Excellent service, great food and location.

We really enjoyed our trip - read about it in Country Living! Very well looked after but unobtrusive. Excellent food in the evening and breakfasts were great. Fish restaurant recommended was the best we’d been to. Would definitely recommend! Clare and Alun

Dog friendly room was at top of fairly steep stairs, so a little challenging to navigate with our rather enthusiastic 9 month Labrador puppy.

LOVELY QUIRKY WELCOMING PLACE

The house is quirky which makes it nice. Everything was well done. Hosts were great. Beds were very comfy. Breakfast was top-class. There was a lovely sitting area downstairs with fire going and maps etc where we enjoyed a Welcome cuppa.

minor detail was that we couldn't stay in the sitting area for the evening because there was an Event on there. But even that was quite novel and our room was comfy in any case (and spacious).

Absolutely perfect!

We absolutely loved everything - this is absolutely the best B&B we’ve ever stayed in! It’s very stylish, the room was spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Tony cooked up a delicious breakfast for us in the morning too. Tony was so welcoming, and friendly and was very accommodating with our late arrival and our dog. We will absolutely be staying again! Thanks so much:)

Super hospitable host. Loved the decor, quality of furnishings and good communication. Breakfast was piping hot, great quality in a lovely dining setting. We liked the touch of the fire being lit to come down to.

Didn’t like the coffee sachets in the bedroom, not a nice taste. Realised there was a pod machine downstairs so will bring pods next time. Only a small thing.

A welcome break on the banks of the Severn.

What a pleasant surprise at the end of a long drive across S Wales. Splendid hosts, a wonderful quirky property (it really was the Severnside (Printing) Press, now restored to good health by the fabulous owners, who also live on site. Very welcoming, lots of local knowledge and advice, an excellent breakfast. Just make sure you get the welcome pack which should come via Booking.com and gives a meal option.

The hosts were very welcoming and the room was very comfortable. Superb freshly cooked breakfast. The hosts have put their own original ideas into effect to give a very interesting and contemporary feel to the property. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

A perfect overnight stay in a lovely area.

A lovely old house in the interesting village of Newnham. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was freshly cooked and good. Our host was friendly, helpful and attentive. Newnham has two pubs a good looking restaurant, which which was fully booked on the night of our stay and some lovely walks.

Great B&B, lovely location and great value for money!

The room was nicely decorated, great attention to detail and lovely furniture and furnishings. The location was ideal for what we wanted - a short taxi ride from the Severn and Wye Smokery, and an easy riverside walk to the White Hart Inn for some sunny afternoon drinks. The host was great and breakfast was delicious. We'd definitely book here again next time we visit the area. I highly recommend staying here if you're wanting to visit the Severn and Wye area!

The weather was very warm when we visited and we couldn't figure out how to open the windows. There was a fan provided however which did help.

Top rated stay and hospitality

Lovely little village location, room was lovely and clean and comfortable, especially with a free upgrade to a larger room. Tony was so accommodating, recommending places to eat out, local walks and the breakfast and homemade cake on arrival was just delicious. Our dog was also made welcome with dog treats, access to the breakfast room and garden. Nothing was too much trouble.

Charming Place, Though Some Comments Felt Unnecessary

The accommodation was truly lovely — the room was spacious, very clean, and beautifully decorated with artistic touches that made it feel warm and inviting. The bed was comfortable, and the overall setting was peaceful and relaxing. That said, the property itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a high level of comfort.

There were, however, a couple of moments that felt a little uncomfortable. When we requested a toilet paper refill on the second day, the response was unexpectedly dismissive, with a remark about the amount already provided — which felt unnecessary. During breakfast, there seemed to be some discomfort from the host when we left a portion of the meal (specifically the roasted mushrooms), as it didn’t quite suit our taste. A comment was made questioning how, after living in the UK for five years, we still couldn't enjoy a traditional British breakfast — which came across as unkind and unnecessarily judgmental. It would be wonderful to see a more open and respectful attitude toward guests of different races, cultures, and food preferences. A genuinely welcoming approach can go a long way in making all guests feel comfortable and valued.

The space was calm and beautiful. A lot of thought have been put in the place. Beautiful art and furniture everywhere. The room was comfortable. Food was delicious, had dinner made by Tony too and it was very tasty.

Beautiful location within walking distance of the river Severn. Easy access to the Forest of Dean. Really cosy, home from home feel, owners were lovely, welcoming and helpful.

Because of the age of the property the stairs are a bit steep, so may not be suitable for all.

Severnside press stay

We stayed at the Severnside press whilst visiting the area. Tony was helpful from the second made the booking, communication was great and the welcome was warm. The B&B is a perfectly decorated home from home with beautiful decor, big comfy beds and soft fluffy towels. The room has everything you could need and more. Breakfast was fresh, home cooked with plenty of options. A wander around the village is a must to taken in the beautiful old buildings. We will definitely be booking again 🙂

Tony was friendly & attentive to all or needs. Thankfully he was about to assist us with getting our big suitcases up & back down the narrow staircase. The breakfast was great & personally prepared by Tony. The property is very clean & excellently presented.

Our rooms window faced the main road & although double glazed we can still hear the traffic which didn’t stop.

Forest escape

Room spacious (classic double), comfy big bed, thoughtful touches in the room to make the stay comfortable (fan in the hot weather), very nicely decorated, great location for Forest of Dean, Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham, Cirencester. Nice Farm shop and pubs nearby. Tasty breakfast! Hope to return, excellent hosts!

No fault with the BnB! Hot weather so had windows open at night, which if you are bothered by some passing traffic noise (not loads) would maybe affect your stay. But some earplugs solved the issue! And this wouldn't be a problem in cooler temperatures with windows shut.

A very welcoming place with a buzzing atmosphere. You can tell that the owners are artists and gourmets. The breakfasts were excellent and there were two events during our short stay.

No dedicated parkimg, but plenty of space on-street just around the corner.
