Beautifully situated apartment - the view from the tiny terrace was probably one of the best on Varenna's lakeside!

Instructions regarding how to find apartment and access keys excellent and easy to follow.
We informed the agency that we would arrive in Varenna by train a few hours before check in time and asked if there was somewhere to leave our luggage. We were told no and that we should leave it at the shop next to the station, which we did, and it was an exorbitant €5 per bag for just a few hours. However, after walking past the apartment once we arrived in Varenna, and having a quick look at the key safe and how to access the apartment, the lady arrived to do the cleaning and asked if we had any luggage to leave and said that would have been fine!
Apartment was clean but not perfectly so - there were cup marks on 3 of the 4 bedside tables and shampoo/conditioner marks all over the shower doors.
In addition, one of the bedside tables was missing a bedside lamp and one of the chests of drawers had a couple of quite big holes in the top. Not what we would have expected for the price.
Finally, there was no hand soap/handwash anywhere - neither in the kitchen or bathroom - and only 1 tiny toilet roll for a family of 4 adults for 2 nights! Having hand soap/handwash in a holiday apartment is a pretty basic expectation, and again, not what we would have expected for the price.
This was 1 of 6 apartments we stayed in whilst touring around Lombardy for 14 days, and it was the worst value of all of them. Slightly disappointing, if we're being honest.

В объекте не было одноразовых тапочек, также в апартаментах которые рассчитаны на 4 человек была всего одна туалетная бумага, не было ни кофе, ни чая при том что была кофе машина. И это печально так как магазин единственный который есть в городе, в воскресенье был закрыт и невозможно было ничего купить.

We loved the location and the space of the property.
One of the rooms doesn’t have curtains so I didn’t like sleeping in that room with my baby. We closed the shutters from outside but when it was raining, it would open up.

The location was great and there was a washer with large drying racks.
The host was less than pleasant when we called for assistance with the lock box. Another renter came to our aid when he saw us struggling and said he had the same issue the day before. The "masterpiece" of directions, as asserted by the host, were not correct. Also, we stayed 4 nights and we were told that toilet paper was only provided for the first day. We were in Europe for over a month and no other accommodation failed to provide enough toilet paper. There was only one key issued and you were locked in the building and the electric gate, so if one of us left with the key, the other was literally locked in- not a safe situation. There was also no dish soap, a sponge or paper towels. Again, every other rental provided these necessities. Overall, nice location and apartment that had a nice patio and a washer and plenty of drying racks, but the details discussed above mattered to us and diminished our experience.
