Hotel provided the Salzburg mobility pass that gives you free public transport in Salzburg

Location staff and facilities all fantastic
8.0 / 10.0
nice location, essy to walk to city centre and all major sights.
hotel gives you feeling of being in a manor house from ancient times. everything looks very impressive and feudal but with a modern and fresh touch.
hotel equipment is very basic: no slippers, no kettle, no coffee machineand only a very old tv in room. bed more on the hard side.
breakfast option is very limited (to be fair hotel makes it very clear and transparent. therefore no surprise)
there are no further facilities or offers. strictly bed and (light) brekfast

Excellent location for exploring Salzburg on foot, only minutes from old town, shops and restaurants. Large comfortable room, helpful staff and a simple but welcome breakfast.
There is nothing to dislike about this hotel, my only suggested improvement would be to place a kettle in each room. One was provided once we asked but some people may not think to ask.

Location was fantastic, an easy 15 minute walk into the old town and a minute or two walk to very nice restaurants and tourist attractions close by too.
Staff were very friendly and efficient.
The hotel and room were clean and stylish.
We didn’t have breakfast so cannot comment.
Room was very spacious, though a bit cold, so we had to ask for an extra duvet. There was only one pillow per person, and they were softer than we were used to, so we requested more. Both the pillows and duvet were easily available on request.

Not a lot. Breakfast is great if your not gluten free and not hungry. Cereal (gf) would be nice thought.
A room that looked like a jail with a car park right outside with poeple walking by. Grills on all the windows - horrible. Disgusting picture on the wall. Panal in the bathroom falling down giving my wife a heart attack. Light fitting not repaired and hanging from false ceiling in bathroom. Very, very poor lighting in the bedroom - impossible to read, Pathetic bedside 'lamps'. 'Internatonal hotel?' How about some English channals on the TV apart from CNN and BBC World.

The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great!
It was cash only. They don't accept credit cards.

Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. A very comfortable and clean room with some quirky decor. The 'simple' breakfast was more than adequate. The hotel is mid-way between the railway station and the tourist center of the town, which suited us. Very close to the river and Mirabell Palace.
The addition of a kettle to make hot drinks in the room would have been nice.

Well presented and modern.
Location is a little too far from the old town. Reviews said a 10 minute walk, but in reality it’s closer to 20 minutes.

This was a beautiful hotel, with wonderful eclectic decor. Staff were wonderful.
Breakfast was basic, but accurately described on booking.com. Close to popular tourist areas and everything a walkable distance, (eg Mirabell gardens, old town etc)
It was overall a great stay, but at Salzburg prices
The only negative was the price. Salzburg it seems is a very expensive city to stay in. It was quite expensive, and although the building and decor were lovely, there were no additional inclusions.

The breakfast was pathetic, the worst I've ever had, just a bit of bread, don't bother with this place.

Location was perfect. Rooms are fun with different art work.
Continental breakfast is literally bread and coffee. Very disappointing when you spend $30. We ended up going to another breakfast place in town.

I had been at the hotel in the 1990s and wanted to return. It was great. If we come to Salzburg again we will want to stay at the Carlton for sure.
The room, 102 is brilliant
It is an easy walk to the Mirabell Gardens and then to the town, also close to the river.
There was nothing we did not like but would appreciate a hair dryer in the room, and maybe a kettle toake tea or coffee.

Tastefully decorated boutique property with a very comfortable bed in a quiet residential location, one street away from the river, 8 minutes walk to Mirabell Palace, 15 minutes walk to the old town and 12 minutes walk to the main train / bus station. We are not big breakfast eaters so the included tea/coffee, bread and jam starter for the day was perfect for us and there are restaurants and cafes 7-10 mins walk away.

