Stag and Huntsman

A perfect place to stay for what we were doing near Henley. It was quiet and the room/bathroom was very nice and comfortable. The property had a nice feel about it.

The bathroom had a bath which was great but the soap/shampoo dispensers were attached to the tiled wall in completely the wrong place. They weren’t near the shower head so you had to walk to the end of the bath to use them. And, sitting in the bath was even worse because you had to get up every time you wanted to use the soap. This is not easy for an older person and, in fact, it is incredibly dangerous. I had to unscrew the soap dispenser, by the basin, and put it on the edge of the bath and use it that way. It is a bad design and unthoughtful. Not ideal. It was unexpected to find that the pub car park was pay and display. Surely this will stop customers from coming to stay or drink/eat there? We did not have breakfast because we were horrified that it was not included in the price of the room. We thought the room price was quite expensive for what we were getting and felt that breakfast should definitely have been included. What’s more, our friends had to pay £4 for a cup of coffee!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even re arranged the date of our arrival as I had previously booked the wrong year!

What a fabulous find, location stunning, quintessential english picture postcard village where the Stag and Huntsman is the beating heart. The staff were simply wonderful, where nothing was too much troble. And the breakfast was fabulously tasty. Plus dog friendly and great value. It was so good we extended our stay.

Beautiful old hotel/pub, charming staff, very comfortable.

The high prices they charge are not justified, especially for meals, which were disappointing. The evening meal menu was bland and more appropriate for the 1970s than the 2020s: no vegetarian menu, very sparse and very unsatisfactory, bland and uninspiring vegetarian choices; no identification of which choices were vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. Meals grossly overpriced for what they were. Breakfast was even more of a disgrace: they had no vegetarian sausages!! Is there any other hotel in UK with none of these for breakfast! No vegetarian offer at all, and complete lack of healthy cereals or porridge.
