Nice comfy bed.
A very noisy fan underneath our room from early morning and onwards.
Also the property is looking a bit tatty.

I liked the history of the place and some of the artefacts on display. The main hall was especially attractive … It was v quiet and it was a quiet bedroom.
The room we had was tired , although v clean, and the pillows were not comfortable. The shower was somewhat erratic!

The whole look of the place was excellent, staff were friendly and food was good including the breakfast altho we were only offered one cup of coffee & tea.
We stayed in the King Edward Suite. There were loads of ladybugs flying about in the room and few dead ones on the window sill.
The shower in the bathroom was falling to bits as well as the blinds.
Two doors in the room did not close full on at all.

The historical context was attractive. Room was okay but am pretty sure we were staying in the old servants’ quarters, which was fine.
Shower very difficult to operate. Plus the stream was weak and leaked.

The room was a good size.
The bed and pillows were comfortable.
The shower unit was very small.
Ladybirds seemed to like our room a lot but we understood this was due, in part, to the location.

Staff very good.
Room quite small. So cold in room and shower tepid until heating came on. Given the time of year would habe thought heating should have been on longer. Breakfast poor quality food on full english think chef could do better as both the poached eggs and soft boiled eggs were hard.

Ensuite was freezing

Location was good, but I chose that
1. They shut the bar at 9:58pm with no warning. They could have at least asked the two people on the bar (I had a friend come to visit) if they wanted any more drinks!
2. I didn't appreciate being woken up at 7:45 by kids in the next room running around and constantly banging. From what I can tell there were only two guests that night. Why on earth did they put a family with children next to a solo traveller.
3. The window has a freezing draft coming in making the room very, very cold. The tiny radiator could not heat the room (10)

Big, very comfortable bed. Big, warm room. Quiet. Wi-fi good. Character.
Bestwood is a big, old building, - with 'character' come the challenges of being hard to heat, hard to light to make it feel 'comfortable' - the dining area in particular felt chilly (not so much cold, but brightly - harshly - lit).

Extremely warm welcome and easy check in at reception.
Amazing large room with 4 poster bed and a large bath with shower over.
Amazing staff went out of way to prepare room service food for a late arrival . Can't fault that for exceptional service! Thanks guys
A private function downstairs made it difficult to relax in the bar due to the loud noise and presentations.

A beautiful building and a lovely sized room , dinner was excellent and the fact that the Restaurant serves until quite late suited me perfectly.

Interesting historic accommodation
Really helpful staff
Good breakfast and bar food

Lovely old house in a great setting
The bedrooms are very tired looking with bad paintwork and lifting wall paper. The bedside light didn’t work and the room was down a rabbit written of corridors. The breakfast was fine except that it seems no hotel can cook scrambled eggs properly!

The location was nice
The rooms were dated, room was cold, shower did not work

The hotel looked beautiful (historic building) and the location was lovely. We appreciated the free parking. The staff member who checked us in was very helpful.
Apart from the initial staff member, the remainder of the staff was slow to respond to requests (such as extra blankets). When packing up, we found a filthy towel (not ours) underneath the pull-out bed. Given the proximity to so many local breweries and distilleries (many of which were present at the Nottingham Castle Christmas Market), the bar selection was lacking any character. Additionally we requested a quiet room and received the exact opposite of that - there was what I presume was a holiday office party that ran past the scheduled time and we were directly above the party music.

Dated building that requires some improvements - stay was fine but did wake up to a cold room

Location and the history of the building
May be a bigger bathroom we stopped in room 17 and I’m 6 foot 3 and it was very small toilet

There was a lovely warm fire in the bar area.
Dirty, bathroom and room was freezing cold, the breakfast was inedible, stale cornflakes, salty sausages, terrible scrambled eggs and squeaky mushrooms.

The accommodation at Westwood was lovely. It was a beautiful hotel and was clean and comfortable. Staff were accommodating and polite. It is in a beautiful location and I would go back.

Character hotel. Room basic but clean. Staff attentive and helpful
There was a two day Halloween event which meant car parking was confusing. Would have been helpful to have had advanced warning.

staff were lovely. Building and setting was excellent.
The only thing was that the room decor was a little tired and a bit cold! No radiator in the bathroom or heated towel rail to warm it up made it a cold prospect and it wasn't even cold. For the money, all good, I'm just feeding back.

