SAT NAV found it difficult to locate the main entrance but once we drove around for a while we found our own way in

Good hotel, ashame about the bed.

The hotel staff were amazing and very helpful all of the time, they made sure that we were looked after at the restaurant and the bar as well as offering places to visit advice to us on reception. I don't think I walked in once without being greeted by a member of the staff. The hotel was clean and well appointed at all times, the rooms are spacious and well looked after as always in a novotel.

The bed was awful, particularly for someone with back problems, it had some sort of lump in the mattress or where the foam was damaged which caused me a few issues. Staff in the hotel did apologise for this however they couldn't do much else. This did mean that I slept poorly at the hotel the entire time I was there. The other issues was the Air-conditioning or lack there of, as the rooms are quite warm already there is no wau to cool them off which was a little uncomfortable. For brits watch out for the milk powder in the room, as it isn't good a will ruin your tea/coffee no matter how you try and use it.

Children ran wild in the reception area, parents should have been told to control their children - disturbed other guests and used all the drinking cups to play on the floor - then put them all back for guests to continue to use. Disgusting! Room was very basic and bed uncomfortable, bathroom needed a big update. And it wasn’t cheap - so not even good value for money. Would not stay again.

Great overnight stay and will stay there again if we have a morning ferry

Dinner was a buffet and BBQ. Very nice food. The room was fine and exactly what we needed. We were travelling from Limoges to catch the morning ferry from Ouisterham and this hotel was well placed for an overnight and not a bad price. What topped it for us was the staff… what an amazing bunch, but I can’t for the life of me remember the bar man’s name 🤦‍♀️.. he was funny, knowledgeable and introduced us to Generous Gin 🙌🏼 which we wholeheartedly thank him for 😁

Very convenient for getting to Caen city centre and the ferry port.

Convenient for the ferry

The receptionist wasn’t very welcoming. We were given a room, which was further most from reception. A long way to walk with luggage. We we given a twin room where we always have a double. The evening meal was adequate.

The hotel was in a good location and very accessible for the ferry port. The swimming pool and facilities for the children were very good both indoors and outside.

We booked to have an evening meal in the hotel restaurant. The meals were disappointing; the meat was overcooked despite us being asked when ordering how we would like it cooked; the dishes we were served were very basic with no garnish, but other diners eating the same dishes around us had garnishes on their plates; our orders were mixed up so a steak that should have been served rare with rice was served well done with chips, and a medium steak with chips was served very well done with rice. The waitress took the wrong desert orders and so half of our party were left waiting for their dishes. The waitress was extremely rude to the children in our party and upset them by the way she spoke to them. The whole experience of eating in the restaurant put a dampener on the trip which was the last night of our holiday which is a shame when we were otherwise impressed by the location and facilities at the hotel.

Convenient for ferry, wouldn’t stay again

The staff were extremely friendly at check in, bar and check out. We could check in early when we arrived.

The sofa bed was not made up ready for our children, the room was very hot, the decor very dated and the water didn’t smell good in the bathroom. Also powdered milk for the coffee was old and not good. Children’s area near reception and restaurant was great for kids, but parents were not supervising their children and made the whole reception a mess and there were children getting in the way of people trying to get to their rooms. Some children built a tower on the floor with the cups from the drinking station, then when their parents came back and saw all the cups over the floor they just put them back for everyone else to drink from, disgusting! The hotel staff needed to step in and ask the parents to oversee their children.

Clean and nice to have a swimming pool , lovely kids play area in reception . The rituals toiletries very nice

The restaurant was only open a few hours a day very inconvenient . Dinner was busy as it opens for 2 hours a night and it’s quite late for children. LThe staff seemed to sit around eating meals when it wasn’t open . Breakfast was ridiculously overpriced at 20 euros . One of the staff came into our room while we were sleeping and quickly went back out without saying anything (my son was awake).location has not much around it , it wasn’t near the ferry port probably 15 to 20 min drive

First two days during our visit to Normandy started in Caen, and the city and hotel were wonderful.

Front desk clerks spoke English and were extremely helpful!! Dining area was excellent and service was great.

Very nice stay.

Good shower with enough pressure. Free parking. Airco was working well. Swimming pool had nice warm temperature (28 degree Celsius). Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was excellent, and the kids could eat for free. Dinner in the evening was also very good.

The pillows were not good. Luckily I always bring my own. Not very cheap (€162 per night without breakfast).

Great location, good parking facilities were excellent. Good breakfast. Limited choice evening meal menu but excellent quality and value for money.

While eating one evening meal the staff were busy preparing the tables for breakfast next morning. We felt we needed to rush our food and get out of their way!

Potentially a nice hotel. But ultimately disappointing.

It was adequate for our needs.

Firstly, the restaurant had stopped serving food by the time we arrived, and then when we fetched some food from a nearby outlet we were told to leave the bar area and go to our room. What a lousy way to treat your guests! Secondly, the fridge in our room didn’t work, and we had perishable items we had hoped to keep fresh. We reported this in the morning.

A superb hotel, close to transport and great staff

The Novotal had suffered a major water leak and were unable to check us in on arrival, whilst they awaited repairs as they had no water at all. They had provided an alternative at their nearby Mercure Hotel, which we found excellent, recently refurbished, very nice rooms and a great breakfast. The managed this difficult situation exceptionally well.

Good location but falling behind in room cleanliness for families

The restaurant staff and the gentleman at reception saved the day.

We were first given a room where the sofa bed's sheets had not been changed. Luckily, the gentleman at reception showed us an alternative room. Having remade the beds, I would prefer that Novotel provide duvets for the sofa beds rather than the old and awfully stained blankets.

Food at breakfast and dinner was very good much better than expected for this type of a hotel. Free parking big carpark safe for large car. Free hot / cold water at the reception with glass bottles to refill - every hotel should have this
