Apartment am Hofgarten

A great apartment fitted out to a high specification. The location was perfect - a short walk through the park to the old town and in a really pretty residential neighbourhood. It was fantastic to go out onto the balcony and see mountains. Dr Siewald was pleasant on arrival and departure.

Two weeks before our stay, the hosts asked us to bring a 500 euro refundable cash deposit. This struck me as very unusual and carrying around that amount of cash in an unfamiliar city made me feel very uncomfortable. It was also 50% of the cost of the entire stay which felt very excessive. When I queried this through booking.com - twice - the host simply didn’t reply. It put a dampener on the start of our trip and was an unnecessary stress.

Location was fabulous. Also, we were able to check in early with no problem (or no extra charge) which was wonderful. The apartment itself is pretty and super comfortable. The outdoor seating area is lovely. The kitchen is very well equipped. I loved the fact there was a separate toilet room. Beautiful wine glasses, a few spices and olive oil & balsamic were also provided. And I loved that there is a broom closet with cleaning supplies because I like to sweep the kitchen on a regular basis.

Only a couple of suggestions: provide shampoo and soap for the shower, and change the lighting in the corner bedroom as the little clip-on lights get extremely hot to the touch. Other lighting is great. ALSO - we suggest guests ask for a thorough apartment overview. We didn't realize until the last day that there are blackout shades, which is a wonderful feature we would have loved knowing about earlier. And we struggled to get the washing machine to work; we suggest either the host providing an overview, and/or a manual with instructions in English. One other note: when the host says you need to leave a $500 euro deposit, he means it. He was unhappy that we didn't have it in cash, and leaving a credit card deposit instead didn't work for him.

A well designed apartment with comfortable furnishing and quality equipment. Location is a 6-8 minute walk to the center. Close to Hofgarten therefore peaceful. An ideal place for those that are looking for a peaceful location in Innsbruck.
