Da Gillo

It was lovely to have our own little house in Trieste. The rooms were lovely and the kitchen great to have with a generous amount of coffee left for our stay.. It was very clean. Alice's smiley, friendly welcome was lovely and she gave us lots of information. The bus just round the corner was great for getting into town.

The only thing was the creaky floorboards which we were afraid would wake people up - especially at night. Might they need replacing?

Fantastic guest, easy to host. Highly flexible when accommodating last-minute requests and helpful with the trip logistics. Communication was smooth and effortless from start to finish.

The building has a historic charm that outweighs minor quirks. We loved the classic allure, antique wooden furniture, and parquet floors. Some squeaks from the floors and occasionally footsteps from the apartments above/below can be heard. For us, this was a minor thing and the apartment was worth it, but some might have a different opinion. The sound insulation of windows is anyway very good. So, no noise whatsoever from outside the building.

Great apartment, bigger than expected.and with 2 separate bathrooms (one had a shower). Kitchen was very well equipped. Location was great. Lots of places to eat or get groceries (Aldi & Lidl) nearby (5min to walk). A 10-minute walk to the start of the city center and several buses stopping nearby which was very convenient. You don't have to buy tickets for the bus, you just hold your credit card to the machine inside the bus and it will charge you directly for each ride and only up to the amount of a day ticket). So easy!

No parking near the house but that was to be expected. Host gave us recommendations on where to park the car nearby. Also, the floorboards in the apartment where creaking a lot. As we travelled with small kids, we were afraid to wake them when walking through the apartment in the evening/ during the night. But our friends who live in Trieste said this is very common for houses in Trieste.
