The layout for the breakfast could have been better, but this is maybe due to the space available. This is the only little complaint we had.

Excited at point of arrival, disappointed at point of leaving !!

Mould in shower area, toilet un-secure, bedside lamp broken, windows won’t open unless you jammed something under it, volume on tv didn’t work Key cards malfunctioned multiple times and had to walk all the way back to reception everytime and we were in one of the farthest away rooms

Lovely location. Great staff all friendly and Nadir was an absolute star, look after her she is a credit to your company.

Room was tired looking, water drained very slowly from shower and basin. Phone didn't work and no details of hotel amenities in room . Spa day was appealing which we mentioned separately.

A pleasant break in lovely surroundings

The breakfast staff in particular were pleasant, helpful and unobtrusive. Comfy bed. It was a pleasure to find a hotel bathroom with an effective extractor fan for a change; the heated, steam free mirror is such a boon that I am considering fitting one at home.

The log fires were allowed to run down and seldom stoked, despite the drawing room being particularly chilly. Disappointingly, the sauna within the spa was out of commission throughout our stay; before booking again make a point of finding out if all the spa facilities are functional.

If you want a stress free stay dont bother

Ola was brilliant. He went over and above and even checked us in as there was no one to been seen for reception arriving at 9:15pm. Also remembered us the following evening and literally made our stay worth while. He is an asset to the team

After waiting for 15 minutes standing around to check in and once we found somone to check us in after Travelling 12 hours from the south of England my wife asked if there was room service available to be told no we dont as our chef needs to go home in a rude manor by the young girl we found. This was at 9.15pm however Ola helped us check in and arranged food for us. We only booked this hotel as it advertised as a spa.The spa had a broken sauna door so was out of action. The shower and stairs into pool were also broken. Swimming lessons were happening all day so felt really uncomfortable and left. So we did not use the facilities. Another couple followed us in and see the swimming lessons going on and walked back out.The spa also had posters everywhere of Japanese head spa. After my wife asking about this service to book we were told that they do not offer this. We ate at the restaurant and had to ask to be served drinks after 25 minutes even though there were only 2 other tables taken at the time i asked for a filet steak medium rare. This steak had to be sent back twice before refusing. The steak was well done the first time and the new steak was very thin with massive bits of gristle through it and dont believe this to be fillet especially coming up to Aberdeen. The £43 for this was removed off the bill as i complained. We also spoke to other guests who had also sent food back. Even though we sent food back there was no apology. Me and my wife came up to Aberdeen to see a dying family member and wanted this to be a stress free experience however we would not recommend staying here if that is what you want. When in the hotel bar we spoke to two other couples who were only there as they had been offered a free night after complaining about service and we can see why. I complained to staff however i was passed from pillar to post and given an email as no manager available.

Upon arrival we were told spa was closed and all we got offered as compensation was another days use of spa facilities in future but staying over an hour away I won’t be travelling that distance just to use a spa. Also paying £145 for 1 night stay with a dog is expensive and didn’t get use of the main reason we booked it.

The house and hotel were lovely and the grounds outstandingly beautiful. I enjoyed getting to the lovely pool via a shortcut. The staff were very friendly and there were many places to sit and relax.

Romantic Scottish escape

Beautiful setting - gorgeous scenery and even some highland cows in the grounds! It’s very grand and old school - lots of dark wood and stained glass. Fabulous! The breakfast was delicious. The staff were fantastic and went above and beyond, booking taxis for us and replacing a broken iron in our room immediately with a brand new one.

Some of the bits in the room were a bit broken - the bathroom door handle was wonky and we couldn’t work out how to turn the fan off in the bathroom but these are very minor issues!

Full of character and relaxing.

We loved the history and character of the hotel and the location was handy for most things. A real treat.

There are a few upgrades needed now - some stuff looked tired but not a deal breaker. Small changes would make a big difference. It was lovely to have the pool and spa area available. I had a treatment and the staff were great. A real added bonus. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly.

A Magical Scottish Escape!

Ardoe House is a stunning baronial mansion in a beautiful, quiet setting, yet it's still very close to Aberdeen. Our room was spacious, clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were all wonderfully friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay, enjoying the spa (swimming pool, sauna and hot tub) and would highly recommend it for a special getaway.

Its a luxury and elegant hotel, and they decided not to have a toilet brush at the bathroom.. weird

The fairytale Scottish experience

Location waa excellent, the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent, highly recommend the Burgers, Indian Salad, Ceasar Salad was huge, breakfast was really good value. Children loved their traditional fairytale experience of Scotland. Rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable. We will definitely be coming again.

I dont really want to be picky, however filter coffee at breakfast rather than the machine would have made a huge difference, oat milk or soya options also. The pool was cut into far too many sections for its size, making the family section a little small. However the overall stay was excellent

The overall cleanliness- the sofas were very dirty and around the edges of the room and walls nit clean. It let the hotel down. The staff uniforms didn’t look clean and were messy.

A really peaceful stay in a historical building

Beautiful location, interiors and spa/gym facilities. The bed was big and comfortable. The food was delicious from the restaurant. The staff were helpful.

One of the bedside lamps didn't work and the curtains were hanging off the rails... however even though it didn't take long to fix, housekeeping should be checking that everything works before guests check in. The bar and kitchen seemed to be understaffed, so we had to wait quite a while to order, and our food to almost an hour to come out. Attention to the finer details are expected from an establishment like this.

Very much a mixed experience. Don’t think we would go back.

Location was lovely. Beautiful building. Room was spacious and well equipped but had no drawers, only hangers. Drinks and snacks were provided which was good. Bedding and towels were great quality. Staff were pleasant.

Corridors and public areas were not kept clean. Bathrooms had back mould in the showers. Had to move rooms as first one had no cold water, toilet seat and toilet roll holder were broken. Second room was much better. Every night we returned the keycard wouldn’t work and it was a long way back to reception to get it sorted. Cooked buffet breakfast was plentiful but not hot so we had cereal instead.

The hotel wasn't as clean as i thought it should be...the carpets as you enter the hotel are in desperate need of cleaning/replacing...also the shower grouting and silicone trim were in need of a deep clean.
