The check-in process was very smooth and straightforward, which made for a positive start to my stay. The room itself was slightly dated and a little dusty, but suitable for a one-night stay. The bathroom, although compact, was nicely presented.
The room also included a small kitchenette with a sink, microwave, kettle, tea and coffee, mini fridge, and cutlery, which would be useful for anyone wanting to prepare simple meals.
The room door was tricky to lock from the inside, which didn’t make me feel super safe as a solo-traveller. When I first entered the room, I noticed a fast ticking sound which I eventually traced to the safe (which was locked). I covered it with two pillows to muffle the noise, and after that it was quiet.
The WiFi connected easily at first but became patchy after about 30 minutes. There was some noise from other rooms, though it wasn’t overwhelmingly loud.

Location
Dared and worn, staff are rude and non empathetic, lift doesn’t work, tv didnt work, kettle didn’t work, no hot water, shower no hot water, heating full on and no way to turn down, balcony door locked and no key

A bit tatty could do with modernising

It was close to the centre and the bed was quite comfortable.
First thing I found when I got it to the room was a cockroach! The staff weren’t very helpful, the carpet was filthy and the electrics were dodgy.

Location
The bed was in upper deck no room to the ceiling and the stairs was squeaky and noisy, one could hear noise from other rooms, no sleep all night as it was noisy. There was bagging of doors and the bathroom was too small. Heating was too hot and nowhere to register it. Fan was not working and could not be used.

Was local and very clean staff where wonderful very pleasant
I can’t say there was anything if I am honest the stairs coming down from the first floor was extremely cold as it was concrete stairs and the lift button for the ground floor was missing

Not a lot.
Checking in £50 was taken out of my bank account because I was told later that the girl on reception must have thought that I was a "High risk visitor". I'm a 62 year old solo traveling businessman. This embarrassing episode has never happened to me before at this hotel although I have visited several times before and as recently as last month.
Tried to return the kettle to reception because it looked as if somebody had tried to walm soup up in it, see photo, disgusting that the cleaner didn't pick this up. Nobody at the "24 hour" reception and kettle wasn't replaced until the morning of departure.

Cheap and cheerful town centre accommodation, great location. Nice balcony room.
Didn't seem very organised at check in-waited a while behind a few other groups and receptionist seemed a bit confused.

the room we were in was nice for the price.
the look of the hotel from the outside we thought we were in the wrong place as it looked abandoned. the stairs up the the other floors have smashed windows and an awful smell. the room we were in had a ripped curtain and stains on the wall and headboard.

Not much really.
The bed was very comfy and clean and the bathroom facilities were adequate.
The double glazing was very draughty which didn't help as the bed was next to the window.
There was a safe deposit box to store valuables but wasn't bolted down so in effect it wasn't safe at all.
No draw space for clothes and there was no continental breakfast even though we paid for it.
the English breakfast was the worst I've ever tasted and wasn't value for money at £10.99 a pop,
Needless to say on Sunday morning we went down the road to the Gooseberry Bush for breakfast which was cheaper and far superior.

A big plus microwave and fridge in room. Excellent
Car parking extra £10 per day

The hotel had a nice design and was generally very quiet.
Rooms were well decorated and a good size.
Windows were left wide open on one of the coldest days of the year so the room was absolutely freezing when we entered. The windows didn't fully lock so there was a draught coming through the windows, then to make matters worse the heating wasn't working, very cold sleep.
Not advised during colder months

Comfy bed
Bed was stained with blood. It was noisy during the night. The breakfast was nothing special, including that the coffee was instant, and the milk tasted like it was off. Overall not the best experience.
Also, nowhere to park

Great price which was worth it but note that I got a good rate because it was a Sunday
They blamed Booking.com for this. I was made to pay a £50 retainer, which was a massive shock in case of any damage. Now I wouldn't have had so much of a problem with this, if I had known this before going. I recommend what I did. As soon as I got in the room, I videoed the whole room and did the same before I left as well. I haven't checked yet if money was taken out of my account but that's why I did 2 videos, just in case.

The property was located really close to shops bars and food places. I had a balcony room, it was cosy and comfortable and well laid out and had everything we needed. The views from the balcony were really nice. The staff was lovely and accommodating and was extremely fast in dealing with anything we needed or the extras we requested. The manager is a nice but really funny guy! Breakfast was nice also!
Everything was great!

We stayed in one of the 2-bed suites with a balcony. The view was great, and we loved the old building with the stone staircases. Plenty of character. Good location for the city center, about a 20 minute walk away.
Parking is a pain. On a Saturday there was no parking in the streets nearby, and parking at the back of the hotel was £10 extra and very tight.
The TV in our room didn't work. The room, although well designed was a little cramped. Instead of the 4 chairs in the alcove, something like a corner sofa would have been much better.

Our dwelling for our stay at this property was very spacious, close walk to the Castle and great views of sunset and moon settling in the morning.
Our hosts met all our needs and the car park was very much appreciated. Thank you for attending to weary travellers with kindness and an early check in, too.

Availability and location. Good size rooms and clean decor. Good to have a small kitchen area and fridge.
Warm so needed a fan through the night. One of the rooms had cracked bathroom floor tiles, it is a very old building and the floorboards move underneath them.

The hotel was surrounded by students accommodation blocks so it was in a quiet location , parking was available on the street (free)or within the hotel grounds for extra 10pounds. The hotel buildings was part of Victorian lace factory hence some of the area is smaller than usual such as the reception area and the hall , but the room was a good Size and modern with high ceilings, it even included a small kitchen with microwave and tea making facilities which was a nice touch .The shops were within 5-10 minutes for essentials items . Good location and it felt safe .
The hotel also provided full English or continental breakfast which refillable coffee and tea included in the price which was a nice touch , for customers there was a discount rate which was useful which saved us rush out to look for place to eat . The breakfast was well done and the breakfast room was spacious and clean .
