Gleneagle Killarney

The parking, the convenience of walking in for dinner without booking, the staff were very friendly, very approachable and helpful. The shuttle was bus was an added bonus even though we didn’t get to use it. The room was clean and the changing rooms at the swimming pool. Reception staff were friendly on checking in. Good services in the room, tv with Netflix, nice shower, fan, not a bad bed, good selection of teas coffee ect

I didn’t like the check in and check out times. 4pm is too late and 11am was too early for us. Trying to battle through the breakfast rush, even thought we went early it was chaos. The sausages were not nice. The kids wanted to go swimming, after breakfast we went but it felt rushed trying to get out of our room for 11am. The pool was very cramped, uncomfortable. We were having fun as a family in one of the lanes we had been using for races with the kids. We were told it’s for swimming only!! Does that mean no fun aloud!! We weren’t even doing anything that was causing any harm. Just having fun! We also ate dinner. Adult starters were nice. I had the Adults chicken and thought it was tasteless. The presentation was unnecessary and I would have enjoyed just a normal piece of chicken much more rather than 4 rolled and stuffed individual piece I got. The kids dinners were not great. Hard rice, obviously had been sitting there at the buffet for ages, hardly any chicken in the curry. The wait for chicken goujans and chips was also a little silly! They should be on tap! It’s a buffet for kids! Other stuff was missing too, people were being told to come back or their food would be dropped down. Whats the point of having a buffet if it’s not well catered for. We had a drink in the bar and at 9.45 the piano man had tuned his piano but hadn’t started playing any music. The atmosphere was flat. I just expected more for a hotel that has such a well known name. It very much felt like a rotation belt. We paid €235 for our stay, maybe you get what you pay for. Next time I’ll spend more for a better experience.

I stayed at Gleneagle Killarney and unfortunately my experience was disappointing. The breakfast was very poor, with very limited options, and it was not self-service, which made it even more inconvenient as there was very little to choose from. The room was not ready at the official check-in time (4 PM), and we had to wait longer, which was frustrating—especially as we were traveling with children. Regarding the facilities, the jacuzzi was not working properly and only worked on one day during our stay. The swimming pool conditions were also not ideal, and there was no proper place to leave or dry wet belongings after using the pool. Overall, the hotel seems more suitable for conferences rather than for families. It does not provide the comfort and convenience expected for a family stay.
