Sadly may not stay again due to the very noisy floorboards
Breakfast was good. Location was suitable for our requirements. Very pleasant and helpful staff
Insanely creaky and noisy floor boards in our bedroom and particularly in the corridor which woke us up each time somebody walked by.

Very comfortable accommodation on a budget
Really convenient location, comfortable and clean. Very comfortable beds. Plenty of parking.
Very squeaky floor boards, which disturbs you when someone walks past. Bathroom lock didn't work and shower head kept falling down.

Needs revamp
Breakfast.
Uncomfortable beds with protruding springs. Early morning noise from pipes. Cardboard thin walls.
6.0 / 10.0
Provided a bed and food, albeit personally I felt somewhat overpriced. Decor feels a bit dated and ‘corporate’ with litt
It was well situated for our needs and provided free parking on site which considering the dreadful weather was useful. Bed large and very comfortable though it would have been nice to have a comfortable chair in the room. Bathroom clean and tidy, shower perfectly adequate.
Reception staff were not particularly welcoming - I appreciate they might be on the phone but if someone comes to the desk the caller can hold just for a moment whilst that client at the desk is quickly dealt with. Didn’t mind that room not serviced for less than 3 days but in fact there were no teabags in the room on our arrival. Evening meal was excellent . Breakfast (not included in the price of £289 for 3 nights) was disappointing. Club house comfortable but difficult to find a quiet area to be able to sit and chat with a family member in the afternoon due to raucous groups of guests and tv/music on in all areas.

Bit disappointing
Location, staff and food
Bedroom and room servicing. We had dog frendly room which we found poor. Small room, small bed with paper thin walls .The plumbing made awful noises every time the person in next room used the bathroom. Rooms only cleaned every 3 days?

Enjoyable as always
The Bells hotel suits all out needs. Great location friendly staff. Clubhouse is great too
The mattress in room 23 wasnt the best.. otherwise everything else was great

Good place for use to stay. We were attending a wedding at Clearwell Castle and this was a good loc
Staff friendly. The breakfast was good and plenty of choice. We also had dinner one evening which was delicious and the portions were great. Would definitely recommend eating in the restaurant. Also nice bar area to get together with friends. My husband played golf and enjoyed that. Next time I may try to use the health club facilities.
Room is a bit dated but adequate. Bed was huge and comfy. Also bit warm at night with no aircon. We were on the down stairs so ended up having to open our window but the lock was inadequate. Also no safe available in the room but the receiption staff did offer use of the main one.

Run down and tired Hotel
Nice location
Hotel run down and in state of disrepair. Dirty in places. Very cramped room.

It was ok mainly a stay for golfers but was close to the valley attractions
The room was big warm and comfortable
It was expensive to have a meal at the hotel club house and some of the staff weren’t that friendly

Super location for visiting the Wye Valley and I can recommend the food at the golf club.
Restaurant and food was excellent
Room was a little small and also there was an additional charge for the use of all of the facilities

Good value. Quiet and comfortable. Good gym
Quiet hotel. Comfy and well heated room. Good gym. Reasonable restaurant... Breakfast was standard.
Breakfast could have been better. Standard fry up and cereals.

Did the job for an overnight stay
Good breakfast . Bar staff and breafast staff good
Reception staff lacked any personality . Eventually looked up from what she was doing , . Didnt get up to welcome us . Very short . The suite didnt match my understanding of a suite. Tiny bathroom and poorly decorated.

Great location, value for money, good for a one night stay
Location
Apart from one member of staff the bar staff need more training, this is not a reflection on their capabilities, more a situation of lack of management

Disappointed
The staff were lovely great location food amazing room view and size brilliant
We never hardly slept the mattresses need throwing out we had to sleep on top of the quilt the mattresses were the worst I've ever experienced..they must be over 20yrs old definitely felt that way .pillows lumpy the walls are so thin we could here nxt door stirring the cupa they had there telly on till 2 then back on at 7 in morning it was so clear I could hear every word like it was our telly on ...not exceptable when I've booked a Premier suit .big cobwebs top of curtains bathroom tiles haven't been cleaned in a while alot of water marks all over and when you sit on loo you can clearly see ot all
...not nice ..needs a lamp in room
We were going to have a lie in and a nice breakfast with you but after being woken at 7 with a loud TV and barley any sleep we just got straight up and went home...it was my 50th bday so not a great end to it even though the evening meal was amazing

Would not stay there again or recommend to anyone else.
Clean bed linen and towels and sanitary ware cleanish.
Given poor choice of evening food, breakfast was better than I expected.
Lots! Very tatty decor, damaged doors and walls, threadbare carpet….and grubby going on filthy! Not been dusted for weeks. Hot water from BOTH taps in bathroom yet radiator in bedroom remained stubbornly cold. Not worthy of 3 star AA.
Evening menu either from fryer or curry, taco, pizza….not a vegetable in sight or any remotely healthy.

I won't make the mistake again, a booking a golf hotel! Needs to think on its image for other things
Where it was.
It was my mistake, it was a golf Hotel in the middle of the forest, forest of Dean, I thought it would be better than it was for people who weren't just interested in golf. Full of loud people only interested in golf.

