Roomy and comfortable, friendly staff, good breakfast. The grounds were really lovely even in the winter.

Very comfortable rooms, sitting room with a roaring log fire and an excellent dinner. Set menu for 43 euros was very good from Fois Gras, capaccio of beef to Sea bass and Pepper steak. The excellent receptionist was also the waitress and did a great job. Dogs accepted with no problem.

The drinks were a little expensive, but otherwise it was good value.

Gorgeous and classic. We loved it. The fireplace was absolutely lovely.
Heat in the room could have been warmer. But this was a minor issue

Quiet, beautiful hotel with large rooms and a very good breakfast. We had a wonderful time here, exploring the WW2 / D-day sites in the area.

Great location in a lovely setting within walking distance of the town centre. Spacious parking within the grounds which was a priority for us. Large charming room. Excellent breakfast.
6.0 / 10.0
Liked the attention to detail in the rooms - everything you could need was there
But it was all a bit disorganised and under managed. Breakfast, while offering excellent coffee and real fresh orange juice was a largely faceless experience. It felt like everything was in a cabinet, and you had no idea how long everything had been there. The cooked offer was practically empty or tired looking by 9.15 am (despite breakfast being served till 10 am). Scrambled egg was provided on request, and was delicious, but it all felt a bit like they were hoping no one would ask.
The grounds are beautiful, but a feeling of 'past their hay day' prevails... staff smoke outside the front, table tennis table is rotting away in the open, flower beds are seriously under weeded if not actually wilded!
But despite all of this, there is a charm which for some, the price charged does not represent value for money, certainly not compared to other options nearby.

The gardens were nice, although not well maintained. Lovely big trees. Relatively close to the town. Nice evening meal on our first night. Comfortable bed.
Our room was small & in the attic/eaves of the building - with large low beams & limited window light. We were NOT told we would be given an inferior attic room. It was stuffy - the dormer window in the roof couldn’t easily be left open. The picture of the room on the website is misleadingly nice - and anyway we had no idea that this would be the room we were allocated. There was NO dedicated shower - you had to get into quite a deep bath and stand with a handheld shower. We were not told about this - and should have been. Getting in and out of the bath was really quite dangerous - particularly for older people such as ourselves. There was a huge wooden beam going through the middle of the bathroom which was inconvenient to say the least. The buffet style breakfast was terrible - seriously mediocre food, indifferent staff & VERY expensive for what you got. This hotel is more like a Youth Hostel than a proper hotel - run on a shoestring, not particularly well maintained and run by staff who are probably poorly paid so have little interest in the “guests”. The venue might be OK for a single night, but is not tolerable for a longer stay of 7 nights such as ours. There are terrible - axle breaking - potholes on the private access road to the hotel - I told them about this but they weren’t interested.

Great location, wonderful old building but in need of some TLC.
Breakfast poor and despite claiming they could cater for food intolerances nothing was offered on one of the days. Also restaurant closed on one night.

Gardens and exterior of the chateau were beautiful. Our room on the 4th floor was not.
Bathtub was dirty with black crumbs of some sort. Upon arrival, the women at the front desk were not cordial. The man at the front desk the following morning was, which we appreciated.

Chateau de Bellefontaine is the kind of place you are sorry to leave, and hope your other destinations can live up to. Beautiful, historic, comfortable, peaceful, and elegant. The rooms are also quite reasonable, given their spaciousness and quality. The town center is just under a 20-minute walk, so while you feel you are in the French countryside from a bygone past, the vibrant medieval village of Bayeux is close by. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is quite good! I highly recommend this hidden gem!
We couldn't think of anything to complain about here.

Nothing!

The restaurant was good and the service there very friendly, although clearly under-staffed.
Our room - a duplex - was absurdly designed. Unlike in the photo, there was no lounge, but two open floors with a double bed on each. There was no privacy unless you drew all the curtains, as the architects had put huge glass doors and windows on both sides of the room. The wifi did not work. The stairs looked great, but wobbled. The stair rail was positively loose and dangerous. The private terrace was covered in weeds. And there was old fluff under the bed. The owner was utterly unapologetic about all of this, simply saying she could not get the staff. This is not good enough at the price being charged.

All was very good

Lovely outlook over farmland.
Common rooms downstairs were well decorated and pleasant. Bed was comfortable.
Bedrooms needed refurbishing. Furniture would look great painted and new carpet.
Shower over a very high bath will not suit everyone.

It was clean and close to town, but not in town.
On rainy days (we had 1 while there) it is a little bit of a hike into town so you either have to uber or get wet!

A great little chateau just outside the town centre. Perfect for those driving and not wanting parking issues.

We choose this hotel as it provided parking, something we found difficult to get elsewhere.
Our inital interaction with staff was very positive, then some not so positive (it happens everywhere). In the end, the staff saved us by arranging transportation to Paris when all the trains were booked. We were initially given a nice room on the top floor that had a tub but no shower. I have difficulty getting in and out of a tub, so the staff not only found us a different room, they moved our luggage.
Breakfast seemed a little over priced for what was provided.
Location was great and after returning the car, we found we could walked from the center of Bayeux to the hotel in about 20 minutes.
The hotel is rated 3 star, and I believe that to be a correct assessment.
We were informed that the second room we were assigned was recently renovated, but already had signs of mold above the shower due to poor ventilation.

Great location. Lovely hotel. Staff very helpful and polite.
Nothing except my car was badly scratched in the car park and will cost £400 to repair.
