Great food. Comfy bed.
10.0 / 10.0
The room was really cosy, enough space for the two of us and our dog. Bathroom was pretty big. Netflix on TV. Comfy bed
I wouldn’t say I didn’t like anything the only thing we struggled with was the WiFi wasn’t great and the shower would switch temperatures whilst you were showering and wasn’t very powerful.

We stayed at the Crosskeys pub overnight. The room had everything we needed and the evening meal and breakfast were excellent and we made friends with 'wiskers'...... These pubs need our support otherwise they will be lost forever.

Attractive dining room and Christmas decoration. Friendly staff and food evening meal and breakfast excellent, made with quality ingredients
Too few sockets, ceiling light fixture broken in room 1. No shower cap. No wastebin in bedroom

Very cosy little inn with convenient parking, nice staff and good food. Staff were very nice and friendly and check in extremely smooth and stress free, particularly since I booked in last minute on line, 20 minutes before arrival. Room was a little quirky on the decoration side but I liked it and it was warm and comfortable with a good size bathroom. I didn't have breakfast but the burger ('Sloppy Joe' I think) I had for dinner was really nicely done and thoroughly enjoyable as was the modestly priced Merlot I had with it.
There is a busy A road next to the hotel, which was quite noisy but, to be fair, didn't hamper my sleep. Check out was a little confusing since the pub was empty and locked (got out via the garden room) and I wasn't sure what to do with my room key (left it in the lock, which is where it was on arrival). This was not a big issue but I'd suggest a simple information sheet might be handy for guests.

Friendly staff
The shower was awful - just cycled between boiling and freezing no matter what you did with the controls.

Stayed overnight in small room which was all we needed as on route to see family. We booked a table in pub restaurant below room. Good selection on menu at reasonable choice. We weren’t disappointed the food was lovely. Also booked cooked breakfast for the next morning. You could hear the bar below but it was a comforting rumble and stopped early so good nights rest. Staff very tentative and friendly. Would stay again.
Our room a little tired but a lot of that is to do with the age of the building and difficulty to alter surroundings. But still comfortable.

Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.
The room is beautiful with a comfortable bed.
Breakfast is delicious.
The shower is difficult to figure out and drastically changes temperature while showering.

The bed was so comfy.
Food was good. Friendly service.
Lovely warm fire in the bar/restaurant area.
Good quality cask beer although wish there was more than one.
I was concerned the road noise would keep me awake but it never did.

The location, the ambience and the staff
The room provided was smaller than expected and unfortunately the larger room switch bath etc, next to the one provided, was not available.
6.0 / 10.0
The food was good and the atmosphere in the bar was pleasant.
The tv in the room was not connected to aerial so only casting was available. The layout wasn’t good as kettle was based beneath the clothes rack. The electric shower was a real concern as it kept going hot and cold which burned momentarily.

The staff were really friendly and the food was amazing.
The bed was uncomfortable.

The whole experience was great. Lovely atmosphere in the pub and staff were really welcoming and helpful. We stayed the night in a quirky room full of character- more important to us than clinical hotel rooms. The food was superb- both dinner and breakfast were exceptional.

Great full English breakfast - dinner was also excellent. Staff friendly and helpful.

Ate there one night and meal reasonable.
It is an old pub with rooms above. Rooms could be called quaint but cramped. French have a better word. Rustic. For the price facilities poor. So basic.

The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent. The rooms were clean, comfortable and a nice country style.
The water in the showers was either cold/hot/chilly and hard to control.

Nice little inn to stay for a couple of nights. Staff were attentive and understanding - we had an unexpected late checkin.
Bed mattress wasn’t very comfortable, wooden door didn’t really cover the door frame so there wasn’t much privacy in the room, as you could hear the outside, with music going on until late night. I guess it’s what you expect from a very old inn, but it just wasn’t very comfortable to rest after a whole day of walking and going up and down.
Apart from that, room was cosy and what you need for a short stay.

The location and room great for me as single traveller would have been a bit cramped for a couple.

Everything. Relaxed vibe, great food, staff were fab. We left things behind us and they were great to search and come back immediately. Really really enjoyed our stay.

