Relaxed and friendly and a great place to lay your head for a couple of

The landlord/proprietor was so very welcoming and friendly and even though our arrival was late due to traffic delays, nothing was too much trouble. There is a friendly and easy going vibe and it is obvious that customer satisfaction is his aim. That was achieved! Clean crisp linen and towels, clean bathroom and suitcases carried to the room for us on arrival.

The shower head wasn’t great so could do with a new one. The water was hot and the shower room was very clean but you had to dance around a bit to get wet 😂

Very clean and comfortable, great shower, breakfast was delicious.

Very noisy, we stayed on a Saturday night and the bar downstairs had a disco on so we were kept up by music and very loud voices out on the street til early hours of the morning.

Lovely hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Room was lovely and clean, and bed super comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and really well organised with lots of options.

Have nothing bad to say only would have liked to of been informed there was no dinner service as we had planned to eat there and had to just pick somewhere else last minute. Didn’t spoil our stay in anyway, was just a slight inconvenience.

Just returned from a fantastic stay at The Angel Hotel – truly one of the best we’ve ever experienced! 🌟 From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, full of charm and character. 🏨✨ The hotel is in a fantastic location, perfect for exploring the area and enjoying some beautiful walks and local attractions. 🚶‍♂️🌿 A perfect blend of comfort, personality, and convenience – this place is a real gem. Staff were warm and welcoming, lovely old world charm about the place, clean spacious room, nice bar and one of the best full English breakfasts I've ever had in a hotel. As a coeliac I was well catered for.

The only downside was it had no onsite car parking but a free car park was just a short distance away

Everything we had hoped to find and more.

Booked family room for me, my wife and granddaughter. Our room was great; granddaughter was overjoyed to find there was, in addition to her own, a bed for her furry friend in her room. The price was great and the lady we mostly dealt with (the owner?) very helpful. The stay was in the middle of a 2-day break. The 3 of us had a wonderful time together.

The breakfast provided was excellent. This was a booking made on the day and they were very accommodating. The room had a double and two singles ( family room). The room was very clean and welcoming. There was tea and coffee in the room.

Was disappointed with not having a meal in the evening, despite booking a table. Was told whilst having a drink in the bar just before our booked time, that the chef wasn’t coming in, we would have to find alternative dining in the town.

Location close and walking distance to puzzlewood forest and clearwell caves. Location was perfect. Breakfast was nice as well. Friendly staff.

Not many restaurants in the area and very loud at night. Some minor improvements, for breakfast could use fresh tomatoes instead of tin. Need a shelf in bathroom for toiletries and bag. Otherwise really good hotel.

Perfect for a short break in the Forest of Dean

Ideal location for exploring the Forest of Dean. Clean and comfortable room, Breakfast was excellent. Staff were welcoming. We have stayed here a number of times and the hotel is good value for money. An excellent Tapas restaurant next door is a bonus.

The hotel is opposite the market place. It was a little noisy at closing time on Friday night, but nothing serious.

The room was clean which was surprising with how the rest of the place looked

Staff and owners don’t know what customer service is, I will say the lady I spoke to first I think one of the owners she seemed nice enough although I didn’t see her there but the girl that checked me in was helpful to start with until I asked if I could request an iron then it started she said someone should come up and see you about it no one did, so a short while after I went back downstairs to ask again and not realising where I was standing she said in a hostile way “your not supposed to be round here at all you’ll have to go round the other side then I overheard her repeat it to who I can only guess was one of the owners” I have told him he’s not to be round this side “ well I didn’t know where to go considering I’d just arrived not long before seemed like she loves drama and was looking for it totally needs to be taught about how she speaks to people uncalled for behaviour and not professional, when the owner did come and get the iron for me his manner wasn’t welcoming it was just if it’s not there that’s it ok you won’t be having one in an aggressive tone , I’m so glad I only stayed the one night place is looking real tired worn carpets cracks in walls everywhere nothing nice about it , another thing to add is they state that you should ring ahead to book an evening meal yet no one ever answers the phone I tried over two days consecutively and no answer even leaving a couple of voicemails it’s pathetic still I probably had a lucky escape as I found a nice restaurant on the way and ate there as I didn’t want to chance it, all in all I don’t recommend it

Warm and welcoming.

From arrival to leaving all staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful.Our room was on different levels and had steps,however this didn't impede our stay. The beds were clean and so comfortable. Breakfast was perfect, Hot and well cooked.

Coleford festival

Perfect location for the festival. Ladies were very friendly and we checked in early. Could see the main stage from our room window which was a blessing in the heat. 2 fans in the room too. Nice breakfast too. Will be back next year

They serve a great breakfast!

The carpet could have been cleaner, and the door to the bathroom should close more quietly. When we checked in there was a sock on the floor where the closing door meets the frame. This sock, presumably put there by the previous occupant to soften the close, helped a lot, but it did make us wonder if the room was cleaned properly.

Place to sleep glad we were only staying the one night.

The twin beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Having to park in town car park about 3-4 minutes away as no parking at hotel and having had to leave nearly all our belongings in the car overnight as bus stop is next to hotel so couldn't unpack everything so didn't sleep to well. Bar staff did offer to take bags in but we had to decide what to take so she left and went back to the bar. No restaurants open as it was Monday ended up having a Doner sitting on our beds. Carpets needed cleaning holes in places. Windows needed a good clean the road grim was ingrained in frames needs a net or blinds as the people on the upper deck of the bus can see in from the bus stop and the sill needed rubbing down and painting. Quite dark inside.
