My stay at the Bell Inn was simply perfect

I think the Bell Inn is beautifully decorated, every detail is delightful. I like the fact there are many places for residents to go if the pub part is busy. I loved the crackling log fire 🔥 the staff are so helpful and friendly. I can’t praise them enough. I really enjoyed my dinner carrot and parsnip burger , my full English breakfast was delicious with two poached eggs perfectly cooked I stayed with my little dog who was treated so kindly with lots of fuss , thank you

Excellent but bar closed to residents on a Saturday evening was a bit of a downer.

Nice spot, clean rooms, good food and helpful staff.

Bar closed at 11pm even for residents and we were shooed out of the bar to a cramped residents lounge. Bit poor on a Saturday evening!

Lovely old Coaching Inn but disappointing room

Attractive and historic coaching inn, full of interest with a comfortable residents lounge and good dining facilities. We had a good evening meal in the bar. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

We were disappointed with our room. Described as a 'classic' double with bath robes and slippers it was anything but and the bathrobes and slippers were nowhere to be seen. It did have a comfortable king size bed but the room itself was cluttered with too much furniture and cushions etc. One chair partly obscuring the bathroom door the other would not fit under a small table which itself was not suitable for the tea and coffee making facilities - again very cluttered. Soundproofing is poor and sleep was much disturbed by people moving around in the middle of the night, seemingly from above. The bathroom was adequate although the shower temperature was difficult to control and guests are asked to open a window when showering, one would expect to find an extractor fan in such an establishment especially as the window had restricted opening. The electric radiator in the bedroom was very difficult to control.

The staff were very friendly and efficient. The music in the room on arrival was a lovely touch. The room was comfortable and clean. The building was old and very interesting with a couple of small and comfortable longes.

Stayed here again, excellent as always. We always stay at The Bell Inn when travelling from Belgium to Scotland. The cozy rooms, comfy beds and tasty breakfast make it the perfect place to break our journey.

Good value and very pleasant stay.

Historic, attractive building. Our room was good value, bed comfortable. I loved that there were robes and slippers as well as a Nespresso. Machine as well as Coffee Bags and Teas. The Robert’s radio was a nice extra. Bar and Bistro are nice.

The water in the bath took a long time to run but a minor niggle.

Beautiful old inn. Excellent supper. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Bathroom could do with a bit of smartening up - but was perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was delicious, but we waited over 30 minutes after we’d placed our order, and it was rather tepid when it arrived at the table, so I suspect it was waiting in transit longer than ideal!

Everything about the Bell Inn was exceptional. The breakfast was amazing, staff friendly and food in the bar fantastic with so much to choose from absolutely loved the white Stilton pate was delicious.

The locks on the door were difficult to work took a while open and lock the door!

Lovely Bell at Stilton

The room was very good, well appointed and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the actual bath itself was very large, the biggest I've seen for a while. The furnishings were very good and in keeping with the overall style of the hotel. Staff were very friendly whether in the bar, restaurant or the house team. We ate every night and the food was generally very good. Breakfast was also good.

Not so much didn't like but I would suggest the breakfast options be opened up a little. To have 3 types of egg dish with Hollandise sauce is a bit much I feel. No complaints about the full English, though. And the breakfast room is extremely charming.

Beautiful period stone building restored with integrity and style although a little dated. The quality was good.

Lovely place but need more staff

There wasn’t enough staff Rang before we got to the hotel to delay our restaurant reservation as we were delayed in heavy traffic couldn’t get anyone to answer phone rang several times .Also rang main reception no body answered left a voicemail 2 days later they returned the call ! Also kept waiting to order food .I had to wander round trying to find a member of staff to check out rang bell at reception but nobody arrived . 15 minute later finally found a member of staff . Staff were very pleasant but just kept waiting .

Comfortable, cosy rooms. Lovely tea & coffee, classical music on the radio. Nice selection of toiletries. Lots of areas for a drink or a meal. Food served all day inc tea, coffee and fresh baked goods. Great breakfast, cooked to order, served at the table with fresh tea or coffee, no machines or hot plates.

We stayed on a Saturday night and there was a party downstairs, music until midnight. We didn’t mind too much but maybe finishing a little earlier would have suited other guests
