Hotel Athena

Rather tired, dated room, inadequate sound proofing. Poor WiFi, flaky TV reception. Good restaurant.

Nicely furnished modern hotel just inside the wall including dedicated parking. The breakfast was great and included a broad range of buffet offerings for guests. The location made walking easy to all food and tourist destinations. There was a little rooftop patio which provided an additional place to sip a glass of wine or eat a snack. The front desk was pleasant and helpful. In the dining/breakfast room Robert is the person who stands out in our experience. He is professional, knowledgable, attentive, and made all guests feel they received a personal relationship. He even wrote a route and potential destinations on our following travels to Pisa!

We loved everything. The hotel is in an excellent location, and the rooms are comfortable, tidy, and spotless, with a charming Italian style and every possible convenience. The staff is outstanding—warm, friendly, and always willing to help. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence.

Nice location a bit away from the hustle and bustle, whilst still being only a short walk to the main square/main shopping street. Amazing view from the top floor terrace! Pleasant, helpful staff. Decent shower. Free minibar (though it only contained bottled water)

Breakfast buffet was a bit underwhelming. Room was a good size but the bed wasn’t very comfortable: the bottom sheet was too small to tuck in so it rucked and wrinkled every time you moved. Also the a/c wasn’t yet operational (April) so it was too warm at night. Tea/coffee making facilities included but the milk powder wasn’t replaced once used.
