Great stay in Dundee but not sure it was the best value for money

Good location for our plans

Don’t like that parking isn’t included with stay. Paying another £28 above £240 for 2 nights was a bit much. To also have the fire alarm going off twice in the early hours of Saturday morning meant our day was ruined, as we were both exhausted by mid afternoon. Breakfast was also very cold on Saturday morning, and a long wait for fresh hot items on Sunday.

Dissapointed.

Liked being central to town. Room was lovely clean.

Some of the staff seemed nice, But booked an extra nite as i have been struggling with health they wanted an extra deposit which i shouldent have had to complain about as i dident have it it added to ny anxiety put a damper on my stay. I did manage to get it sorted in end afger making a complaint to booking.com to which i shouldent have had to do. And even after what i experinced never got an appology from any member of staff and had to pay 50p as they missed this out of the payments which i felt was pretty poor considering the stress and not sleeping due to not being told about any of this until i made my 2nd payment. I did manage to get it sorted in the end but felt as though i was treated unfairly.and shouldent have had to complain and go through that when this waa meant to have been a relaxing stay. I also think the portions of food are not value for money for what you get and the price you pay. The first meal i got was stone cold. Amd therefore dident enjoy it as had to re heat.

Pictures didn't match the room my mother got, vertical steel beam right in front of the toilet

The breakfast had good variety and the room was fairly clean.

Where to start... The fire alarm went off within an hour of arrival and the staff just continued to check people in at reception whilst I stood outside for 10 minutes wondering what was going on. Someone eventually told us that it was nothing to worry about. The room which we stayed in was comfortable enough but there wasn't much in the way of tea and coffee making supplies. There were also structural steel columns going through the room. In the room my mother stayed in, there were two structural steel columns, one right in front of the toilet - a safety issue for anyone getting up to the toilet through the night. The air conditioning, heating and bathroom fan all appeared to be non-functional, as the temperature of the room didn't change when adjusted on the thermostat and the bathroom walls got covered in condensation when going for a shower. The damp in the bathroom has caused the silicon to start going black, so could do with replacing and there were marks over the walls so could do with a lick of paint. Before going out for dinner at 6:30pm on the first night, I made staff aware that there were bags of rubbish in the hall from other guests, namely Indian takeaway boxes that made the whole hallway smell of grease. The same takeaway boxes were still sat in the hallway upon returning to the hotel at around 10pm. Although I understand this is a result of guests being lazy, I was disappointed that the issue wasn't taken care of sooner. In conclusion, I wouldn't return and would rather spend that little bit extra and go to the Hilton.

Lovely accommodation which made a visit to Dundee pleasant indeed

Heated mirror, cheerful Saturday morning breakfast worker, she was lively and super helpful. Clean decent suites. They are happy for you to make pack up sandwich from breakfast for later eg sausage sandwich. They cooked us vegan sausages to order too.

Pillows bit hard and duvet material not the best. Generally happy overall though

Went for breakfast at 10 and there was no hot food left apart from beans. Breakfast was supposed to go onto 10.30, and when we asked at 10, I was told no more hot food going out.

Stunning Suite

My suite was immaculately clean, quiet and spacious. All staff that I've encountered have excellent hospitality skills. I always feel very welcome. I've booked Staybridge Suites many times. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Dundee!

We stayed in a comfortable studio apartment at this hotel, conveniently located in the heart of Dundee. While the reception staff came across as unwelcoming—leaving us with the impression that we were inconveniencing them—the restaurant staff provided a very different experience, being consistently kind, attentive, and helpful.

To hot to be stay

Location is perfect

Unfortunately, we found the room to be uncomfortably hot during the night, and even with the air fan, it was difficult to cool the room to a comfortable temperature. At breakfast, while the variety was appreciated, the quality could be improved. The bacon was overcooked, and the sausages were so dry that they were almost inedible.

A place to wash dress and sleep within easy walking distance to city centre attractions.

Breakfast was ok good quality bread and bacon. Some hot foods very over cooked example hash Brown's were inedible.

The room was like a hothouse, the air conditioner lowest was 18 and ineffectual. Duvet /bed linen not smooth or ironed.

Destination accommodation in a interestingly converted Jute Mill.

Third time staying here (twice in Staybridge suites, once Hotel Indigo), so that probably says it all!! Fantastically friendly and helpful staff. We arrived on bikes, which were safely stored away for us. The building is an old Jute Mill, tastefully modernised and turned into very comfortable accommodation. It's only a short walk to the centre of town if you know the way (ask where the path to the pedestrian underpass is), but everything you might need is on-site anyway. We made use of the complimentary laundery facilities this time to wash our cycling clothing, which was really handy. The included breakfast buffet has a great selection and the communal bar / lounge / reception areas are a great place to have a relaxing drink.

As a number of reviews have mentioned, there's not much parking. That obviously wasn't an issue for us on this occasion as we were on touring bikes, and it's just the nature of the historic Jute Mill building that has been turned into this great hotel. However, we have driven in the past and simply used the pay car park that is a stone's throw away (and we weren't charged to leave the car there overnight the occasion we used it).

Enjoyed our stay, breakfast and lunch we ordered were both good.

On arrival my wife and I were on limited time as had to be another pre arranged destination, we had hoped to have a drink in the pleasant surroundings of the bar area but nobody was behind the bar, waited for an age , then had to wait on front staff to find the bar staff after they served customers checking in. Bar person was pleasant when he eventually showed up, think he was away doing other tasks but it was poor not to have someone looking after the bar as potential customers arrive.

The breakfast was excellent - a really good choice of delicious food. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and well-equipped. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.

Parking was a bit pricey and challenging as the hotel carpark is too small for the number of guests.

Nice hotel, few disappointments but still lovely

The building is beautiful, the whole hotel and apartment suite were extremely clean and the staff were pleasant. The bed was amazingly comfortable, for someone who doesn't sleep well usually, I slept great! The apartment suite was very quiet and peaceful, and the hotel itself isn't far from the city centre.

I did not like that the hotel policy when you arrive, even after you have already paid, is that they demand a £50 tab that you put on your card, they say that it's for you to use at the bar/shop/room service etc, and even though we said we would rather pay individually for anything we bought, and that it was unlikely we would actually buy anything as neither of us drink and we had booked to go to dinner with our daughter, they still insisted we pay this £50 with our card and if we didn't use it, then it would be refunded to us afterwards. I wasn't aware of this policy at all before our stay, and it's just lucky that I actually had £50 in the bank to do so, but we shouldn't have been made to do so I feel. I actually haven't checked today to see if the money has been returned, I'll do that and update this review if I can. The apartment suite was a lot smaller than the pictures that were on the booking.com page, but it was still nice, just expected bigger and fancier than how it actually looks compared to the pictures. For the price for one night, I think I expected more luxury. I did have to shut the bathroom door during the night as the toilet cistern kept drip drip dripping loudly. Breakfast in the morning was not too great, not the best quality, overcooked and not as many options as we'd thought for the high price. It's still a lovely place to stay, just price wise, it was expensive for just one night.
