Lovely spacious communal space with logburner. Facilities to reheat food and make hot drinks. A fridge in the room.
It was very cold when we arrived but I understand the property had been closed for decoration so had not been used for two weeks before we arrived!

The Loch Ness Guest House is excellent value for money and any reviews must take this into consideration. We found our room (number 5) to be big enough for our 2 day visit but others staying longer may not. Our room, like everywhere else, was spotlessly clean, warm, with a comfortable king-size bed and the shower warmed up quickly and provided plenty of hot water. The television had plenty of streaming channels if broadcast TV isn't enough to entertain you during your stay and a larger screen is situated in the common room near the dining area where you are asked to eat any food brought in from outside. The guest house doesn't have a liquor licence but bringing your own to drink in the common room is encouraged as is considering others and not being rowdy. Breakfast is described as "complimentary" and provides plenty of basics such as ham, cheese, cereals, toast and coffee to help start the day.
I particularly liked the self-service nature of The Loch Ness Guest House. Before you arrive on the first morning of your stay you will receive an email with the entry code for the front door and your room number. The key to your room will be on your bed and that's it, you're in.
There's nothing to dislike about the Loch Ness Guest House as you can see from my review, but with 12 rooms it's unlikely that the car park will be sufficient to accommodate a car for every room. For clarity, this is an observation and not an experience we had during our visit.

The guest house was great. It is walking distance to restaurants and bars, clean and quiet. The room was small but served our purposes. Breakfast was great.

Nice building and easy to find.
Wow - ÂŁ140 and the three person room was tiny, felt super cramped and there was a loud banging going on around 8:30pm for awhile. Then the radiator in our room kept clanging through the night waking us up frequently. Were grateful to be up early and thought we were at least going to be given a good breakfast (considering the cost) but nothing cooked. A table with some add-hot-water porridge, a selection of cereals and croissants. All stuff we had with us anyway. Place is great if the price matched but ÂŁ140 really left a foul aftertaste for us.

Comfy, clean rooms, good breakfast, and great location -- only a pleasant, quick stroll from the canal and locks, where there are several pubs and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

Lovely building, room clean, easy parking
Due to Hurricane Amy we had no electricity for 2 nights, the room was dark and cold and no hot water, totally understood the issues but I was surprised that there was no communication and staff did not check in at all, to find out if we were ok. Felt unsafe due to no electricity.

Room 10 was spacious and had a great view of the hills to the rear of the property. The communal area downstairs was comfortable and had good facilities like a microwave, kettle, large TV and even a log burner. I think it would be a great place to stay if you were travelling with a large group.
The garden was full of wildlife: pheasants, rabbits, hedgehogs and robins. The location is ideal just a short walk from the main attractions of Fort Augustus town.
The self-check in process went smoothly and it was a very laid-back, “hands-off” experience by actually not seeing a staff member the entire time I was there.
The continental breakfast selection was good considering they call it complimentary. Things like toast, ham, cheese, yoghurts and cereals.
My room wasn’t cleaned to a good standard. The fridge was dirty, there was a food wrapper on the floor beneath the desk and the edges of the carpets particularly around the bed and bedside tables looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in a long time.
Considering the price I paid, I expected a little more quality but my room seemed to be quite cheaply refurbished. Paint chipping off the window frames, a huge gap under the door, lumpy pillows and uncomfortable mattresses, cheap door handles. Lacking in care and attention to detail.
My biggest concern was the bathroom which was poorly ventilated and full of black mould on the ceiling. I had a shower in the early evening and every surface of the bathroom was still damp the following morning. It was one of the more expensive places I stayed on my trip, but sadly also the dirtiest.

You were welcome to use the breakfast area including the kitchenette any time of the day.
The lounge lobby area was very open with a lovely garden view.

Convenient for Fort Augustus. Comfortable room on ground floor with ensuite bathroom and TV. Parking on site.
No proper dining area. A continental breakfast was provided that was adequate. The whole place seemed a bit jaded and in need of freshening up. I wouldn't call it 'cosy'

Location is perfect. We went for the small double and it’s small but for one night it was fine , clean and had a brilliant shower .
On arrival we were welcomed in and given an explanation as to how the place worked which was helpful .
The communal area is great looking out onto the garden and hills beyond . There are plenty tables and seating area and a television . There is a kitchen area if you wanted to bring in a takeaway which we thought was a great idea!
The continental breakfast in the morning was good too with plenty of choice .
It’s not a dislike as such but the small double really is very cosy if you have overnight bags so I’d probably go for the larger room if I was to stay again .

Good location, close to the town centre. Helpful friendly staff. Bright roomy communal areas with tables, cutlery and dishes available to bring in take away food.
Continental breakfast was an unexpected bonus for a room only booking.

Loved the room itself, great aspect looking out the window, and plenty of wildlife to look at outside. Cool that rooms were named after different Lochs too.
Couldn't really fault it.
