Lovely decor having recently been refurbished. Very welcoming feeling in the bar area. The reception and bar staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. The evening food was excellent - particularly the cheese soufflé! Great location adjacent to the shops. Very comfortable beds. Did not have the breakfast as it was expensive, so we went to a local cafe.
No lift! The staircases and corridors were particularly twisty, narrow and tortuous for me and my friend in our 70s. A bedside lamp was missing so I had to move a desk lamp. And no car park. There’s one round the corner but they should arrange a discount.

Friendly staff. The room was a good size and was decorated well. The bed was super comfortable. There were some nice touches like small treats on arrival, ear plugs by the bedside. The room had a thermostat which worked as an air conditioning (rare in uk hotels and very needed being the top floor). The shower was great. Although it’s on the high street, it’s at the end, so we heard no noise at night from the street. We would definitely stay again.
No parking. There is on the street parking outside which they say you can use for more than the advised time, as it’s private land. However, there was a market on that street the next morning so all cars had to move. So we used a local car park. Which was a 5 minute walk and cost £6.50 for 24 hours.
