The host, Charles, was very amiable. Parts of the home were from the 1600s. He also cooked a delicious hot breakfast. We stayed in the room with the king size bed. Robes were offered since our private bathroom was down the hall.
The walls were very thin so we could hear the people staying in the next room quite clearly. The bathroom shower and sink needed a good scrub. We slept on a down mattress, which was not to our liking. It was a soft and dipped in the middle.

Really comfortable room with welcoming hospitality from owner.
As a lone female traveller I try to avoid rooms in houses which I hadn’t realised this was. There was no lock in the door so initially I felt vulnerable. However with guests arriving in the room next door I felt less isolated. A beautiful stay but it would have been helpful to know the set up beforehand which I didn’t not feel was clear in the details on booking.com.

Not knowing the area I booked a room here using Booking.com. Beautiful surroundings. A 17th century house in old established gardens with some lovely trees and shrubs and a large lawn. The parking area is very small but we had asked to book a spot before arriving and were able to park along with another car. To get to the door of the property we were surprised to have to walk across the grass but it was a dry day so didn't cause any problems. We saw no dog poo as I have noted other reviews have mentioned and the owners dogs were not loose. On entering the owner showed us into a small cosy snug where we filled out our registration and filled out what we would like for breakfast the next day. He was very pleasant and friendly. Then he showed us to our room upstairs (the Deluxe King Room.) The stairs are very steep so anyone with mobility problems may find it unsuitable. I have difficulty with going up and down stairs but just about coped. The room itself was reached through an old oak door which was a little difficult to close, but it's a 17th century house so must be expected to be a little "quirky" due to its age. Our bathroom was a few steps down the landing from our room but it was just for our use and not shared. The door was warped and wouldn't close but as it was just for us and we could push it to that was OK with us really. There was a fair sized shower cubicle and plenty of piping hot water. It was a good size and clean towels were provided. There was no TV in the room and I think I can understand the reasoning. This is not a hotel but someone's home. The walls are thin so any noise carries and having a TV on in one room could cause problems for people in the others. The room was quite spacious and had double glazing. The floor was uneven and sloping but as it's 400 years old that could be excused and we found it quite funny. There was a wardrobe to hang clothes and in there were extra bedding items.

Beautiful grade 2 listed property. Stunning gardens . Comfortable bed. Good quality breakfast . Charles pleasant host.
Room extremely dusty. Thick dust on mirror tops and skirting boards badly stained carpets and sofa. Lots of cobwebs especially on light fitting over bed which we wiped down. Bathroom needed attention scummy shower tray and fittings. Thick dust on top of bin and toilet brush holder. Needs a proper deep clean.
