Location, lovely room , fabulous breakfast and staff
Spa lets it down, cold water for swimming dirty changing area

The breakfast area was nice
The rest of the hotel was a dump, buckets everywhere from leaking roofs. The rooms are old and tired with dirty thread bear carpets and bathroom in a state of disrepair

Historical and unique
Theres a small walking bridge which is dangerous. My wife slipped because its wooden and lacks grip to make walking across it safe.
We informed the hotel so we hope they’ll take steps to make it safe.

Great location. Very good value for money and very comfortable. Very nice plentiful breakfast too! Will definitely stay again.
Muddy car park with many large pot holes but can see they are trying to fix this issue and it would only be an issue in the winter months for the mud. This didn’t take away from the lovely stay though.

It was an easy access. The restaurant staff was very nice and accomodating.
We were given an adjacent room with a communicating door to the next room. We ended up asking to change room as there was too much noise coming from next door. The room were both nice but dated. The whole place could do with good revamp as it looks tired in every corner of it. It still a beautiful property with an amazing history.

Location - My husband and I had our wedding reception at Orton Hall in May 1993.
Bed was comfortable
I would not describe my experience as 4*.
On arrival I was directed to my room (Rm 247) which was someway away from reception and up 3 flights of stairs, there was no offer to help carry luggage and there are no lifts.
Breakfast was served in what looked like a small conference room. was adequate, there was nowhere to put used teabags, all self service - a pot for the tea would have been nice, felt more like a cafe experience than breakfast in a 4* hotel. Maitre d' and another staff member chatted outside the 'breakfast room' throughout.
Bedroom fixtures and fittings were 'tired', (curtains from Dunhelm), paintwork in need of refreshment, toilet seat was a completely different colour to the base. Lots of noise during the night from another guest, wasn't constant so didn't report to reception but did go on periodically throughout the night.
Images on the website and booking.com bear no relation to the room I found myself allocated - I wonder if certain rooms are 'reserved' for those taking advantage of discounted rates?

Enjoyed the massage. The room size, comfy bed,
Nice steam room and sauna
The noise right below our room due to a wedding party happening.
The amount of stairs we had to walk up!
Our shower didn’t work at all and although lovely the management guy couldn’t help us.
Need more loungers in the spa
Need another jacuzzi in the spa
Pool too cold
Lots of Moths in our bedroom
Towels for spa weee in the wardrobe but we didn’t know that - need to be told that on arrival or leave them on the bed

Excellent dinner, a very high quality. Spacious room. Great staff.
The building could be so much better, had original feartures be retained at the forefront of sight.
It is a beautiful historic building, but the character and history has been ruined by adding dark depressing green extensions at the reception, by the gym facilities and in the old courtyard.
The colour is awful and should at least be white to look more attractive.
How someone can agree to add these type of modern additions is beyond comprehension and takes away from all the architecture near the add on works. The views of the building from the back are lovely.
The reception entrance area is a bit tatty and does not exude the quality that they could present. This should have been placed by the old Courtyard, which was was probably, originally the case.
The car park is full of pot holes and mud. It needs repair to a nice tarmac.
The bar has no seating and is depressing.

The property is very clearly grand from the outside and looks impressive.
It is tired inside, carpets need a good clean, bedrooms need sprucing up. Bathrooms are very clean. Sofa’s in the main area have seen better days. The “gym” is three pieces of equipment stuffed into a broom cupboard with windows to the car park. The spa we could not use, it shuts at 6 and you can’t check in until 4. We got there at 5. We had to leave at 10 and fit in breakfast but it didn’t open until 8 so no time to go at all. Breakfast options are poor. Coffee from a thermos and a toaster that had the option of lightly done or burnt only.

Quiet and calm atmosphere everywhere. Rooms are spacious. Hotel staff lovely. Pub food and service very good. Spa lovely.
Spa staff need to up their game to the same level as the hotel staff in the friendly helpful departments. Had to ask 3 times for a refresh of the flasks of hot water in the rest area of the spa.
Car park needs a resurface.
Lockers need updating in the spa changing rooms.

