Sadly, I would not recommend this hotel

The owner is friendly. If you just want a croissant and a cappuccino then breakfast would be fine for you. Brunate is pretty with a fab view of Como City.

The website's photos are not representative of the rooms here. I found the hotel to be very basic, more like a hostel than a hotel. The bedrooms are not set up for comfort or convenience, furniture is old, mismatched and unappealing (the 'bedside tables' are dining room chairs), in the bathroom the shower unit was tiny, dirty and had mould on the wall, the bathroom generally was not pleasant to use. I thought breakfast was disappointing, but that would depend on individual expectations. On offer - coffee/tea, juice, homemade cake, bread (individually wrapped type), cheap jam, Nutella + butter, Spam like sliced meat, croissants, apples + oranges, cheapest yogurts. Brunate itself is lovely to walk around - with the lighthouse to walk up to and a some good restaurants around the funicular, but be aware that if you want to be in Como for the ferries then you need to get the Funicular up and down (7.20 eur return). The hotel was somewhat tricky to find but just have your map ready when you get off the funicular!

Easy access to Como

The staff was very friendly. We got a glass of sparkling wine at the check-in. The parking lot is very close to the property, just a bit difficult to find it but the staff will explain it to you. The hotel is 10min walking to the funicular to Como. The hotel room despite small is quite fine, has a good size bed, a desk and a small wardrobe. The shower has a good water pressure.

The room was really hot and the only fan available was not sufficient to cool it down. The shower was a bit clogged and the water took too long to lower down. No hooks available to hang the towels.

Enjoyed our stay

This is our first trip to Italy/Europe. The staff- The owner, front desk receptionist (Inais) and other support staff are very very nice. The location of the hotel is one of the finest. The breakfast is awesome, just what one needs (not excessive, not less) and they serve you personally to start the day beautifully.

Only if you travel with a car. Pretty disappointed.. better pay a higher price next time or a differnt town to stay at.

The hosts were pretty nice. And the price was better then most options.

-its barely possible to arrive to the hotel without a car, the train up the hill is not good for main travel purpose. You have to wait 30-40mins at peak hour and pay a lot if you travel it often as we had to do. -the room was very low quality for the price paid. -the water temperatures were very difficult to work with at the shower and sink and the twin bed was just two small beds connected (they disconnected often from each other).

Worth a special journey just to experience.

This place is a gem. The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming. Surroundings are amazing. Far from traditional boot-licking-5-star behavoiur this 3 star place has a 5 star behaviour. This place would be on our bucket list if we only had known about it.

Beautiful location, wonderful attentive staff. family run, authentic, good food and drink. lovely and peaceful.

Noise on the second night although that was more the fault of the guests staying. they were banging around and walking in and out of each others rooms a lot

Super host!

The host and staff were very friendly. The car parking was taken care of, as we were able to park the car on the terrace after removing all tables and chairs :-) we really enjoyed driving uphill through narrow and steep streets, but we can imagine not everybody is up for this challange.

The room, the shower and bed were tiny. For the hill locatie we expected a beautifull view, but there was a building in front of the balcony

The location is at the top of the Funicular. Driving includes a lot of switch backs and was quite an adventure! With the Funicular , the location could be really easy right into Cuomo.

Wonderfull!

Everything was perfect. Owner is wonderful person! He was waiting for us till 21:30 and prepared for us a dinner and opened restaurant with italian music! In the morning he brings warm croissants! The room was very clean and very beautiful view! In the night we took a glasses with wine and goes to the panorama. If you really want to enjoy Italy, you need to stay here. Its amazing, to sleep on top of Alps under the famous Como lake. Thank you a lot!!Tiramisu very tasty!

My husband and our adult children stayed here New Year's Eve. The owner and staff were warm and personable and we felt very welcome and cared for. The hotel was newly opened after renovation and staff encouraged us to let them know if anything was needed. Our dog was also welcome.

The room I shared with my husband was a little small, though it was clean and comfortable and newly renovated. Breakfast was simple but abundant.

Quiet place with great view

The accommodation lies in a quiet space uphill. From there you have a beautiful view on the Lago Como.

We did not expect the very hilly and serpentiny journey to the hotel - Big cars will have difficulties in Brunate. Likewise, there is too little parking for the number of rooms/occupants and vehicles had to be moved by other guests, when others wanted to leave.
