Great place to stay when visiting Westonbirt

The Hotel is beautiful, so warm and welcoming with lots of cosy areas to sit and relax. The restaurant is a lovely room with a great atmosphere, the food was delicious, venison was perfectly cooked.

Great location, lovely staff, great service. Enjoyed two very good meals, ideally situated for exploring Westonbirt

Older room with a large radiator stuck on full heat, windows only open a crack and stiflingly hot in the bedroom. Poor sleep as a consequence. Reported to reception several times over the weekend but maintenance unable to help. Would advise requesting a newer room if booking a return trip

Beautiful building inside and out. Staff were very helpful and our room was spacious.

Can’t walk to Tetbury along main road because too busy with traffic and speed and no pavement to walk on. So either have to drive or get a cab which was an issue.

The whole experience was exceptionally good, lovely room, very good food, friendly, helpful staff and the hotel location is perfect, a few minutes from Highgrove, Westonbirt House and Arboretum.

Great hotel for visiting Highgrove and the Arboretum

Very helpful and friendly staff. We enjoyed a delicious meal in the dining room in the evening. We particularly appreciated the fresh milk left on the tea tray in our room and Molten Brown toiletries in the bathroom. The hotel is perfectly placed for visiting Highgrove and the Arboretum.

The porridge served to my wife at breakfast was not good. It was made from cheap instant oats, was tasteless with a consistency of concrete! Avoid at all costs.

We were looked after exceedingly well.

All the staff were fabulous and friendly. Even small requests for things like extra milk in the room was provided generously. The room (pine-51) was spacious, had a mini fridge (useful to keep milk cool) and had a terrace out the back for when the weather is good. The bed was super comfy with a large warm duvet. Although we didn't use them, we noted that blackout blinds were fitted in addition to the main curtains. The bathroom was provided with plush towels and quality cosmetics. Easy to use shower. TV and wi-fi worked perfectly during our stay. The breakfast room is large, really nice period setting and comfortable. I'm one for the full English, this is really done well. I know it's not much, but the coffee comes with warm milk and this is rare and much appreciated. There is an outer sitting room next to the breakfast room and newspapers are provided. It was nice to just sit and read a paper after breakfast (a rarity as we stopped buying newspapers years ago). We booked a meal in the bar area on the first night and enjoyed the experience. For anyone visiting Highgrove this is the perfect location. Finally, we would like to thank every member of staff who made our stay outstanding, including all those hidden in the background that we didn't meet but made a difference like the room cleaner and the kitchen staff.

We throughly enjoyed our stay, the hotel is well placed for visiting key areas.

The main hotel building was full of charm & character, the food both in the pub area & the dining room was excellent as was the breakfasts. Our superior room was not in the main hotel building but it was spacious & comfortable.

Our only criticism would be the en-suite bathroom which was very tired & needed attention; There was a broken tile in the shower, a fine crack in the basin & it generally needed redecorating. On arrival we noticed the shower door was off its runner but the hotel staff responded quickly to repair it.

Very loud music till midnight

I came to this countryside hotel to sleep well and relax. Instead, from 9 p.m. until midnight there was a wedding taking place directly opposite our room. The music was so loud that it felt as if I were standing right on the dance floor. When I called reception after 11 p.m., I was told there was nothing they could do. I am absolutely outraged – in all my extensive travel experience, I have never come across a hotel treating its guests with such disregard. I strongly do not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for rest and peace.

Terrible shower screen over bath, not sealed at bottom properly resulting in water all over floor. I would rip out the baths & install walk in showers instead. I thought the menu in the main restaurant could have been better and I would have liked it to be completely different from the bar menu, but they were mainly the same with a few more choices. I think the main courses were quite highly priced for what they were, but having said that the food was good

The location was perfect for our visit to Highgrove and the Westonbirt Arboretum. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed our dinners and breakfasts. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Superior hotel, good food and excellent service.

Around 30 guests stayed at the hotel the night before and the night of our daughter's wedding (at Westonbirt House, which was absolutely stunning!). The Hare and Hounds put on a pre wedding dinner for 23 of us in the private dining room, the service was excellent and the food enjoyed by everyone. The hotel made sure we were well looked after as we prepared for the wedding and made a larger room available for us early for the bride to dress in. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a superior room in one for the annex buildings. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

There was a wedding being held at the hotel, we were not made aware and it meant a disco until midnight. Had we known we would have booked another hotel as it was meant to be a restful evening.
