The kitchen is well equipped for simple meals in and looks out onto the courtyard garden. The dining nook is a lovely spot for late breakfasts or relaxed dinners, with dimmable lighting to help soften the atmosphere.

The lounge looks out onto the peaceful square, with St John’s Church opposite. In cooler months, the log burner brings warmth to the space after a day exploring. There’s also a fleece blanket ready for curling up with a film, a book or a cup of tea.

The bedroom is simple and calming, with soft linens and everything ready for a comfortable stay. The bedroom lights are also on a dimmer switch, and there’s an en-suite with a relaxing rain-head shower.

Outside Space

The enclosed courtyard garden gives you your own outdoor space to enjoy during your stay.

There’s seating for morning coffee, a BBQ for easy meals outside, and a private hot tub for unwinding after woodland walks, lake visits or scenic drives through the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.

The Area

Casita Lodge is set on the edge of town, with a corner shop, two local pubs and a nature trail leading to woodland walks all within walking distance. At twilight, local wildlife sometimes passes through the square.

It’s a lovely area for walking, cycling, canoeing, scenic drives and slower days outside. There’s local heritage too, with steam railways, mines and caves to explore, along with wildlife safaris, local crafts and plenty of outdoor activities within easy reach.

You’ll also find places to eat nearby, from relaxed pub meals and cosy cafés to afternoon teas and restaurants for a meal that feels a little more special. For something a little different, Harts Barn Cookery School also offers a hire-a-chef service, which guests can arrange directly with them.

A car is recommended for making the most of the wider Forest of Dean, Wye Valley, viewpoints, activities and places to eat.
