Clean and not too expensive hotel in Swiss mountains, close to the motorway if you are driving

- It was the cheapest place I could find in Zurich area in July.... I know.. it's not close to Zurich, but you have to weigh the cost of driving vs the cost of staying, plus if you are planning on driving anyways, it won't matter that much. - Amden village is in the mountains, so if the weather is good the views can be very nice (it was pouring for 4 days so we didn't get to enjoy it unfortunately) - It is a clean, cosy, family-run little hotel, and the room was big enough to fit 2 adults and 2 kids... Savings are good... for those of us who are struggling to get to grips with how expensive Switzerland is... - The host is trying to be very friendly

- Breakfast is rather basic. One of those days you begin to value full English breakfast. Based on that experience we decided to opt out of evening meals and just buy our own food as we go. - The room did not have coat hangers although there is space on the walls that could be used for that purpose, for example near the entrance. - Also no TV, but I guess who needs it when you are in these gorgeous surroundings (except when it pours for 4 days) - Thin walls, so any noise is very clearly heard

Breakfast was not upto the expectation. Infact disappointed with breakfast. There cheese sheets sliced into 2 and if you want a second coffee you should pay. But may be for 10€ that’s what you will get in Switzerland. But the guy there was saying that, you will get special breakfast . That actually made us feel like we were being cheated.

The hotel and its location and the host worthed for what we paid.

The hospitality of the host was excelent. We paid 10chf per person per day for the breakfast which was fair price comparing to other hotels and what we got to eat. We have also had an indian food as dinner one night which was really tasty. The outdoor restaurant had a very beautiful view to the lake and mountain. Parking was free of charge. The room was delivered totally cleaned with all clean sheets and beds. The location is really good. Easy access to many hiking areas, telecabines and lifts, lake and its swimming site and ferry for lake tour.

There was not a daily roome service, towel and toilet paper were provided as per request. There was not tv or hair drier, refrigrator and iron in the room. During the night you could hear the noise from upper floor if people were walking. Our room didn't have any nice view to lake or mountain however in reservation it was read that room will have view to lake or mountains.
