The Vermont ApartHotel

Good facilities and cleanliness and great central location

Nothing

Beds were comfy and the location was great. For the price it was a great value for money and made for a great place on the two nights we based ourselves out of Newcastle. Generally it all looked very nice and they didn’t skimp in items like the bed. There were areas that probably needed a little more love or investment - showers weren’t always well designed or functional.

The lounge was a bit odd and largely just functional. The sofas were odd custom built units that felt more like booths from a restaurant. There was a kitchen but not always easy to use. They also take a deposit per room which you don’t find out about until just before your check in. It’s £100 per room and not returned for up to two weeks after the stay so factor that into your stay. It seems odd when most places just take an authorisation these days.

Location.

Heating wasn’t working so we were quite cold.

Entrance & Reception: Very nice decor with a stylish Art Deco theme. Bedrooms: Clean, nicely presented, and feature comfortable beds with TVs in both rooms. Bathrooms: Convenient setup (one en-suite, plus a separate full bathroom). They come equipped with high-quality hand wash, shampoo, body wash, and lovely fluffy towels.

Overall Condition: The property feels tired and is in clear need of some TLC. Windows & Noise: The bedroom windows were extremely dirty, completely blocking the view. Severe street/nightlife noise from local bars and clubs lasted until around 4:00 AM. Living Area Layout: The seating area felt odd and uncomfortable—more like a pub bench seat than a relaxing sofa to watch TV. Kitchen Issues: The dishwasher door was broken and wouldn't close, rendering it unusable. The kitchen sink had no plug, making washing dishes unnecessarily difficult.
