Ardoe House Hotel & Spa

The 'privelege' bedroom was comfortable, warm and spacious. Food generally excellent and staff superb! The spa pool, sauna and steam room were very nice although not large. Grounds were pleasant for fresh air walks.

The spa pool area is contracted out to local users until approx 3:30pm so overcrowded for guests to use. One days bedroom service missed but no housekeeping staff available to clear, dealt with by Reception as best they could.

Excellent room which was spacious with a large comfortable bed. Avery good breakfast and evening meal. The choice was excellent.

We had to hunt for a parking space! I suppose that might be because the hotel has a spa but I'm not sure what we'd have done if we'd not been able to find one!

Location, size of room and breakfast !

Some small areas of our room could have done with a little tlc like the grouting in the shower area, or touch ups on the ceiling. There wasn’t a tray to put dirty cups/ spoons on and no coasters / wrapping in the glasses in the bathroom. The hospitality area felt a little neglected and the kettle had dust over the handle and the coffee machine definitely needed a clean too.

Bed was very comfy, reception staff were lovely.

No Everyday tea bags in either of our rooms, fridge was dirty.

Great place and lovely accommodation- were snowed in for most of it and had our treatments at the spa cancelled due to the weather- we were celebrating my wife’s birthday and they went out their way to accommodate us

Nothing apart from they running out of logs to keep the fires going on the last night - they were delivered the next morning It did get cold in the bar area but the staff tried their best and got heaters for us - they did very well

I need gluten free and plenty options for breakfast

We loved the character and interiors of the property very impressive.

Our room was given to another person but thankfully they sorted that out eventually. While we waited we went for dinner and the food was RUBBISH. My daughter got a pizza and it was clearly a Chicago town pizza and was still frozen when it was served. I asked for another one and they served one that was half cooked. My surf and turf was horrible too, thankfully the desserts were ok so we didn't leave completely starving. Such a let down that they don't have good food as the hotel itself is pretty and I had expected higher standards.

We had an excellent stay. it was just what we needed and the room that we had was amazing. I thought the Spa facility could have an upgrade, but i know this would cost a lot of money, but its a nice relaxing place

The layout for the breakfast could have been better, but this is maybe due to the space available. This is the only little complaint we had.

Mould in shower area, toilet un-secure, bedside lamp broken, windows won’t open unless you jammed something under it, volume on tv didn’t work Key cards malfunctioned multiple times and had to walk all the way back to reception everytime and we were in one of the farthest away rooms

The breakfast staff in particular were pleasant, helpful and unobtrusive. Comfy bed. It was a pleasure to find a hotel bathroom with an effective extractor fan for a change; the heated, steam free mirror is such a boon that I am considering fitting one at home.

The log fires were allowed to run down and seldom stoked, despite the drawing room being particularly chilly. Disappointingly, the sauna within the spa was out of commission throughout our stay; before booking again make a point of finding out if all the spa facilities are functional.

Lovely location. Great staff all friendly and Nadir was an absolute star, look after her she is a credit to your company.

Room was tired looking, water drained very slowly from shower and basin. Phone didn't work and no details of hotel amenities in room . Spa day was appealing which we mentioned separately.

Restaurant needs an update as does the very strange menu.

Ola was brilliant. He went over and above and even checked us in as there was no one to been seen for reception arriving at 9:15pm. Also remembered us the following evening and literally made our stay worth while. He is an asset to the team

After waiting for 15 minutes standing around to check in and once we found somone to check us in after Travelling 12 hours from the south of England my wife asked if there was room service available to be told no we dont as our chef needs to go home in a rude manor by the young girl we found. This was at 9.15pm however Ola helped us check in and arranged food for us. We only booked this hotel as it advertised as a spa.The spa had a broken sauna door so was out of action. The shower and stairs into pool were also broken. Swimming lessons were happening all day so felt really uncomfortable and left. So we did not use the facilities. Another couple followed us in and see the swimming lessons going on and walked back out.The spa also had posters everywhere of Japanese head spa. After my wife asking about this service to book we were told that they do not offer this. We ate at the restaurant and had to ask to be served drinks after 25 minutes even though there were only 2 other tables taken at the time i asked for a filet steak medium rare. This steak had to be sent back twice before refusing. The steak was well done the first time and the new steak was very thin with massive bits of gristle through it and dont believe this to be fillet especially coming up to Aberdeen. The £43 for this was removed off the bill as i complained. We also spoke to other guests who had also sent food back. Even though we sent food back there was no apology. Me and my wife came up to Aberdeen to see a dying family member and wanted this to be a stress free experience however we would not recommend staying here if that is what you want. When in the hotel bar we spoke to two other couples who were only there as they had been offered a free night after complaining about service and we can see why. I complained to staff however i was passed from pillar to post and given an email as no manager available.

Upon arrival we were told spa was closed and all we got offered as compensation was another days use of spa facilities in future but staying over an hour away I won’t be travelling that distance just to use a spa. Also paying £145 for 1 night stay with a dog is expensive and didn’t get use of the main reason we booked it.
