The staff are great and it's a welcoming place, which caters well for groups. The weekend I was there was the feis, so a lot of musicians, and staff dealt brilliantly with everyone. It's always clean and organised, and a great location for exploring the area.
Kitchen is quite small if lots of people self catering.

The kitchen facilities were good. However, I found myself washing up and cleaning tables as some people have no shame.
I wish check in could be a bit earlier. The room smelt a bit stuffy.

Very quiet, warm, cosey, great location and easy access with great facilities.

Great place. It reminded me of the hostels Ivdtayed in in New Zealand and Australia in my youth.
If I had to nitpick, the parking area could go with marking stripes to fit more cars in. (People are greedy with space in general)

What a wonderful little place! Morag’s Lodge was a welcome refuge after a long day on the Great Glen Way. The winter season self-check-in procedure was very efficient and worked perfectly. The hostel is also ideally situated for taking advantage of the various cafes, pubs, shops and other amenities available in Fort Augustus. I set off the next day well fed and well rested! I would definitely visit again.

I paid for a single room with a shared bathroom, but I got put in a room alone with an ensuite. That was a plus. I didn't have high expectations. My one-time experience staying in a hostel accommodation left me not expectant of hygiene and comfort.
But Morag's lodge blue, my mind. It was clean and quiet. Everything about self checking was easy. I enjoyed my stay.
Can't really say I didn't like anything.

I had a private room as I had my dog with me . Lovely hostel . Great location .

The welcome was fantastic, the receptionist explained everything with cheerful welcome.
The room was very warm after being hours outdoors hikking, hot shower, spacious lounge are to sit in and relax.
The doors were closing quite loud so you could hear from next door, but personally Im good sleeper, it wasn't affecting me.

The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the shower was good. We were able to leave the windows open to keep it cool in the room. Being able to buy the breakfast option in the morning was a really nice bonus. It was pretty basic, but a good way to fuel up for the day and a good value.

The room was big enough. Breakfast was good.
The mattresses were only semi comfortable.

Good accommodation near Loch Ness. Great organized shared kitchen/fridge. We also took advantage of the option to order dinner and were satisfied. We were very happy to be able to use the heating after we got soaked.
In the evening/night, the fuses blew, we couldn't charge our mobile phones, but the staff immediately resolved it in the morning.

Friendly atmosphere, good food, comfortable setting.
Rooms were hot. As we are motorcyclists that got soaked it suited us to dry our clothes.
There was also a drying room available for anyone with wet walking clothing to dry, although the hangers were a little unsuitable for heavy motorcycle clothing. Wooden hangers would have been more effective holding wet textile clothing.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. The first time I've stayed in hostel accommodation. Provided suitable accommodation for a fantastic price.
Would recommend.
Hangers in the drying room were very flimsy. Perhaps consider changing for wooden to hold heavier items of clothing. (Motorcycles)

Honestly, I did not like a whole lot about the property. If the service was good, then I would probably have given better reviews.
Parking lot was full and I had to walk up the street to park my car. The sign at the parking lot said “no overnight parking.” However I was reassured by the front desk that I should be OK, which I was. But it still made me nervous to park there. And I walked up at least 3 to 4 times that evening, and move my car first thing in the morning.
There was no hot water or the hot water would last maybe 2 to 3 minutes. When I bought it to the attention of the front desk, they asked me to wait 20 minutes because they only have one water heater and it’s for the entire facility. It was a nightmare experience.
I have allergies, which get worse with hiking or staying outdoors for long period of time. They did not have a fan to provide. If I left the windows open my allergies get worse. When I close the windows, it gets hot and stuffy. Unfortunately, the medication does not help a lot when I am outdoors all day.
Lastly, the front desk staff, were impolite and unable to understand my concerns. They kept making excuse excuses for why the parking lot was full, and why the water heater was not able to provide for all residents/hosts.