A nice dog friendly hotel
Lovely dog friendly hotel & spacious clubhouse that served great food.
Staff were very helpful & nice.
Our room was a little dated decor wise & rather small for the price we paid

Good for puzzlewood but don't expect too much
Staff were nice. Great location. Plenty of parking. Nice to have decaf tea in the room as standard.
Lots of long blonde hair in plughole. Room not that clean. Tv dated, no streaming services. Bathroom fixtures dated and unsightly. Beds very hard. Duvet inside duvet cover was a weird grey colour and sheets scratchy. No bedside table on one side of the bed and no reading lamps. Electrical sockets very dated and wobbly. Also resturant photos promise a lot but don't deliver, especially for the price. The asian chicken was like rock and too dry to eat.

Disappointing, not a nice place to stay.
Very small room, dirty bath, turned cold water on in basin, very high pressure hot brown water shot out and soaked me and the whole bathroom, bath doesn't drain, reception closed so nowhere to complain to. Dirty cups, only one teaspoon in the room. Went to the bar for tea, tables all filthy, £3.50 for half a cup of hot water with a teabag and little cartons of UHT milk.
I looked though old feedback and these are all problems people have had before over a long period, so it seems that it's badly run and managed by someone who really doesn't care.

Nothing

A big disappointment and certainly not value for money.
The location was convenient for us and there was plenty of parking. The room was a reasonable size and we liked the powerful shower.
We found the reception staff disinterested and unhelpful. On arrival, we were told that we had booked a double room, but I pointed out that we had booked a suite. We were asked to pay and handed our key card with no additional information about where to find our room. The hotel website states that suites have a super king bed as well as a comfortable seating area. We had the bed, but were surprised to find electric sockets in the middle of it! There was not a comfortable seating area in our room, therefore we didn’t get what we had paid for. The hotel looks very tired and is in great need of some TLC, both in the public areas and the rooms.
We went to the club house for dinner, which was a huge mistake. The place obviously favours catering for golf club members, rather than hotel guests. We ordered our meals at the bar and asked if we could sit in the dining area, where tables were nicely set up. We were told no and to find a table in the bar area, which was noisy and unpleasant. The tables were dirty and there was food on the floor. We weren’t able to have a conversation during our meal due to the loud, male voices with language and behaviour you might expect from a working mens’ club, rather than the country club it purports to be.
We had spent the previous two nights in another hotel in the Gloucester area where the staff couldn’t do enough to help and where dining in their restaurant was a pleasure.
Needless to say, we won’t be returning to Bells Hotel.

Had a great stay in a good hotel and would stay there again.
Good location with only a short walk into Coleford - about 7 minutes - although the pavement is narrow in places. We ate out so can't comment on the food, but the golf club was very friendly for a drink. Very comfortable, quiet and spacious rooms. Adequate car parking. Easy to find.
The weather.
7.0 / 10.0
Very comfortable night's stay without a cooked breakfast.
Beds were extremely comfortable. Lovely quiet area and had a great rest.
Cooked breakfast looked very greasy. Would have liked to have had a cooked breakfast that morning for our onward travel, but had to miss out on it and just have a continental one instead, which I must say was very nice and plentyful.

Great location
Great location for many local attractions and local shops/pubs/restaurants. Very good on site restaurant and bar. Had free upgrade to king-size room. Very comfortable bed and lovely clean room. Tons of extra toiletries/teabags/milk sachets available at reception. Lots of free parking. Good breakfast choice.

Easy to find. Spacious room. Welcoming staff. Good cooked breakfast.
Found a used vape head in the room. No pastries or muffins out at breakfast.

What do you expect for £85 double including breakfast?
Plenty of parking, clean rooms,
Tv Breakfast included in the price.
Good pressure in the shower.
No USB port. Very thin walls so we were hearing other tv's, toilets and even conversations. Very poor bed and mattress. A very poor night's sleep as we were both falling to the center of the bed. Pillows were very flat and lumpy. Tractor dumping soil outside our window at 7am.

A good overnight stay on the way to Wales.
Location, friendly bar
The bed was too soft and creaky with springs
Dinner offered was pub food

Budget room and noisy guest
Price and location
Bed was quite hard, Walls are paper thin. Could hear other people snoring and the volume of other older residents in the corridor after midnight was excessive. Despite signs asking people to keep the volume down several groups were talking very loud and disturbed our sleep

The Bell Hotel is an ideal base to explore the Forest of Dean and the surrounding area. It is clean!
All the food we tasted was extremely good. The 'servers' on the first night excelled our expectations.
We found the quilts to be heavy and a little undersize for the bed.
On our final morning, food was a little slow at coming out to the servery - it didn't seem as there was much communication between the 'servers' and the kitchen.
Reception desk empty upon arrival?
Saturday morning 'servers' did not pay attention to the quests rather they stood at the bar talking and joking and when asked if they could fill up the bread box (empty) one came looking like thunder and at that point decided to fill up the juices which were also close to being empty. But that said, we did enjoy our stay!

Excellent value good quality hotel. Would go again.
Location to Forest of Dean, good value and very clean
Coach party same night as we were there. Not the hotels fault but very noisy both at night and in the morning

Th restaurant and staff
Feels very dated, pillows uncomfortable and curtains don’t block any light.

Convenient location for this trip but will not return.
Close to town centre. Nice surroundings, open spaces.
Noisy plumbing particularly at night. Do not like being woken up at 2.20am with sound of water rushing through pipes and/ or toilets filling. Very hot water which we were warned about but cold water is hot and you need to run it for a long time before it comes cold. What a waste of water. Leak on bathroom floor. This was reported at reception. Leaking bath tap.
