The accommodation was cozy, well dressed and furnished and in its own little area. Parking was great. The breakfast was the best I’ve had, I don’t eat egg, but substitutions were offered without me feeling awkward. The owners are two of the nicest hosts, so interested and friendly. Will definitely stay again!

Kathleen, the manager was so welcoming and really looked after us. We were a party of 7, and she made our stay so special. Chef made us delicious evening meals and breakfasts. All staff were so friendly. The pub is so cosy and beautiful, and the bedrooms/accommodation are excellent. It was our Dad's 85th birthday weekend and it has given us fabulous memories to treasure.
Nothing, it was all fabulous.

Lovely pub. Friendly staff. Food was nice.
Heating wasn't working when we arrived but was fixed quickly. Room a bit cold.

Lovely pub and lovely location
We chose here as they state it sells fruit cider, so we could have a drink and a night away. Had to go to another pub 15mins away so I could have a drink while my partner drank non alcoholic beer

Breakfast was gorgeous and good selection bacon was amazing pub was so cosy and inviting staff where so lovely and attentive. Dog was made to feel very welcome will definitely return. We had dinner in our room on the 2nd night due to storm Claudia we had steak which was cooked to perfection and a gorgeous warm Cajun chicken salad even though it was in take away boxes its was delicious.
The toilet seat needs changing in the room we stayed in the under side (the boys view) has seen better days. Pies where ok i was expecting more lovely pastry but lots of sauce not much meat or flavour. I'm used to an Eric Lyons pie from my local butchers now that's a pie. Phil check them out.

Fantastic spot to explore the beautiful forest of Dean. The pies that they rave about met our expectations. Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.
Pillows lacked oomph. and the bed was on a little bit of a lean in a weird way?

Pleasant quiet room no stairs and near the car park. Atmospheric pub without being too noisy. Long mirror with plug socket nearby. Clean linen.
Bed was a bit uncomfortable perhaps new mattresses. It was a squeeze to get in the shower and temperature regulation was non existent. Either cold or scalding hot suggest a staff member tries it out to understand.

Location great! Pub very nice
The room wasn’t clean and very dated. Very dusty! Shower super weak pressure

Lovely pub and friendly staff
Not as clean as it could have been. Floor felt gritty and lots of cobwebs/dust behind bed. Just looked at bit tired. Curtains were unhooked in a couple of places and nets were black at the bottom.
On a positive note, it was lovely and warm and in a great location. Pub itself is lovely.

Everything was amazing from the time we arrived until the time we checked out after a great breakfast , The evening meal (award winning pie) of course was really good, The bar is well stocked with different beers, wines and spirits and is a nice place to socialise.
All the staff were friendly and chatty.
The Food and Drink prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be returning soon. Phil the landlord is a bit of a character in a fun way enjoys a laugh with his customers.
Nothing to Dislike Everything Was First Class 👍

The pub part was fine
The motel type accommodation at the back of the pub was very tired. Dusty and cold room. Breakfast is only from 8am which is late in the week day. Pub was still locked and in darkness at 8.15 so had to miss breakfast as couldn’t wait to see when or if it was going to open.

Easy to find, nice old building, enough space in chalet room, good parking, tranquil setting - we heard owls at night, courtyard outside rooms.
Chalet room was cold and had no heating. I needed 2 duvets. And dark even with lights on. The kettle was half- full with brown water.
Friendly staff. Even so, I did not like seeing staff walking to and fro with cleaning mops and buckets while we were finishing dinner.

Nice pub, good food, friendly staff.
The rooms can only be described as grubby. The bathroom especially required a deep clean. Looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks.

Lovely location, staff very friendly, good food although when the chef came through he had sweat dripping off his nose, understandable as it was very warm ,just not a nice thought that it might have dripped in the food.
Room could have been alot cleaner. Floor was dirty and cobwebs everywhere toilet hadn't been cleaned properly. Quite a bit of dust on various ledges.

The location is fine. The young member of staff when we arrived was very pleasant and helpful.
Where do i start? We didn't rate the place at all. I don't know how this place has got so many positive reviews. The people who wrote them must have stayed in some really bad places. Our room was small(OAK) and the decor was very tired. It was very hot during our 2 night stay,no fan in the room, and being at ground level didn't like to leave the windows open. The bed was uncomfortable, the double socket next to the bed, only one socket worked. In the evening we had booked a table for 18.30 we arrived at 18.25. We were shown to our table, and we sat there until 18.50, I called the person over that had shown us to our table and asked why we hadn't been seen to. He just apologised and took our order. My pint of Ale arrived and that was fine my partners orange juice lemonade was terrible,it tasted like it had been made with orange squash, when I complained they assured me that it hadn't. It had been made from orange juice from a carton, cheap supermarket brand that they charging good money for. We both had burgers that evening, that weren't good, full of gristle. Where we were sitting there was an electric cable fitted with decorative light bulbs along it's length, one of the bulb holders didn't have a bulb,if a child had stuck it's fingers in it who knows what might have happened. When I settled my bill I had a discussion with a lady behind the bar,she seemed to be the person in charge. She amended my bill and said she would pass my comments onto the management. We did not use the establishment again after that. We left early on Sunday morning,07.00 after a bad night's sleep, there is a ridiculous sign outside this establishment that reads HONK IF YOU LIKE PIES and people do,at all hours!!! There was no place to leave the room key when we left,i looked everywhere around the property for a letterbox but there was nothing.

Lovely, comfortable beds, convenient location and a pleasant atmosphere in the pub
Rooms rather rather basic and we could hear every sound in the neighbouring room. Shower not brilliant and we expected a higher level of comfort for the price