Beautiful building etched in history set in a secluded country park North of Nottingham city.
The decor and design is of an era set back in time. Room was a little tired however it was pleasant enough for the purpose it serves.
Nothing !!

The hotel is beautiful, i was staying for a work event and didn't bother to request a service of the room as I'd be in and out all day but after the event I noticed the beds had been made and fresh towels delivered which was a nice surprise but more surprisingly I'd left my work mobile phones laying out, airpods and a variety of diamond and pearl jewellery, nothing was stolen, the staff are either really well paid or very honest people or both which is nice.
The curtains are very good, I hadn't realised I'd left a window open overnight, for it being October, not a single draft of cold air made it through those curtains, nor a glimmer of daylight.
I had lost a gold earring during my event but it had been handed in to reception and kept safe until I enquired if it had been found in the morning. I'm in awe at the sheer honesty of this hotel staff.
The staff were very helpful and informative, the chef is a wonderful cook and the hotel manager is very friendly. I couldn't fault the service if I tried.
Booked a twin room as was staying with a work colleague, the beds were very close together but the headboards appeared to be attached to the wall so couldn't move them a comfortable distance.
The pillows were too soft for my preference but I was only staying 2 nights so didn't ask if there were firmer ones available.

Check was friendly, quick and easy, especially as was a late booking and we arrived at 10.30pm Room was excellent for the money
Car Park. Dark and unorganised. Hard to find decent allocated spaces and maneuver into one for a van.

Location to where we were going.
Staff availability despite Ferring there early hours.
Heating - heaters supplied
Intercom - not working had to go to the front desk
Late check out - being harassed to leave despite offering to pay. Someone opened the door whilst still in the room

Lovely old world lodge , staff amazing
4.0 / 10.0
The staff were as helpful as they could be and provided anything we requested. it is a potentially beautiful property
the building is very tired and needs substantial structural improvement and maintenance. The garden was not maintained - the maze was shockingly poor and the windows were badly maintained - very poor workmanship - the furniture in the room was also battered and tired. The hotel needs renovating and updating

The staff were very friendly and helpful, we only stayed the one night but will definitely be back for a longer stay.
The shower was a bit temperamental, very hot then very cold but it didn't put us off visiting again.

Very nice old hotel, a lot of stairs to our room could be hard for elderly people
Breakfast was ok
But overall a good experience

Impressive building with a lot of character, surrounded by lovely woodland walks. Spacious room, bed very comfortable, modern bathroom with efficient walk-in shower. Evening meal and breakfast were excellent.
No lift! No staff in the bar serving drinks after dinner - presumably all busy at the large wedding in the ballroom?

Our room was clean and comfortable. All staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed our pre-booked evening meal with our party ordering chicken, steak and duck respectively. We enjoyed Eton Mess afterwards. We pre-booked breakfast at £10 per person, otherwise it would have been £11.99. There was a good choice of cereal, fruit, yogurt, croissants and a hot breakfast - self service.
I had indicated a bedroom on the ground floor would be appreciated via Booking.com as my husband has difficulty with steps but was advised that rooms for disabled people had been taken. He did manage the many steps within the hotel. A handrail would be very helpful near the steps leading to the seats/outdoor table area.
A pot of tea or coffee is always preferable to a range of tea bags, sachets etc.... fine for within the bedroom, but not the restaurant (breakfast).

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Nice bar and food.
No lift and mobilty issues for my partner made the stairs difficult.

I booked 3 rooms for family who were staying for a wedding. The stay exceeded my expectations. The Hotel was spacious, set in beautiful grounds and the rooms were all large and clean. The staff were exceptional from the staff serving canapes and food at the wedding to the reception and breakfast staff and even the cleaner we had friendly efficient and flexible service and they couldnt have been more helpful. Great breakfast and lovely spacious breakfast room.
I was in the Nell Gwyn room which had a spacious modern bathroom. The other two rooms had more dated bathrooms
I guess the bathrooms are being updated and it will be great when they are all done.
