Overall great stay, great value, and very spacious

We loved the location and the space of the property.

One of the rooms doesn’t have curtains so I didn’t like sleeping in that room with my baby. We closed the shutters from outside but when it was raining, it would open up.

Great location but there were deficiencies that mattered to us that diminished the experience.

The location was great and there was a washer with large drying racks.

The host was less than pleasant when we called for assistance with the lock box. Another renter came to our aid when he saw us struggling and said he had the same issue the day before. The "masterpiece" of directions, as asserted by the host, were not correct. Also, we stayed 4 nights and we were told that toilet paper was only provided for the first day. We were in Europe for over a month and no other accommodation failed to provide enough toilet paper. There was only one key issued and you were locked in the building and the electric gate, so if one of us left with the key, the other was literally locked in- not a safe situation. There was also no dish soap, a sponge or paper towels. Again, every other rental provided these necessities. Overall, nice location and apartment that had a nice patio and a washer and plenty of drying racks, but the details discussed above mattered to us and diminished our experience.

Absolutely filthy and disgusting

Good location

This basement flat is very basic - they provide only the bare minimum, and it is very grubby - one flat, yellowing pillow each and no cushions anywhere so you can’t read in bed and have to fold the pillow over even to sleep. The duvets don’t have covers on which is disgusting as they are really filthy and you can’t help but think about who else has slept under them. One mattress has a huge p*ss stain on it - I wasn’t brave enough to look at the others - and none of them have mattress protectors. The brown blanket things you get absolutely stink and are definitely not washed between guests. You only get one loo roll and a single dishwasher tablet for a 3 day stay which is not what you expect for what you’re paying. The WiFi doesn’t work at all. The people in the flat above will wake you at 6.30am whether you like it or not. The shower is nothing more than a dribble - you would get wetter standing out in the rain. The whole place is just very grotty - there’s scratches and broken things and missing handles, gouges in the furniture and it all just gives the impression that they really do not care at all. The one loo roll thing is just awful - we were only here for a short stay so having to go out to buy loo roll, salt, pepper and washing up liquid just seems really exploitative. For the first time ever, we left dirty dishes when we checked out - I am not buying a whole bottle of washing up liquid for one wash. We did buy more loo rolls but took them away with us to throw away - we knew full well the holiday company would take them for themselves rather than leave them for the next guests- they really do come across as those sort of people - they just take your hard earned money and don’t care if you’re comfortable or not. Reading previous reviews where others have mentioned similar things about filthy duvets and no pillows - they promise to improve it but I can assure you that’s all nonsense- they have changed nothing at all and they really won’t.

Beautiful location, nice accommodations but improvements could make it great

Location great. A bit tricky to find but the pics sent in the email with directions were a big help. Find green garage door just past hotel Dulac and head left down till you see the 20’ gate. Key box is there.

No directions for wifi. Figured out to scan the q code on back of router but Wifi never worked. Went back and forth with management but never resolved and cell service was spotty. Only one small roll of TP for 4 adults is unacceptable. Had to go buy some. IMO a laminated direction sheet for guests re: wifi access, use of washer for non italian speaking would ensure proper use of machine

It was clean, had everything you needed, only thing was we couldn’t use hairdryer as it didn’t fit the socket. Other than this we loved it

We loved Varenna! Great restaurants, beautiful views. Over touristed!!

The location was good - Very convenient- spacious apartment. Multiple fans - with no A/C they were necessary in the extreme heat.

The shower broke on the first evening. Maintenance came the next evening to fix it. There was considerable mould in one of the bedrooms - the maintenance guy kindly cleaned it up. Cleaning staff SHOULD have dealt with it. The parking situation is exceptionally bad - there were occasions when there was nowhere to park - the road was full; the garage was full; the next village was full. We were moved on by police and would be ticketed if we parked anywhere else.

No air conditioning in the apartment. Fans are provided but AC would have made it perfect.

Wonderful stay in prime location in beautiful Varenna. Highly recommend!!!

Wonderful apartment in amazing location! Very clean, rooms were spacious, and did I mention the prime location? 3 of us had more than enough room to spread out and relax. Highly recommend!!!! Mgmt company also very quick to respond & added bonus, they left us a wonderful bottle of wine and some goodies upon arrival, which was very much appreciated! Loved this property in beautiful and charming Varenna, would definitely stay here again! Added bonus - washing machine for our clothes! Tip - we arrived by train. If you don't want to walk to/ from the train station, I suggest taking a taxi to/from the Hotel Grand Victoria, which is located in Varenna's main square. Apartment is steps away from there - will make your life easier!

A minor hiccup retrieving the key from the lockbox upon arrival, but once it was sorted out thanks to quick response from the local mgmt company, the rest of our stay was flawless.

Great apartment, great views! There is an asterisk!

The location was amazing. The rooms were great also.

That we had to undo the sheets, and throw out our own rubbish and not told where the rubbish needed to be thrown. Also that check in was 4pm even though we arrived a while prior and were not able to check in. Check out is strictly 10am. Something has to give there. Also no chairs on the balcony. It's a great shared balcony with mountain and lake view but no chairs is annoying.

really nice apt I would 100% recommend

the apt is big, recently renewed and very clean, equipped with everything! it is fairly close to the ferry station (10 min walk) and the surroundings are just wonderful! the walk to the ferry is full of picturesque houses and many flowers (at least in July). all questions and support info like how to arrive by train and drivers numbers were provided by the host service. when we arrived there were complimentary things like snacks and bevarages.

the beds and pillows were not really comfortable but for a couple of days I cannot really complain. all the appliances work well but it was really difficult to plug in, I had to really push them in and was afraid they would break when I pulled to take out. also, be aware that varenna and all lake como towns are full of stairs and hills to climb, the streets are stones and not cement and it is harsh to drag up and down a 23kg suit case. there is a hill to go down to the apt and a couple of steps. thankfully it is on ground floor.
