The location was a 5 minute walk into the centre of Oxford.
The rooms,staff,breakfast we're all fantastic.
Only thing was no parking there but only took 10 minutes from the park and ride.
The staff and breakfast we're fantastic the room was lovely and clean,no negatives apart from parking 😋

Location was excellent and staff were so helpful. Great breakfast too and really good evening meal.
Very minor - couldn’t open the window so room was abit stuffy. Could do with hooks for wet coats etc but honestly these are such minor points. We loved it!

Great location for both sightseeing and park and ride. Clean and comfortable room with a great pub and food downstairs
Nothing not to like

A lovely small hotel by the river with all comfortable bar that serves delicious pub food. The room was spotless and comfortable with a great shower. The riverside location is just gorgeous. However, best of all the staff are so nice, kind and so attentive and professional. A great place to stay in a town that can be very expensive. Loved it and will be back
Can’t fault it

The room was amazing, newly renovated, with a kettle and nespresso machine. Beautiful river view. The staff was so kind and helpful. The breakfast was incredible! The pub downstairs is amazing, too.
The only thing I disliked was the carpeted floors in the bedroom. There were a couple of stains on it. However, the cleaning staff did an excellent job. Perhaps it needs to be professionally cleaned.

Hotel is perfect location for Oxford. 10 minute walk to the centre. Staff were super friendly and breakfast was always a treat. I would definitely look into going to Head of the River again!
No parking at the hotel. However, there is a park and ride south of the hotel which is only 10 minute bus ride away. £12.90 covers 3 days leaving the car at the car park.

The customer service and friendliness of the staff was commendable, great communication. The included breakfast was excellent. We loved watching the boats and swans on the river. The bedroom was comfortable, it was nice to have a family room available with bunkbeds. The bathroom was clean and had a great shower. Finally, the in-room breakfast bar with tea/coffee was well stocked.
The parking situation was expensive and inconvenient. The closest parking garage was in a shopping mall a 10 minute walk away and cost 38 pounds a night. The other option was public park parking lot - unfortunately you needed an app in order to pay, the app had to send a code to your phone to download which did not work with our international plan. Either way the parking was terrible.

On several occasions the staff helped with directions around the city. Printing off boarding passes. Help with our dog at mealtimes.

Location was perfect, the room was quiet despite being above a very busy bar. Perfect for dropping into a busy bar if you feel like it whilst having the option to chill in a room with a view
It’d be hard to find something to dislike, a preference for more storage if I was staying for a longer period. But nothing to actively dislike

The staff were very welcoming. The room was large and nicely appointed, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is in a lovely setting by the river which we would have appreciated more in better weather.
The heating is solely through the air conditioning system, which was very noisy and made the air very dry.

Let’s start with the pros! Upon arriving (in a brilliant location) we were welcomed by a lovely receptionist that offered to store our bags as we arrived before our check in time. Once inside the room, it was clean and the toiletries offered were of a high standard. The tea and coffee making facilities were great with the nice touch of fresh milk in the mini fridge. They granted my request for a bath which was lovely. Breakfast was amazing - high quality produce and excellent portion.
The room we were in felt quite underwhelming compared to the images we had seen online. Our room (15) was situated in an out building on the ground floor at the top of the beer garden of the pub. This meant that from one window, we had a view of a roundabout and the other a beer garden. It has to be noted, sound wasn’t an issue - they have soundproofed the room well so credit is due there. However, to ensure privacy there were two very large shutters which made the entire room feel very dark. On this note, lighting throughout was poor - the bathroom was very dingy. There is a chance we got this room because I requested a bath - but it perhaps should have been made clear that the room would feel like a downgrade.
The bed (and room) was unfortunately quite small.
Iron did not work.
It’s not a bad place but certainly not worth the price we paid - did not feel upmarket enough to warrant such a high price point.

Location was great, All the staff we met were excellent, gave great customer service and were happy. Was great to experience that, and they were all a credit to the company. Thank you
Room and bathroom were quite small, but would expect this given the age of the property and conversion.

