and promised to have room cleaned asap - I was going out so I said that would be OK. On my return that evening the pillow and sheets had been removed but the bedroom floor was still dirty and I had to remove the food waste myself as it was in an area to walk to the bed - it was late so I thought I would take it up in the morning.
The morning!
I waited for reception to clear of other guests - not there to make a scene - and asked receptionist what had happened following my complaint of previous evening - a youung man (manager?) appeared from a back office and very rudely and aggressively said "What is your problem - it was only a pillow - it was removed - what is your problem it has been attended to!" "The matter is closed"
I had not raised my voice I had been polite and I was quite taken aback by this very aggressive attitude - quite spoiled what had been a very pleasant stay in Austria.

Absolutely loved the location and breakfasts! Opportunity to make yourself a mimosa's for breakfast stole my heart. Why not to spoil yourself on vacation? :)
Front office desk, especially Leon was unbelievably helpful. My husband forgot his jacket along our home keys in the closet in the room. Leon was kind enough to make sure we get our keys and husbands jacket back. Although the package is still on it's way, we are more than satisfied with this kind of service!
No air conditioner in the room (or we didn't found any).

Nice breakfast.
The little shop of drinks and snacks could have a wider selection. Also regarding drinks.

kind staff, good location.
a "standard" room in a 4 star hotel should't be that small. no minibar, no 24 hour concierge. a strange odour in the corridors from the neighbouring trattoria. rooms are much smaller than they seem in booking.com pictures.

Location, variety of nearby restaurants and staff very friendly and helpful
No air-conditioning, fan helped with heat but rooms were stifling hot until one acclimatised

The breakfast was hilarious! And it only costs 15 Euro.

The friendly, helpful staff. The charm of the very old building. The patios were very pleasant , as was the EXCELLENT BUFFET, which had a large assortment of excellent food. LOCATION was FANTASTIC, CLOSE TO EVERTHING.
The size of the room was a bit difficult to move around and unpack (perhaps a queen size bed rather than a king size). We missed not having a mini fridge in the room, and a coffee maker should be in all 4 star hotels.

Location, Location, Location. This hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Saltzburg. Easy to get to everything. The hotel itself has a historic story. Its a very old building and has such has creaky doors and floors (to be expected and part of the charm). Very cool hotel. Parking is much easier than it may seem.
Not much. Everything was great.

Location is good. Bed is comfortable.
My room is at the corner. And I suggested that it should be make a notice of the step in the room. I fell down twice.

The location is fantastic. There is a great cinema on the ground floor and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The small shared terrace in the room has lovely views of Salzburg.
The junior suite we stayed in was tired and scruffy. It was very hot, thankfully the weather was cooler than normal otherwise the room would be very uncomfortable to sleep there.
The room we stayed in needs redecorating, things like the sink plug not working and general shabbiness of the room really shouldn’t be the case for 4 star hotel, charging as much as it does.
The towels when we arrived hadn’t been changed, and whilst the staff quickly changed them, the general level of house keeping wasn’t good. Beds not made, bathroom not cleaned well. It looked like the staff had to hurry to clean the rooms?
The other member of our party had a much better room so I’d suggest not booking a junior suite here.
The breakfast was fine.

Location was great.
The facilities were horrible. Mold on the bathroom wall, floors were not clean it was so small we could not walk around. The boiler was broken and could not take showers that day. For a 4 star hotel, I would only give 1 star.