The staff were very friendly. The hall has lots of history, a beautiful building. The Ramblewood Inn was nice
The hot stone massage I had by Grace was amazing! The spa facilities were good, as in the swimming pool, sauna, steam room
When we got to our room, we thought it was a bit crampt for what we paid for. The toilet roll holder was extremely loose, in fact, so loose that it fell off! I mentioned it to the male receptionist, and he said he would let the maintenance team know, maybe they dont work at the weekend, as nothing was done about it. On the morning of us leaving, I took a photo of the toilet roll holder and showed the lady receptionist and suggested that they get it fixed before they let the next couole in there! The headboard was very loose Every time you moved in bed, the headboard rattled against the wall! Also, the window was very drafty
The coffee was quite weak. Not what we were used to

Orton Hall is a beautiful property with interesting history. I really enjoyed my room and all the spa facilities. The hotel has a restaurant which we didn’t use but the pub next to it provides excellent food.

Comfy bed. Good location
Breakfast poor quality and value for money.. SPA is tired and in need of a makeover. SPA should have a better lunch choice and better value £9.50 for a sandwich is ridiculous.

Lovely building, nice location, access to the pool
Needs a renovation, everything is average including the breakfast. It simply lacks the wow factor. The food at the pub is appalling.

Everything was great. No problems.

It was dated and we were given a room that had already been given to someone else - it was sorted out but then suggested we just take the room despite those people already having made themselves at home (laying on beds, using all tea and coffee etc) they finally found another room after pushing for it.

Bathroom was full of mould and falling apart and the beds were hard and uncomfortable
7.0 / 10.0
Room spacious -warm with standard furnishings and magnolia decor. Pleasant aspect over grounds. Bed comfortable - pillows not so much so. Bathroom functional with shower over bath - good towels and heated towel rail:). Dinner - disappointed to be unable to eat in restaurant so only option was the 'pub' next door - less said the better - thank you to staff for adjusting the account. Breakfast - buffet style - broad range of options - gave a start to the day.
Tramping through a muddy car park towards reception - first world issue :(

All good with the exception of a little maintenance needed in the pool area.
Leaking roof in Pool area. Steam Room failed.

Lovely room. Great breakfast and choices of evening meals.
Lovely grounds. Plenty of car parking but rather muddy.
Great spa treatments.
Bus stop at end of lane with 20 minutes into Peterborough centre made easy travel option. £3 each way.
Gym was only 4 machines in a very public area.
It wasn’t an issue but an expensive ongoing refurbishing of windows carpets fittings etc must be a headache!

A beautiful property, oozes style and class. When we arrived at reception I confess to thinking it was tired and needed some TLC but when we walked beyond the reception the hotel was lovely. We had a great room 38. Brilliant price.
Would have liked to have seen inside the Library bar and the restaurant however the pub was lovely especially in the evening in the Christmas lights. They really looked after us.

We booked in the Huntly Restaurant, the service, the food was perfect. Julia was amazing and a great asset to the hotel. Breakfast was delivered to the room with a smile exactly on time and was superb. The room had good facilities but a few things weren't great. There were some bulbs out in the bathroom and lamps, advised Receptionist but no-one came. The shower was a nightmare to use, it was scolding hot then cold, it sprays everywhere so you need to ensure the shower curtain is tucked in to not leak on the floor and the shower head kept slipping forward, only 1 large towel in the bathroom for 2 guests but found a spare in the wardrobe. Very dull lighting in the room to try and get ready. The fire alarm went off a few times. Was shocked to be charged £6.50 tray charge on checkout.
As above

Beautiful old historic building in a great location
Car park needs a lot of attention and our room although lovely was looking a bit tired with a few broken things and bathroom not cleaned well as make up on the taps and soap dispenser
5.0 / 10.0
The staff were very friendly and the location was excellent
Unfortunately the room got very hot so glad the fan was available as I dont think we would have slept, we had to complain about the noise as the room above were arguing or something, because we stayed downstairs having a shower didn't really feel very private as the window was only frosted and had no blind anybody could look in. The shower was intermittent warm one minute and then cold just felt the bathroom was looking tired and needed a bit of an upgrade
9.0 / 10.0
The building was steeped in history, and the room information gave you the historical story.
They have kept bathroom shower worked well and more than one dining area.
Our room could have done with plug sockets fitted with usb ports. Probably not easy to do but a lift would be good.
Car park was muddy.

Sauna and steam room
On arrival I paid the hotel £30 to upgrade the room all I can say is that I would have hated to see the the original room the room was awful and the hotel is need of a massive update.
It’s a spa hotel but I had to pay £10 to hire a robe. It’s really bad. Found the staff quite rude to be honest. I would not stay here again.

Has been at work all day and was looking forward to going to the spa and have a chill that’s why we booked this hotel but was disappointed when was told the spa closed at 6 on a Sunday.
