Fine hotel for a weekend break, disappointing breakfast

Location good for train station and visiting the landmarks

Heating in bedroom - instructions are not very clear at all and the room was often cold as we could not work out the thermostat. Needs clearer instructions as there is a fan setting as well as heat setting (not mentioned!). Breakfast was disappointing, poor quality hot food and no fried eggs available? We understand its a budget hotel but we've had way better at the likes of travelodge and Premierinn.. the only eggs available were scrambled, which were like rubber and tasteless (on both days), really poor for a hotel of Hiltons reputation. The Sunday morning was pretty chaotic as extremely busy and not enough tables at one point so we went away and came back (but was still very busy and very long queues). Waffle maker is a lovely addition but as only one there was a very long queue so we didn't bother. The area around the hotel is party central which was not for us (loads of hen do's, stag do's etc) - our fault for not researching the area properly and not a reflection on the hotel, just a note for other travellers.

The location directly across from the train station was ideal, the cleanliness and size of the room was perfect for us, the bar area was well stocked and clean, the breakfast was varied and fresh, and the reception staff were excellent.

The sofa bed wasn’t set up and the mattress was a little hard, but the staff were very quick to respond and correct the oversight. The breakfast had no glasses for drinks and staff didn’t fill them up. The lifts were temperamental, two different buttons and in one lift the number had slipped and wouldn’t let you go to the floor you wanted.

Every thing about hotel excellent

Breakfast was very good,great selection.Locationis ideal right opposite the train station..We were going to the arena to watch the darts, Hotel only about10-15 minutes away from the arena by foot.Would recommend this hotel

Scarlett in reception is absolutely fantastic, so friendly, helpful and full of knowledge on the hotel and city. What a great memory too 😊 Room was clean and tidy, bathroom very clean. Breakfast fabulous with plenty of choice. Location excellent

It’s location

The beds are just mattress on a sheet of hardboard as the base and the mattress slips and kept hitting legs off corners as base larger . The shower rail that held on glass door was away from wall did not feel was safe. When brought to attention of staff right away was told sorry maintenance did not work weekends. This was something that should have been noticed when room was being prepared on the Friday. The juice at breakfast is just like water no taste . I don’t normally leave bad reviews I just don’t do any if there is a problem but at price paid for 2 rooms it was over priced.

Beds wer so uncomfortable ther was 3 of us in one room all adults one had to sleep on sofa bed mattress was awful dipped in middle and was only about 4 inches thick the double bed mattress was so hard we barely slept and was 3 nights we stayed we did ask if could have a better room with decent beds but were told no

Breakfast was lovely. Location ex excellent, right across the road from railway station which is why we book it. Also don't have to check out till 12.00. We were also allowed an early check in. Staff are so obliging.

Poor, if I had needed to stay another night I would have booked into another hotel, disappointed.

Breakfast was poor for the cooked food option, scrambled egg only ( think this was powdered) asked if there were any fried or poached and told no we don't do them ( stood at the counter for a good minute whilst staff talked in the back, felt like they ignore residents) Sausages were terrible, not edible. One banana available at (0750hrs) 20 mins later, still not refilled. No Apples or oranges on display - you say the breakfast is complimentary, I would prefer to pay for a proper spread and ensure its worth having. Staff on duty in the kitchen that day were poor ambassadors for the company.

Hotel was dirty, lift door outside was splattered in dried liquid stain and still there in the morning. My room smelt of drains, carpet was dirty, couldn't open a window, bed was poor quality - sounds like I'm moaning but this place needs looking at for the price.

Brilliant hotel, highly recommended

Everything. Location is unbeatable. Rooms were exactly as depicted on the website but felt even better than expected. Reception staff, Megan and Harry, were lovely (friendly and efficient, and sorted us out with 3 rooms (for family of 3 couples) on the same floor without us asking). Lifts were working fine and stairs were immediately adjacent so no hassle at all zipping in and out, as we did a few times over the weekend. View from our room was fab, overlooking grand property opposite, and the railway station. Breakfast was good, and a booth for 6 was ideal for us. There was no rammy at breakfast as often occurs in other places, just quiet, efficient service. Also, the main bar of the hotel was fab early evening for a cocktail when we first arrived and was bouncing (same later on). It was a wonderful atmosphere, such fun. I loved this hotel and would definitely recommend it. It was also the cheapest option in town and right opposite the train station. Definitely 10 out of 10 from all of us 😁.

Lovely hotel avoid room 528 unless the mattress has been changed

Stayed in room 528. Bed was so uncomfortable. So hard and every spring made a noise when you moved or turned over. Never experienced this before in this hotel. Have made reception staff aware.

We enjoyed our stay at Hampton by Hilton!

Conveniently close to Train Station and City Centre. As close to train station, easily accessible to public transport, like trains, metro, buses and taxis. We also enjoyed the selection of breakfast offered and the hotel bar. Good size twin room with comfortable beds and decent bathroom. Also the hotel offered luggage storage prior to check-in, which came in handy as I had a work commitment to attend. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Hampton by Hilton and would come back again!

There was some confusion with using the second lift, next to the servicing lift and getting up to floor 6. We’d press the button and it would only go up to 5 or 7. We later discovered on checkout, the issue was with the button lights. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay.
