Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa

Lovely staff and brilliant spacious room. Great location and facilities

The accessibility to the city centre and the views from the hotel of the water. It was my birthday and so received a complimentary drink, which was nice.

Our room had a slight damp, musty smell. The events room noise filtered up to our room, which made it hard to sleep.

It was friendly, had the facilities I wanted.

No comment. All was good.

Booked this for a birthday - the 'balloons & decorations' I pre booked turned out to be a tatty, creased foil strip on the head board with a rip. Birthday person didn't even notice it on entry & I quickly removed it as it was embarrassingly cheap. Partner went down to the spa then I followed to join but was told I had to go on a wait list as children were in the pool. So we couldn't enjoy the spa together. On arrival, we went to the bar but took forever to get two drinks - when I got up to cancel the order, I got my drinks. Bits on the seating in the bar & long black hair on floor near seat. At breakfast, staff seem determined to bunch people together - why can't people choose where they'd like to sit as long as they choose a table that's the right size for guest number. Machine coffee at breakfast not good Only four small milk pots in room - enough for one cup tea each. Didn't want to get dressed at 6am to get more from reception I really enjoyed my previous visit to this hotel but wish I hadn't booked it for this birthday. It was going to be my go to hotel for quick breaks but I was disappointed this visit. Hope it's not falling prey to the general trend of rising prices whilst standards, service & competence decline
