Great location. Ample off street parking. Warm
clean room.
Minor building maintenance needed . Beer garden bbq area could be put to
use , plenty of unused space for local
musicians. Food-, it would be nice to
be able to rely on advertised availability of food .

I didn't have breakfast but at the time due to a kitchen refurb, this wasn't an option
Water pressure was quite poor, no. notice of the restaurant being closed when I booked the hotel so had to find alternative places to eat after a long day at work....quite frustrating. The staff were lovely and apologised but know that the lack of comms wasn't down to them
Mattress was very bouncy and the base of the bed looked very tatty....just needs a valence!

What i have liked for 59+ yrs .
Lies. Food never available. customers complain . some staff rude- never stay behind the bar & try to have "service with a smile". Dirty drinks = sour face from bartender as if aged drinkers are liars . Absurd z

I ended up not staying the night as I was so disappointed.
The hotel was advertised as having food. No evening meal was available. I asked the staff about where to eat nearby nearby. They had no information and could not tell me if breakfast would be available in the morning. The decor was poor. The staff were unfriendly and I was not confident about security.

i like the location & nice setting. Bed was comfortable, nice and warm room with window view of a courtyard.
It would be nice if more food was available. Better area for kettle .

Nice second night stay. Breakfast & service was good. Warm room, comfortable bed.
As mentioned, kettle area should be better - a cord so it reaches the table. Food available as per web advertisement & signs outside .

Breakfast on 26th was adequate.
Was disappointed not to be advised prior to arrival that breakfast was cancelled on 25th. This is understandable being Christmas Day, but with earlier advice, we could have planned ahead
See above.
Curtains in the bedroom need to be rehung

There was nothing to like, we were moved to room 11 after I threatened court action. This room was no better and the wash sink area was disgusting.
This place spoiled our visit to our daughter. The place should be shut down.
The first room 2 was disgusting and dangerous the corridor lighting was broken, the shower door came off in my hand, the kettle had to be used on a flooring socket. There was no sink plug.

The hotel was well located & had a large car park to the rear.
Breakfast was well cooked.
The hotel was adequate but is in need of refurbishment.
The breakfast although well cooked was over priced.
The cook only spoke very limited English & struggled to understand basic requests

I really liked it here, it had a great feel to it, the food was nice but maybe a bit overpriced, had a chat with some locals in the bar area and they were all welcoming, the barmaid/waitress was very good and approachable. The room was nice and the bed was really comfortable.
I thought the other staff seemed just a little unprofessional but still attentive to needs of customers.

Staff helpful and pleasant. Cheap!
Uncomfortable, not very clean. Not a very nice bedroom. Not a good night's sleep. Didn't bother with breakfast.

Location of hotel is good and we had a large room & the beds were comfortable. It is an old building with lots of history. Our room was right above the hanging sign outside but we quickly got used to the squeaks as it moved in the wind
The owners are doing work to update and improve the hotel but at the moment it feels tired! What the info doesn't tell you is that parking has to be validated at the hotel. However we arrived around 8pm on a Sunday night following a phone call saying how to find our key as the bar/restaurant was closing early. Found our key easily but wasn't able to validate the parking as the pad to do so was in the locked bar. We were not informed of any of this on the phone call!. The next day as we were up and out early, I phoned the hotel to try and sort this and the only help I was offered was to pass us onto the car parking company. Again unhelpful as signs around the car park say that disputes can't be dealt with on site! The only way I can deal with this is to wait for the £100 ticket to arrive and then dispute it, which is a worry and NOT needed. Either move the pad to entrance or add another pad in the hotel part (Same entrance way used for bar and hotel, but one on the first floor would work), or the hotel could ask for car registration and input this to ensure that guests are covered. When we left the only person we could find in the hotel to try and make a complaint to didn't speak English nor did they pass us onto anyone else who could.
We had asked for a shower room as I'm disabled and can't step into a bath. Unfortunately this meant we were up on the second floor. The shower cubicle was tiny and opened straight into the bedroom rather than having an area to dry which means water from bodies and the door got onto the floor. The toilet was also tiny and we were afraid to flush the toilet during the night as we could hear the person in the nest room snoring whilst in there and didn't want to disturb them.

Location was great. Rooms were tired but atmospheric.
Breakfast was very cheap ingredients. Not a good quality.

It had parking
It wasn’t very clean, it was tired, dated, curtains were hanging of their rails, the shower was mouldy. The bed was lumpy. The windows were filthy.

Good parking facilities. Bed was large and very comfy. Lots of space in the room and bathroom.
Very welcoming staff.
Quite dated throughtout, although I was expecting that as it's an old building with lots of history.
Could have done with more than 1 pillow each.

