Always have the English breakfast. Never disappoints

Not much. The lady who served breakfast was very friendly and efficient.
Where to start? After a long wait to check in at the reception of a tired looking building we were given keys to a drab and dated room. Ok, for the price we paid we couldn't complain because at least it was clean.
We had booked a meal at the hotel restaurant for convenience as we were going to an event at theatre nearby. We went down for dinner a little early so didn't expect our table to be ready immediately and ordered a drink at the bar while we waited and waited and waited. When it got to half an hour past the time of booking and we still weren't seated or even acknowledged apart from given some low quality printed A4 menus we gave up on our plan of the 3 course option and decided on the two course option due to time constraints.
After eventually placing our order for main courses we were shown through to the 'restaurant' another drab and dated room with awful piped music and only two more diners already seated. The mains of steak and chips arrived and were nothing special, reminiscent of a home cooked meal and not in a good way.
Mains were cleared and the desert menu was supplied. After browsing the menu we made our choices only to be told, along with the other couple that three out of the five choices were actually sold out. Disappointed to say the least but not surprised to hear that the manager was not available for us to discuss the issues although we were offered a drink on the house in way of compensation for the slowly delivered substandard part meal we had endured.
To top it off, the shower in our room supplied cold water only and the hot tap in the basin didn't work at all.
Breakfast was actually quite nice and the lady serving it very pleasant and unfortunately seemed to be the only member of staff with any level of competence.
If this hotel stay had been marketed as a Fawlty Towers experience it would have been exceptional but as it is then one to definitely avoid

We had a very pleasant stay in Eslington Villa. It's a lovely country manor style hotel in a quiet and green spot of Gateshead. It was perfect for our needs.

Location, good pressure water
There was a flat above make noise when somebody walks and it did, slow on serving breakfast and I end up having just a coffee even if I had a breakfast include. Need 15 minutes to bring a coffee

Location was good, parking, room was clean enough
Walls were paper thin could hear everything the next room was doing and unfortunately for us they had the tv turned on until about 2 am and it literally sounded like the tv was in our room, you could also hear everything footsteps from the next room and for some reason when they walked around it shook our room and floorboards and for some reason this lady walked around all night with the tv on for some reason. Shower was cold and there was a weird dripping noise constantly in the bathroom although I couldn’t see water dripping anywhere. Everything seems abit dated and very tired. Breakfast service was very poor took over 35 mins to even just get our drink order taken, breakfast came like warm and eggs over done and things missing that should have been on there.

The whole experience was great including two evening meal both fabulous. Just around the corner from the job we were contracted on. Highly recommend
Would definitely stay again.
Only criticism would be a slightly warmer shower.

Room lovely decor. Four-poster bed, was not expecting this! The heating was great, lovely and warm. The bathroom was huge with a corner bath. Shower gel, etc., was provided too, and bath robes! We didn't have dinner at the hotel, but the breakfast was really nice. lovely dining area. Staff very friendly. We booked this hotel as it was closest to the crematorium (to attend a funeral), but this was a very lovely, hidden gem, and I would certainly recommend it
The view looked out onto the car park. There were some beautiful gardens at the front of the hotel, and the views from those rooms would have been amazing. This did not spoil our stay, though, and if we come back, I would try to book a garden view room

I stayed twice in a week - the staff were really helpful after I mentions issues on my first stay and the room the second time was really nice! Perfect location for me, nice clean and tidy room.
The room I stayed in first time had a shower which only reached up to my shoulders... the heating was on full blast all the time so the room was really hot too!

Very clean and comfortable bedroom with smart bathroom and lovely shower. The hotel restaurant and lounge space looks out into gorgeous landscaped gardens. Attention has been paid to hospitality details like crisp linen napkins. A little gem really, and I felt very good value for what I paid on the most simple room option.

Stayed here lots of times. My sister had her wedding reception here. We used to bring Mum for her birthday lunch here. We held her funeral here. A beautiful building which needs a but of investment to bring it back to its former glory. Minor niggles include no soap in bathroom to wash hands. Had to use shower gel. Massive bed but could feel springs poking through matress. Poor breakfast choices. Staff unable to direct us to our room as only been there two weeks. Feels like the place is winding down to closure. What a shame. Premier Inn next time.

The front aspect of the hotel looked lovely
We arrived at the hotel after a 7 hours drive, to be told they didn’t have my booking on the system, and that they were fully booked (booked via booking.com in advance and paid the full amount upfront).
The person who dealt with us gave no apology for the issue, and didn’t really want to deal with the issue in-person. He did offer to help us find another hotel, but due to the time of day and event in the city, i had to pay an extra £100 a night to find a like for like hotel at such short notice.
Even though i was told they couldn’t find our booking, he was able to refund the full amount seconds after i cancelled the booking. I found the experience very disappointing, even though the hotel itself looked lovely.

Breakfast was lovely, staff friendly.
No lift , no rooms available on lower floors. No shower only a hose in the bath. When ur 70+ & have Parkinsons it was all to much so we only stayed 4 two nights not 3 as planned.

I stayed at Eslington Villa in a twin room. Overall, it was a clean and comfortable stay. The only slight downside was that the plug sockets were quite far from the beds, which was a bit inconvenient. On the plus side, having Yorkshire Tea bags in the room was brilliant. The shower was powerful and worked well. There was a smoking hut available, the bar was open during our stay, and there was ample parking. The hotel was easy to get around and everything felt well maintained. A pleasant and comfortable stay overall.
The night porter was also very friendly and efficient. We wanted to give him a special mention.
Nothing we didn’t like.

Breakfast was lovely. Its a very tradional style of hotel which we enjoyed.
We stayed in the Oak room. It was a double room, with a soft double mattress but the base was slightly larger. It would have been so much more comfortable with a king-size mattress. The room was lovely and warm and the bathroom had underfloor heating .

Location
Staff were lovely except for the Manager
Unable to remove subtitles from TV and the basic channels worked. Manager was unable to solve the problem. Looked at another room of the same grade but had the same TV problem. Reluctantly moved us to an upgraded room. Discovered the heating was broken so had no heating not ideal in winter! Offered an extra duvet and told it was a known issue! Bar below our room and lots of noise and from trains. Moved back to original room as quieter. No heating for the rest of our stay. No follow up or apology from the manager.
The ladies on duty helped us much as they could and were very apologetic.
Breakfast was very poor quality, badly cooked and very limited choices.

The staff were so helpful and friendly. The restaurant food was lovely. Everything was clean and tidy.
The room is lovely, loads of room but we didn't realise when we booked the room requested by us was with open plan bathroom, meaning no bathroom door, you can sit in bed and look straight in to raised bathroom, a bit like a stage. Though some may love this, I didn't. If you enjoy listening to the other wee and other lingering smells than this is the room for you. As it goes we took it in turns to sit on the landing chair to give each other a bit of privacy . Everyone is different but this really wasn't the room for us. The room name is Pine incase you were wondering!

Room was nice, comfortable and breakfast was good.
Pine bedroom , bathroom is lovely but would help if there was a door or some kind of privacy from the main room, in particular if someone is using the toilet.
