The location of Kingfisher Cottage is perfect for walking into central Tavistock - literally a few minutes walk away. The property backs onto the River Tavy with a conservatory dining area and outside decking to take in the view. The cooked breakfast was excellent and the hosts welcoming and friendly but unobtrusive.
Nothing we didn’t like - only criticism would be that room we stayed in might benefit from a refresh in decor.

Great property, lovely, friendly people. Comfortable beds and good facilities.
The only drawback is the parking but it can be managed.

Breakfast was lovely. Hosting really good. Perfect location
Love Tavistock. It's my home town.
Little bit tired in places particularly en suite room. Smelt a bit damp but understand time of year and location by river. Good value for money. Nice experience for 1 night

The bed was very comfortable and good breakfast. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Loved the view of the rapid flowing river from the breakfast room and the Christmas decorations.

Parking is a bit tight in front of the property but there is a long stay public car park close by.

Paul was very friendly and welcoming. He took the time to explain everything. He was also very happy to provide an early breakfast which itself was really nice. Great place to stay and very close to shops and restaurants.
Everything was great but a really, really minor thing would be car headlights lighting up the room occasionally. It definitely did not effect my sleep but a blackout curtain may help. I was in the road facing room therefore other rooms would not be impacted. I should add that I could not hear any road noise.

Great location, host very friendly and chatty. Comfortable room, lovely fluffy towels. Excellent breakfast. Good value.
Parking was sorted easily but is tight, given the location. The bedroom was very small, as was the bathroom, but perfectly functional.

Location much better than expected. It felt longer by driving to Kingfisher , but was literally a mini walk to where I had to be. Will return when required definitely.
Room was perhaps too small. Would not deter me. Shower cubicle, was too small. Only criticism.

The hosts were e extremely nice and pleasant and could not do enough for you. Albeit a small double it was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast each morning was a delight, one of the best we’ve had at any B&B that we have stayed.
Nothing at all.

Characterful cottage, with lovely riverside setting, watching and hearing the birdlife from the breakfast conservatory. Outdoor decking for dry weather. Didn't spot a kingfisher but apparently often sighted. Wide and good quality selection of breakfast items, beautifully cooked to order. Friendly, thoughtful and accomodating hosts who make you feel very welcome. Triple glazed window with (silent) fresh-air-vent unit in front bedroom ensured a good, comfortable night's sleep, undisturbed by traffic. Great value.
Very small en-suite bathroom (shower) with a louvre door, but perfectly adequate, made good use of the available space and was great to have.

Paul and Carla were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent. It was great to be able to leave the car and walk around the town. It was lovely to be able to buy a takeaway in the evening and eat it on their verandah overlooking the river.
There was nothing to dislike.

Hosts were very friendly. In a great location near to the shops and restaurants etc and a lovely view at breakfast of the river. A great place to stay if you enjoy walking etc as loads of good walks and places to visit nearby. A very reasonable price with the cooked breakfast included. The room was clean, had everything I needed and I got a good night's sleep there. There's a convenient car park nearby to charge any electric vehicles.
The parking can be a bit of a faff, depending on the other guests, but the hosts manage it as best they can and it wasn't a major problem.

Friendly B&B backing on to the beautiful River Tavy a couple of minute's walk from the centre of this picturesque market town. The double room is compact, but everything was spotlessly and well equipped with tea & coffee makings, tv etc. It faced the road and I worried about noise on the hottest night of the year but they have it all sorted with triple glazing and a clever fresh air vent system plus a fan provided. The little ensuite likewise clean and well maintained. Paul and Carla are exceptionally welcoming hosts, accommodating any requests e.g. iron and ironing board set up for me in the spacious lounge within minutes of my asking, encouraging guests to make use of the lounge and riverside deck. The breakfast was great, served in a lovely sunroom overlooking the river. Represents excellent value in Tavistock where the other options are pricey.
It's a lovely historic town on beautiful Dartmoor with gorgeous riverside parks, museum, heritage trails and an abundance of lovely cafes well worth a visit.
Nothing really. The en suite double room is small and faces the road but functional and the glazing reduces road noise. Maybe curtains could be more light proof.
