Wonderful place to stay, luxurious but also homely and friendly.

The Marcliffe is now a 5 star hotel and has wonderful facilities to relax, eat and entertain. It’s incredibly welcoming and sits in beautiful lush grounds of the start of Deeside, as you leave Aberdeen. Bar and afternoon tea area looks out onto mature trees and there is a patio area to sit out on. Views are beautiful and the recent autumn colours were fabulous. Free parking outside and plenty of it. Our Bedroom was luxuriously, we were in the Fraser suite. Staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed a while and were welcomed back each day at the door which is a lovely touch. To be helped with luggage on arrival was most welcome and we have not experienced that in many good hotels. Wonderful venue for weddings, gatherings or afternoon tea or just a quiet drink. Highly recommend.

Service deserves 10stars. For a 5 star hotel, the staff are 5 star staff. We had such a relaxing and blissful time during our stay. Such a calming atmosphere. Special thanks to Aayush who made our dinner experience on Tuesday very special for me and my husband being so attentive and courteous.

Friendly staff, nice breakfast but uncomfortable bed and messy billing

very clean and friendly staff

Asked for a room with two singles and found the single beds were very small. staff insisted this was a queen bed split in two but In many hotels you can get a twin room which consists of two small doubles based on a super king bed split in two. when I asked staff about upgrading as found it very uncomfortable they started to explain about size of beds required and room size so I gave up. Also really disappointed to see that I have been charged twice for my stay and need to wait 7-14 days for first pre authorised charge to appear back on my credit card. I did show reception receipt for pre authorised amount for two nights but they had no record on there system so charged me a second time for the full amount. If it was a debit card it could be 30 days !!

No Sky Sports to watch Ryder Cup ☹️

Nice location and smart country style hotel. Pianist playing in the lounge all Saturday evening was great and food and service very good. Nice comfy bed.

Hotel is currently redeveloping but generally the decor was 5* in the 80s but really needs significant work to bring it up to standard expected in the 21 century. Old tatty chairs with the stuffing hanging out the arms and 22 inch telly in the room poor lighting in toilet and no Sky TV anywhere to watch the Ryder Cup was just not up to scratch.

Lovely hotel but a little noisy

Lovely staff, beautiful hotel and great food.

The noise of building works. I was disappointed to be given a room that backed onto building works. Day of arrival noise until 6pm and on day of leaving the works started at 7.30 am. I was on a leisure trip so not the most relaxing but overall pleasant.

Although our stay was short, we greatly appreciated the charm and friendliness of the environment.

We truly enjoyed the breakfast: a delicious selection of authentic Scottish dishes, served with great attention and friendliness. The whole experience captured the genuine Scottish spirit

The room was clean and comfortable, though a bit dated. A refurbishment, perhaps inspired by traditional Scottish style, could make it much more inviting and aligned with the character of the hotel.

We took it upon ourselves to stay the night as we were attending a wedding which was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The door man who greeted us which we seen a few times was brilliant. So friendly and funny. The reception staff were a great help and to be honest all staff were great.they did indeed provide the 5 star service. The morning after we got greeted again by the wonderful man and shown to the breakfast room and again the girl who served us gave us great customer service.the breakfast was amazing as was the food at the wedding it was 101% very tasty and lovely presented. All in all it was a lovely experience from start to finish.

That they accept dogs.. Drinks are overpriced..2 wines for £25!!

Since it’s changed hands the rates have skyrocketed from a mid week business deal, and the room wasn’t one of the updated ones, was told the gym was open to get ready and go over and find it wasn’t. The room was boiling hot with no AC therefore no sleep.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at The Marcliffe Hotel for one night from Sunday, August 10 to Monday, August 11, 2025, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This five-star hotel truly lives up to its reputation, thanks to its outstanding staff and impeccable service. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Carly at reception. As a party of four, we initially faced an issue with the hotel’s policy of allowing only two people per room. Carly went above and beyond to understand our situation and promptly secured a second room for us, ensuring our stay was comfortable and stress-free. Her professionalism and kindness made a lasting impression—thank you, Carly!🙏 The dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was a highlight of our stay. The meal was delicious, beautifully presented, and showcased the culinary expertise of the kitchen team. It was the perfect way to unwind after a long day. The next morning, we had an early flight to catch, and the staff’s thoughtfulness truly shone through. Tony, who was in charge of the front area, was incredibly accommodating and arranged for special sandwiches to be packed for our journey. These were expertly prepared by Chef Dave and Fraser in the kitchen, and we could taste the care and pride they put into their work. The sandwiches were a lifesaver and made our travel day so much more pleasant.👍👌 The hotel itself is elegant and comfortable, but it’s the exceptional service that sets it apart. We can’t recommend The Marcliffe enough and will definitely return on our next visit to Aberdeen.
