Uitstekend huis, van alle gemakken voorzien (inclusief airco), en met een prachtige, zeer grote tuin, plus boom- en wijngaard. Zeer gastvrije ontvangst door de eigenaar en zijn vrouw.

We chose this spot as a place to recharge between Rome and Florence, in search of a little peace and a garden view, somewhere close to a proper small town. It checked every box. The house is well equipped everything you need, nothing you don’t. There’s a pool for lazy afternoons, and the garden has enough corners for you to lose yourself with a cup of coffee or an impromptu picnic.
The hosting family? Top notch. And the people of Orvieto are genuinely warm. It’s a refreshing change of pace after the chaos of Rome 😂. Getting into town is an uphill walk with only a sliver of sidewalk, but most drivers are alert, and we never felt unsafe. Honestly, it’s the perfect excuse to burn off all that pizza and pasta 😂.
If you’re after a slice of real Italy, where you can actually hear yourself think, this is your place.
IIf you have small children or are not in good physical shape, you will need a car, as the walk to town is along a main road and requires a certain level of fitness. During our stay, the internet was not working due to a general outage in the region. This was not the host’s fault. Fortunately, we were able to use our own mobile data, although there were moments when that was also limited.

The Chiodi family hosted my daughter and myself for our week-long stay in Orvieto. They were charming and generous hosts. If, as I hope, we return to Orvieto next year we would certainly seek them out again.
