Really lovely building with some very nice decor and some quirky features like a shoe coat hangers

Had to ask for someone to serve at the bar and was particularly busy in the car park on arrival due to a conference or function but that was resolved by 5pm

Decent room with poor bathroom set-up.

The room was clean and tidy, with well-equipped facilities. The environment was absolutely quiet, very suitable for a short break from the city. The staff were OK and I felt welcomed in the hotel. Comfy bed as well.

The bathroom/toilet was an absolute disaster. The ventilation wasn't working at all and the window was completely LOCKED. As a result, every time I took a shower, it literally felt like bathing in the Amazon jungle. Everything was moist and wet – the floor, the wall, the mirror, the toilet roll... absolutely disastrous. Avoid room 314 if possible, since you literally have to climb up the stairs with your luggage.

we were a bit cold, but the staff delivered an extra heater when we raised it. Also only had decaf capsules for our coffee machine. would have liked regular coffee

3 night stay.

Location lovely, in a nice village but easy walk to the bus stop with regular buses into Oxford city centre. Large room that was located in a separate building to the main hotel. Warm and quiet. Staff at breakfast were really friendly.

Spacious room. Lots of mirrors. Comfortable beds. Good location for music venue. Easy parking.

The fridge in the room was disappointing as it wasn’t cold at all so couldn’t use for drinks. Service at breakfast needed attention. Staff needed reminders to bring food. No option to sign in to Netflix on the tv.

Warm greeting, freezing room!

Great location. Nice staff. Very comfortable beds.

The room in the annex was extremely cold. There did not seem to be central heating and you had to rely on a wall-mounted heater and an extra small electric heater. I did not feel I could leave these on during the day so the room was very cold at night. Don't stay in the hotel annex

Very dog friendly and great room given

The location was fantastic, the hotel very clean, all staff were very friendly, rooms large and very dog friendly. We usually get a rubbish room when we take the dog but not here. Room was lovely. Car park was a huge bonus and not far away from the park and ride. Oxford has a congestion charge of over £5.

Great location for us. Warm and welcoming, big bar area with comfortable seating Comfy bed in a regular room, nice shower over bath. Staff always smiling and chatty etc.

Only negative was that the bar area was not very warm, it was 6 degrees outside so a cold ld weekend but expected it to be warmer inside

Christmas stay

This was our 3rd time at hawkwell house 🏠 we decided to spend christmas there this year,all staff were so friendly and couldn't be more help,the christmas lunch was lovely and plenty of it. Breakfast was good as usual and lots of choice 😋 would highly recommend this place 👌 we will be back 😀 😊

Nothing to dislike,only thing but it is a personal choice,sprouts could of been cooked a wee bit longer as were a bit hard but complement to the chef 👨‍🍳 😉

Cosy Christmas stay.

Comfy beds, great breakfast. Welcome gift of fudge was nice touch. Hotel was themed around Oxford clothing (brogues, shirts etc), which was unique and interesting. Roaring fire and big Xmas tree in lobby - nice and cosy!

Rooms smelt like disinfectant. Room benefited from skylight, but no window.

Lovely stay

Booked 2 rooms through booking.com, the hotel were not made aware that the bookings were together. Once the people on receiption realised we were together, they re-located us, so we were closer. Very friendly staff.

The staff were accommodating and the food was pretty good. I stay away a lot and was happy with the breakfast. My room was also spacious and secluded.

My room was cold on entry as it was external. That said the staff showed me exactly how to use the temperature control and additional plug in radiators. From then on it was cosy.

Great base from which to explore Oxford.

Walkable distance from Oxford City centre, and able to park the car at the hotel for our entire stay, at no extra charge. Room and bed were very comfortable. Staff, particularly at breakfast and on reception, were very helpful and friendly.

One or two minor issues regarding cleanliness, but they were very promptly dealt with.

The mattress was super comfortable. Breakfast was really good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The quilt was too hot and the pillows too thick. So although the mattress was super lovely, it was difficult to sleep.
