I was really not happy with the hotel staff and their management.

I really liked the hotel’s breakfast and cleanliness, especially the room.

Last week, I visited Aberystwyth for office work and stayed at Park Lodge Hotel for 5 days. On the first day, I checked in around 5 PM. I had already booked the hotel through Booking.com, and even though all my details were verified online, the staff asked me again to share my bank card details at check-in. I wasn’t sure why they needed it again, but I provided it. They assigned me Room 35 on the first floor. I went inside, kept my luggage, took a shower, and went out for a while. When I returned and tried to open the room, my smart card didn’t work. I went back to the reception and informed them. They told me my room was actually Room 32. I explained that Room 35 had been assigned to me and that my luggage was already inside, but they didn’t believe me at first. After a long discussion, they finally came with the master key, opened Room 35, and found my luggage inside. Then they asked me to move my belongings to Room 32. I asked why I needed to move when they were the ones who assigned Room 35, and it was clearly written on the paper. After some time, the manager asked me to wait. After a few hours, the manager returned and said that Room 35 was now assigned to me and I could stay there. I still don’t understand why all this happened, as I didn’t make any mistake. I ended up wasting three hours because of this misunderstanding. I was really not happy with the hotel staff and their management.

Comfortable and restful weekend.

Easy to find with good car park and EV charging if required. Ground floor for my mobility issues with a comfortable bed and easy access shower. Good food served by very pleasant staff.

A reasonable hotel on the outskirts on town. It has the advantage of plentiful parking

The room was pleasant enough, nice and warm for early November. it had a nicely appointed bathroom, including a good power shower. Though oddly, the shower unit had no shelf on which to place my own wash things.

We were a little worried as it was a hot day, so we had windows open and there as a loud noise coming from big fan outside our room (which was coming from the restaurant). I called reception who said that the noise would stop at 9pm and unlikely to return next day. They tackled the query really well and the noise did in fact stop at 9pm, which was fine for us. When the windows were closed, the noise was fine.

The only thing I would comment is the restaurant were very very unaware of food allergies. We didn’t book on for breakfast or dinner when booking but decided to have breakfast on the day of check out. I’m coeliac so my partner went up to ask for the allergies list, they didn’t have one, I then went up to speak to staff to ask what I could have and the member of staff (who was lovely - no criticism of her) explained that I could have everything with V next to it. I explained that this was for vegetarian diets and that I’d be very unwell if I ate wheat. I eventually ordered just bacon and eggs with nothing else which came out with toast on the plate. Like I said the member of staff was lovely and took it back to make a fresh plate for me but just something to be aware of if eating here with food allergies.

We liked the general ambience of the hotel and the room was clean and welcoming.

We were very surprised that a hotel of a relatively young age did not have a proper lift. There was a lift primarily for wheelchair use, which we used to transport our luggage up and down from our room, but it was very slow and cumbersome.

Great parking - also near the shops . Only short walk to the sea front. Quiet hotel and didn’t see any dogs which was great . Staff were wonderful .

EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD

Excellent location, plenty of parking space, checking in was smooth, room was spacious, clean and bright. Breakfast excellent, extensive cold buffet, and hot food cooked and served to order. The restaurant was exceptional, both for snacks and evening meal, there were as many locals dining as guests, which says a lot about the quality and value for money of the meals. In all an exceptionally pleasant stay and without doubt the best hotel experience in the UK for a long time.