It was cold , the carpet was threadbare and the walls dirty

location very good. Nice atmosphere in the bar for drinks
generally a bit tatty, especially the bedroom. Fine for a 1-night stay for work but would want a better room if it was a holiday trip. Menu looked a bit limited, and certainly £7.50 for 4 tiny chicken wings wasn't great value.

We loved the quirky rooms and booked for another night at the end of our stay in the UK. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable and provided a great selection of tea and coffee and bottles of water
There wasn’t anything we disliked

Breakfast wasn't offered, neither was an evening meal (there wasn't;t any food!!).
All of the above and then at 8pm the bar (note that there is no where else to sit) which is a public bar closed even to residents...

Convienient location, quaint pub with potential, clean room
A little overpriced for what it is, in desperate need of a refurb, window didn’t shut properly, curtains half hanging off the rail, bathroom very very basic for the price, the room description said it had a coffee machine and hairdryer, it had neither

The property is an old Coaching Inn and has immense potential; sadly the rooms feel unloved, tired and dilapidated. It's a quaint place, the bar downstairs was nice, well-stocked and not too expensive. The staff were helpful. It was close to the attractions we planned to visit and a good place to meet up with friends. There was free parking. Our room and bathroom were clean, if not a little tired. The bed was clean and comfortable.
The property has immense potential, and with a modest investment, it could become a stunning place. It is full of history, sadly, it has been left to become tired. It needs to be decorated, and appropriate decor, plus a little TLC. Breakfast was very expensive for what it was, with very little choice. If you wanted tea and coffee with your breakfast, there was an added cost, the same with if you wanted a fruit juice. For the price of a room, I was surprised that breakfast and tea/coffee was not included. I had to check my booking as I thought I had booked B&B. The food itself was okay, again, with a little thought, it could be much better. The bread used was a cheap white sliced bread, and it was the only option. I advised the staff that I was gluten-free, but was told were no other options available, and I am not sure if the young man I spoke with was even aware of what I meant. I also asked if they had any alternative milk, such as Soya, but they said no. In this day and age, requesting alternatives for food allergies is not something that should be an issue. From a company that made £198 million last year, you'd expect better.

The staff were all lovely and really helpful. It is a very old building so old and full of character, with wonky walls and quirky floors, which all added to the charm of the property.
Road noise, but this was only because it was hot and we had the windows open. There were temporary road works, which didn’t help, totally not the hotel’s fault

Pillows were filthy dirty, broken hazardous tiles in bathroom, no place to boil kettle apart from the floor, dressing table / desk extremely dirty, no bathroom blind.
A double room with only 1 set of towels, wires and cables loose from tv, human hair in baked bean dish at breakfast

Excellent location, friendly staff and free car parking in on sitecar park. Very close to local attractions.
The water pressure was very low in the shower room, and the shower took a very long time to warm up.

The location. And the bed was very comfy
The shower was located in the room which caused a smell of damp. It also could do with a deep clean the shower curtain was moldy.
The room was very dark due to the bulb missing and the colour it was painted
2.0 / 10.0
Good location for where wanted to be - free wifi and free parking - bed was soft and comfortable
Lovely old building with wonky floors and low ceilings
Cannot comment about food as never ordered any but another family was struggling with so many options not available on an already limited menu.
Paid extra to check in early as needed to rest before going out that evening - as expected road noise which wasn't an issue but the continuous door slamming from what I can only assume is the kitchen that literally shook the walls did not assist in being able to rest. This continued the entirety of the stay (Until we went out at 5pm) and began again from about 6am Sunday!
2 pillows on the bed - with a pair of spare pillows in the wardrobe - without pillowcases and the state of them was cringe disgusting with sweat marks all over them. Didn't dare look at the ones on the bed without pillowcases.
The room still smelt of paint so they are clearly revamping the rooms sadly cleaning/updating the bathroom of mold in the shower and broken tiles outside of the shower is yet to come. Shower was a poor excuse with more water coming out of the handle than the fine mist of the shower head.
Other guests in the car park as we were checking out had similar comments to ours - its a shame as it could be a stunning hotel/pub but right now would not recommend to any other travellers

The staff.
Not much. The building itself is stunning. Inside has been neglected. Not very clean, in serious disrepair. Please see photos, although I couldn’t up load them all. If you don’t like spiders, I suggest you re think your visit

Large room with 2 double beds
Large bathroom
Great for us as able to take little dog.
Room expensive £140 for 1 night without breakfast.
£20 charge extra for very small dog.
Very uneven floors especially in bathroom and although expected for such an old building at a certain age needed to be very careful.
If you like an early night you've no chance as alot of noise from pub downstairs till 11pm.
Keep windows closed as very noisey road outside too.

The history of the building.
The staff all spoke another language through out our stay in the bar in the evening and breakfast in the morning that obviously wasn’t English, the breakfast was terrible for the cost and most bits was dry and budget ingredients.
