Sutherlands Hotel

Location was perfect for me as it was near my friends' house.

I felt a bit isolated as I never saw any staff, particularly when I checked out. I had to leave through the fire escape. The place seemed empty. The wash basin took some time to empty. I think it needs to be unblocked.

The staff are lovely, very helpful and attentive. The bed was comfy and the bath nice and big. We only stayed the one night, but we felt right at home straight away. The food was good quality and great value too.

Listen, it's not 5 star, it's 3, so expect 3 star standards of decor and you're sound.

Friendly and helpful staff on arrival and during the evening. The evening meal not particularly large menu choice but the dishes we chose were very good. Pleasant enough room, spacious and comfortable bed. Plenty of tea, coffee etc. in the room.

There was no one available to speak to when we checked out apart from a cleaner who told us to leave the key on the desk. We stayed in room 9 - a bit confused as to why there was an unplugged upright freezer in the room! The TV remote batteries missing - quickly supplied by staff when informed - but still did not work well as it failed to operate volume at all or the standby at the end of the day (maybe down to the replacement batteries?). Biggest issue was the bathroom which has black staining on the ceiling above the bath - possible mould or where mould has once been? Also the self at the bottom of the mirror fixture above the sink is missing - this was very deceptive as at first glance it looked like a glass shelf there, my husband removed his glasses and tried putting them on there but they just fell straight onto the floor.
