Good history, good location, large car park.
Reading room was cramped. Hotel could have been warmer (my stay was during a cold, windy and wet period in February)

Helpful staff and able to check out late without any problems

waitress service and bar staff - all young people had very good customer skills, polite and courteous.
Breakfast on first day - a good old fashioned 'full English' was great
buffet breakfast on 2nd day
1st evening meal in restaurant - trying too hard with menu, presentation of food was good but too many mixtures of flavours/spices hiding taste of true foods.
Waiting staff and cleaning staff (room) very polite and helpful.

Very accommodating for our large group who checked in late and left early. Breakfast starts at 7.30am, our group needed to check out early so they very kindly prepared a continental breakfast for us before we departed.

Friendly staff, good breakfasts, cosy bedroom.
Main building was a bit on the cold side though and its decor was tired and rather dated.

Good food, Staff lovely.
The shower temperature was variable and the flow poor. Shower was over bath.

There is a much better atmosphere when you eat in the casual dining area
Having to ask for sauces.
Coming down for a later breakfast staff were mainly intent on putting things away, buffet selection of cooked food had gone

The history of the hotel is very interesting particularly the Verderers Court (used as the main restaurant) and the location is second to none, right in the depths of the Forest of Dean.
The staff were charming and really helpful.
The food was really good too.
The bathroom could do with some updating though clean and useable.

I thought i had bed and breakfast but I only.had room only so next time I would check this
I thought as we where room only we might of been offered the option to add breakfast and told a price of this. But apart from that the whole experience was amazing, friendly staff, lovely surroundings and nice rooms xx

Location. At the heart of the forest.
Very low water pressure. Just a trickle. Overall, in need of renovations.

Room had cobwebs and no heating or air con .

Location good, room ideal as we had dogs

The bar was efficiently managed, the Orangerie/y was a pleasant place to have dinner. Some serving staff in the Orangerie were exceptional. Appreciated the visitors' friendly dogs!
Breakfast coffee from the urn is exceptionally weak. The Verderers' court is rather dark and is in need of redecoration. The fish in the "fish'n chips" was more batter than fish. The Reception area needs a rethink.

It’s a nice property with antique interior and good food options. Breakfast was good
- Room was untidy, small and really uncomfortable.
- Bathroom shower area had lot of mould and stains.
- walls had spider webs
- TV was so tiny and was creating lot of mess. Since TV was placed on the only table available in the room, it took all the space and we had no place to keep our own stuff.
- rooms walls were just plaster boards, therefore there wasn’t any sound proof. Everything happening or every conversation in the next room was so loud and clear

The location and the history behind the property. Beautiful grounds.
There was t anything we didn’t like. Would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the bedrooms.

All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food at dinner was excellent. there was a problem with our shower, and it was immediately dealt with very effectively.
Only a couple of minor things. There could have been more fruit at breakfast, and I would have preferred freshly made coffee.

The place has a lot of character and it is very well located with lots of things to do right on the doorstep. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I have a severe nut allergy and the staff made sure the food I ordered was nut free. The rooms were very nicely presented and a good size, I stayed in one of the cottage rooms. The bed was very comfy and a good size. The room came with tea/ coffee making facilities, hairdryer and toiletries. I had the best time away (could have easily stayed for longer). I would definitely go back again. Thank you to all the staff at Speech House for making my stay really enjoyable and the perfect little getaway.

The Hotel was very welcoming and Orangery Restaurant and garden very pleasing.
Courtyard room in small cottage upstairs. Stairs steep and narrow. Room too small. Beds pushed up against walls. Small single wardrobe had a fan heater, a convector heater and very large umbrella in it! It was positioned at foot of bed and only limited space to open door.

Excellent
It was not possible but a larger room would have been nice. Never the less we were comfortable.