The facility is a short talk away fromt the town. It has facility for bicycle storage which can be full, it is advisable to request ahead. The lodge is mainly configured as share room, but it may be booked as private room with bathroom probably due to low season. The staff is friendly and explain everything clearly. There is commual kitchen, laundry and even a bar.
If you consider it as a hostel it meet all expectation. If you book as a hotel, then I would wish it provide towels which can be bought for 1 pound so it wasn't really a bad point.

Before we got to Morag's, the communication was fantastic with very quick responses. The property was easy to find and in an ideal location! We were staying for 1 night to break up the journey to the Outer Hebrides and it was ideal.
We got a very warm welcome and given all the information we could need for a great stay. The rooms were spotless and we loved the kitchen and communal areas.
When we booked we thought it was quite pricey for a hostel, but when we arrived we quickly changed our mind. It is great value for money.
As a vegan with food allergies we decided against paying for the continental breakfast or an of the diner options so can't comment on these.
If we're in the area again, we won't hesitate to book a stay here.
Thank you!
Nothing, for the time we were there, everything was perfect.

Clean, tidy and close to town.
Wasn’t good value for money. No frills is ok, but price should reflect that.

The room was basic but comfortable with a lovely hot shower. Breakfast was inexpensive but sufficient and quick. Location was good away from the busy town and staff were friendly.

Comfy clean and warm and a range of amenities
The water pressure is my only gripe but it's miniscule compared to how nice the place is

Very cosy hostel. Great bar and friendly staff. Very basic breakfast but there is enough to keep you going till noon. Location is in a very quiet neighborhood and plenty of parking space. Very friendly staff.
Given the mindset of the hostel, everything was as expected. Maybe a bit more choice with the breakfast.

Very conveniently located
I had understood that personal bedding should be brought, but sheet duvet with cover along with pillow were supplied which is welcome; even if we were requested to strip the bed on leaving.
There are a lot of rules
I understand this may be something to do with the ‘hostel’ nature of the establishment. Possibly necessary because a lot of people don’t know how to behave.

As a hiker I didn´t need a lot, but the atmosphere and hospitality were really nice and very welcomed. Lot of space in the room, bathroom in the room, lot of shared places with library and very good dinner. I had possibility to ordere packed lunch for the next day hike, so perfect service. All the stuff I met were very nice and helpful I fully recommend and imagine to stay for more than 1 night. It is a nice quiet place in very good location with all you need for comfortable stay.
Than you!

Immaculately clean and cozy room. Staff were so nice and helpful. Great facilities, loved having access to the couches in the lounge area and the bar was great too. Drying room was a godsend for drying out my stuff after a rainy walk into Fort Augustus. Dinner was tasty and they’ve got butteries at breakfast, what more could you want :)
No complaints! Hostel is slightly apart from high street area, but still close enough.

Room was great, we stayed in the "Robert the Bruce" room, the room size was great, and the bathroom was great.
Kitchen facilities was great, the bar was great. No complaints here, staff were friendly and helpful.
The beds were not comfortable, and towels were not supplied to the rooms.
If those two things were addressed, that would make this 10/10. Everything else was great, from parking, to staff attentiveness, to conditions.

The location was perfect, easy walk down to the Loch and the rest of the amenities in the village. There was such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere around the place. So very easy going. Folks wandering around in their socks in the evening and at breakfast just gave it a lovely, homely feel.
The room was very spacious - for a family of 4 with all our luggage, we had plenty of space.
Can't fault the place. Some dodgy handwritten cards in the Uno deck in the bar, but can't blame the staff for that!!

It was so refreshing experience to stay at the lodge. The location of the lodge is excellent - just 2 mins from Loch Ness centre at Fort Augustus. The staff is super friendly, cheerful and energetic. The breakfast is quite fulfilling, worth every single penny of it or even more than that. The beds were very comfortable in the room with very clean, tidy and suitable sized room. The en suite bathroom was also big and super clean.

The staff here were super nice and the dinner that you could order was also fantastic. Very tasty and a great value for money. The breakfast was buffet style and also a good value.
Parking is a bit tight if you arent there early in the day (we arrived at 7 pm), but we managed.

Very well organised and comfortable, considering that it is a hostel.