Nice people running it very friendly. Nice and quiet. Breakfast was excellent!
Just felt I’d paid slightly too much for a small room, although it was nice. Also, I couldn’t get food in the restaurant there or room service on the night I stayed owing to private parties. Which given the room rate I would have hoped to be able to get served. I was very tired from travelling and ended up downloading just eat and ordering a junk food delivery which could have been avoided.

Perfect pub accommodation- staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was amazing 🤩
Excellent location
Thank you
Room was cozy (as described) and warm however there was a draught coming through the window - had to wedge the blind to stop it moving.

Great location for the court, friendly staff and nice room (Room 15). Good price.
Oxford is anti-car so you have to walk from a distant car park to get to the hotel. Room 15 is nice, but the wifi in that room is poor.

Great place, handy for city, good food and dog friendly.
We stayed in a room upstairs positioned on the corner of the property facing both the bridge and river, as a result we were aware of the traffic noise. However, this hotel is handy for walking around the city and handy for the park and ride car park.

The room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern. The breakfast was exceptional, with a selection of fruit, cereal, pastries, tea/coffee available, along with a cooked to order hot breakfast which amazing.

The room was described as “cosy” so I feared it would be miniature - but it was exactly as described, and looked like the photos. Absolutely sweet. The building had an interesting history and lots of character. Lovely vibrant place. They are so welcoming to dogs, with a bed, water bowl and treats set out for our little spaniel on arrival. For us - a very good shower and proper coffee machine and comfortable thoughtfully decorated room. Despite being a busy pub and restaurant it was quiet at night and we slept well. Lovely walk through Christchurch meadows starts a few metres behind the hotel, and from the front door it’s a few minutes walk into the heart of Oxford.
We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Breakfast was fine. Dinner - atmosphere lovely and staff helpful, but food was hit and miss.

I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels in the last 6 months and rarely leave reviews and I should. This place was homey. It felt family run rather than a chain. It may well be family run and it shows. The dining room was cosy. The food was just outstanding. We requested a red wine suggestion and both times the wine did not disappoint. The room was cosy. The shower had plenty of hot water and powerful. It was in a great location and the staff were very pleasant.
The only negative is the entrance. That’s only because whilst leaving we bumped into a staff member not realising they were there.

A good choice for a short stay in Oxford.
Everything in working order and clean and a good choice of food and drinks.
Very good breakfast choices for all tastes.
A wonderful location for expierencing Oxford, a short walk into the city and attractions, shops etc. and wonderful views of the river.
The location is exceeded only by the excellent customer service provided by the staff.
Recommended
Guest bedroom room a little.cramped, the ground floor room windows are at public eye level.
Bathroom lighting a little dim.
Take note, the hotel is a public Inn, hotel patrons share the bar area with the public.
Some guests commented on the bar music choices. The bar room music may not be to everyone's choice, but we think, remember it is a pub.
The breakfast dining area (7am to 10am) is part of the bar area, and the sound of bar preparations for drink stocking and ale pipes cleaning may be intrusive over breakfast.
Minor observations.
No big deals.

The room was large, very comfortable and nicely decorated, and had coffee/tea making facilities, as well as a stocked fridge with drinks (at a cost).
Nice products in the bathroom, great shower with good water pressure and hot water.
The restaurant has a great menu, lots of variety on offer and with good quality food offered, and great service, especially at dinner, it was a great place to eat.
All the staff were very friendly, and went above and beyond to be helpful and kind.
Perfect location, only about a 8 minute walk into the 'centre' of Oxford.
My bed wasn't very comfortable, but likely because it was quite a soft bed and I like medium to hard mattresses.

We figured that most of the personnel were students - great variety of people and nationalities; we loved it! Dinner and breakfast were nice but not superb (for the price). The same for the room - great and spacious, superb beds, they were lovely for our dog - but we found the price extreme. Especially since the room was situated above the kitchen, which was quite noisy. The surroundings was amazing, nice walking, of course in an amazing town. Since we were driving our car, this one had to park 10 minutes walking in a parking garage (underneath a big shopping mall)