Good atmosphere in the pub, busy.
Room was just ok. Difficult to shower without a screen.
Few cobwebs in the room.
Basket with coffee tea was not clean

A good location, not far from Goodrich Castle. The restaurant, while a little pricey, has much to commend it. But you don't have to be a Level 3 Genius to realise that, at the price, the accommodation (at least in room 3) is likely to be a little cramped.
With the double bed occupying nearly all of the floor space, you need shin pads to circumnavigate the bedframe. No information on hand regarding actions in the event of fire and very little space to set things down, either in bedroom or en suite.

A great Inn, with super food, great beer and a nice, quirky bedroom with a comfy bed. We were cycle touring and they were super helpful and very relaxed, in giving us a secure place for our bikes. We'd certainly choose to stay here again.
There was a bath with shower and a hand basin in the bedroom. However, a screen, or curtain along the bath would be very useful, as currently it's very difficult to shower without flooding the place.

The location was just what I needed, the people were friendly and the dinner I ate was exceptional.
The room I was in had the facilities I expected, including a much needed fan. The shower was excellent. The decor had been thought about carefully, with
The little things in the room could have done with a little TLC, for example the loo roll holder and the pole used instead of a wardrobe, both fell down with the slightest touch.

Friendly pub . Location. Great food. Goid shower.
Stairs ; access to bedrooms; pub was left unattended at night; bedroom very tired.
Bathroom shabby .
Breakfast service didn’t begin until 09.00

Rooms very charming

Quirky, old building. Easy parking. Clean and comfy bed.
A bath and sink in the room, rather than a separate bathroom. Close to a main road, so can be noisy if the window is left open. People were not overly interested or friendly.

The meal in the evening was very nice.
Appreciate we were advised AFTER booking the room was small & very basic, it should not have been marketed as a double. The stairs accessing the room were dangerous due to the stair carpet being loose & definitely a trip hazard.
Better no carpet.
There was no signage for fire escape routing in the room or on the exit from the room. We were on the second floor & it looked like there was no alternative egress in case of an emergency.
These observations are made by someone fully conversant with “Health & safety” risk.
There was no facility for a breakfast, I do not believe this was stated when booking, if this was missed I apologise.

Food was very good and the staff were pleasant
Room was small which we knew but TV didn’t work and was mounted on an angle, shower rail broken and hanging down, loo roll holder broken, decor very drab and a terrible smelling reed diffuser.
4.0 / 10.0
It was relatively cheap and the pub downstairs was nice
The bed was awful, really creaking and any slight movement it could wake you up.
The toilet seat was wobbly and on its last hinges, the tv was on the wall crooked and wall paper bubbling. Although it was cheap I’ve stayed in properties at this price with much higher comfort levels and finished to a better standard

Nice quiet rural location in an old pub. Due to the age of the original building the room was quite small but was expected. Had small ensuite - again, the shower was small but you can't expect more. Electric kettle and some supplies to make a coffee in the morning. Had dinner in the evening on arrival and left early the next morning. A great location/base for exploring the Wye Valley. I dorve south and walked in the Tintern area. Plenty of parking to get the car off the road a bit later in the evening when some of the other pub patrons had left. Friendly publican/host - very welcoming.
All was in keeping with the age of the building - narrow stairs etc so not really a criticism.

Little bit run down but full of character

Outstanding food. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Abundance of wildlife in rewilded garden.
Could do with a small bin / dish for tea bags.
10.0 / 10.0
Very clean room. Fantastic hosts. Gave us a very good welcome. Ample car parking. Charming building, old beams, uneven floors were very authentic. Restaurant/bar downstairs both friendly and food was freshly cooked and of a high standard. Slept well in our small but perfect double with tea and coffee making facilities. Excellent value for money
Maybe road noise but to be honest we had a lovely nights sleep so isn't an issue

Quirky room
Only improvement suggestion - have some bubble bath available in the room - most people don't carry it with them
5.0 / 10.0
Atmosphere
No mirror over the sink for shaving. Room was spartan. No cereal or toast offered for breakfast