The hotel is comfortable, friendly and safe, with pleasant, reasonably spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. Our room was at the front of the hotel, with a pleasant outlook but was quiet and had effective air-conditioning.
The reception area, with its quirky decoration and furnishings, provides a welcoming entrance and a good place to interact with the friendly and helpful management. Drinks could be purchased and consumed in the small lounge area or taken up to the rooms, although we weren’t aware of this to begin with. We were also loaned a kettle to use in our room.
We were provided with a free public transport pass for the city, which was emailed to us after check-in. The hotel is located in a quiet, attractive street and the neighbourhood felt very safe and nice to walk around. There were a number of good cafes and restaurants nearby. Whilst the main HBf railway station was a 10-15 minute walk away, we were also only a few minutes walk from the Mirabelle Palace and a 20 minute walk from the historic city centre.
I’m undecided about the breakfast provision. As the manager clearly explained, only a very basic, cold selection, plus hot drinks, is provided and included in the room rate, as you find in some budget hotels. Whilst this was sufficient to get you started in the morning if you didn’t want much, or needed to get away early, it was not enough to linger over or take much pleasure from. On our second morning, we went to an excellent nearby cafe, recommended by the hotel, for breakfast, which was excellent. I think perhaps it would be better to exclude the cost of this from the room rate and make it an optional extra.
Apart from the breakfast issue, the only other niggle is that the reception isn’t staffed overnight and later in the evening you have to access the hotel via the back door, from the car park. Whilst this worked perfectly well and didn’t feel particularly unsafe, I never like having to access unstaffed hotels via a back entrance.

Great location - just 15 min walk to Aldstadt. Quiet area. Convenient parking on site. Rooms really clean and well presented. Bathroom good and toiletries nice. In fact entire hotel smelt lovely. Breakfast small but as expected and good. Lovely dining area. Staff really nice and helpful.
Pillows a bit hard. Room was nice and made best of layout but bed not near a window so dark. Large room.

Location was perfect, as well as the service. The staff was polite and accomodating. It is a small, cosy hotel in a beautiful altbau villa, next to Mirabell gardens. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Also, there is a private parking provided for EUR 15 per day.
The pillow could be changed. Also, even though it was advertized that there is only "complimentary" breakfast, a proper breakfast option would be a great plus for the establishment.

We loved the location which was a short block from the river and easy walking distance from the train station and bus stop.
The continental breakfast included some delicious breads and excellent coffee as well as juice but could be improved with perhaps an offering of cheese, deli meats and yogurt.

No coffee facilities in room, no ac controller, no iron

The hotel had been a family home that had been turned into a hotel. Based on the decor, one might expect it to be stuffy and formal, but it was comfortable and a little bit whimsical!
It was a close walk to the Salzach River, and Old Town, which we visited daily, and 2 train stations.
Rooms were clean and comfortable, staff was friendly, especially Andy, who went out of his way to be so helpful to us!
The breakfast was simple, but everything was delicious!
Everything was wonderful!

Amazing location, within walking distance of many great restaurants and the old town. Very clean, nice staff, the small breakfast was also nice. Beds are comfortable too and it’s very quiet. Nice place!
Only a small thing, but the TV was very small and kind of old. For a hotel in this price range I’d expect slightly better. But again it’s a small thing that doesn’t matter that much

I booked the superior room and it was very nice, spacious clean and the bed was comfortable the decor up to date and ‘art house’ . The location was good, a 15 minute walk to the old centre along the river.
The breakfast as described was hot drinks and croissants which was perfect for me.
Only comments would be: an extra pillow would be great. Also a kettle/ coffee/ tea making facility.

The hotel was pet friendly with parking on site at extra charge, but only a few so its important to get there early in the day, otherwise you'd need to park on the street. It's well decorated overall, but the rooms were boring and seemed very low budget. Small little TV, beds were ok, a kettle with some coffee. At least there was some complementary water. The location is about 15 min walk from town, so could be better. Free breakfast, but this is only some stale croissants and fruit or jam and toast. And coffee. You can buy some drinks from reception as well and there's a nice lobby and outside spacing to enjoy.
The room was boring and felt a bit low budget. Not really worth the spend. Location a tad bit out of town, but not terrible - 15 min walk. Expensive parking and pet charges.

Great decor. Big room. Comfortable bed. Fabulous shower and love the easy breakfast. Excellent location.
My only complaint would be the pillows. Very flat and floppy and only one each.

Good location, out of the hubbub. Nice old villa.
A little too far (long walk) from the main part of town when it’s very hot (which it was).

Nice hotel with parking on site, friendly staff and excellent location close to the river and Mirabell Gardens.
Tea and coffee in the room would have been nice.
