A great stay that served all our needs.

We had a lovely welcome by the landlady who checked if everything was well during the course of our walking weekend in the area. The room was perfect for our needs being clean and comfortable.

Very nice rooms and customer focussed staff.

I visit Monmouth and go to the Savoy Theatre whenever I can. When I do, I usually drive back and forth on the same night. However I think that could change. I’ve been to the Punch House before but never stayed there; I’ve just popped in for a pre-theatre tipple. To begin with, the room I had was very clean and comfortable and most certainly as nice as any hotel or pub room in which I’ve stayed over the many years I’ve been on this planet and the bathroom was a lot bigger than many places in which I’ve stayed . Secondly, the staff are extremely pleasant and customer focussed and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Good town hotel for a stopover

The room was comfortable and quiet. We slept well The Punch house was well situated for what we were doing, exploring Monmouth and the area The staff were friendly and helpful and made a fuss of our dog

One drawback to the hotel is it has no car park of its own but there is town carpark nearby and luckily we did not have much luggage The menu was not very interesting but the food was plentiful

Great stay - excellent location - lovely staff - breakfast exceptional

Deluxe double room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Facilities were good from toiletries to tea/coffee. The stay was really good. Great location too. Breakfast in the morning was exceptional. I would 100% recommend.

WIFI was unreliable. That's the only small issue but managed without.

Good location. Friendly welcome.

Room was very cramped. Barely room to walk around the beds. Bathroom was basic. Shower head not attached to pole. Bedding was clean but room was not. Many cobwebs in bathroom - see photo. Flooring dirty - hair, dust, mud.

Pleasant stay, good location

Great location, pay and display car park out the back, rooms above the popular Pub in the main square of Monmouth.

Disappointed that during our stay we couldn’t get breakfast due to a pre booking they had - would have been good to know before arrival so we could make alternative arrangements.

Two nights with the dog to explore Monmouth

Location and views from Room 3 of the busy streets of Monmouth. Brilliant for the dog, with recommended walking almost on the doorstep! It was also handy to have a small fridge and the staff were welcoming from the start!

Reduced food availability, without telling us, apparently due to staff shortages. We tried to eat twice during our short stay and were let down twice! Thank heaven for the Wetherspoons opposite! No offer of room being serviced during our stay, just little things like topping up the coffee. The room was small, it could do with some furniture being removed (e.g. too many chairs for the space!)

Lovely stay in a great location with friendly, helpful staff.

Stayed two nights, room was nicely decorated, very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were all friendly and helpful, especially Vic who runs the pub/hotel. The location is great, right in the centre of beautiful/historical Monmouth Town.

We had a very hot night during a heatwave even with the fan on, 99% of the year would not be a problem! Kitchen was closed for dinner, breakfast only opened from 8h30

Perfect location for a stop over stay! Lovely inn keepers!

This building is perfect! It’s decorated according to its name, it’s clean, the atmosphere is wonderful, the beds are comfortable, I can’t say enough about this location. The staff will go above and beyond to make your stay perfect!

One night visit to family.

Beautiful room once we eventually got the twin we had booked. Lovely staff and comfortable beds. Lovely double shower cubicle with toiletries provided. Good water pressure and temperature. We didn't eat or drink there.

The sink has a shelf above and the taps barely fit so it is hard to use. Not sure who designed it but it needs a rethink.

Room was large and airy, with a large window onto Agincourt Square, so lovely view. Central Monmouth, but despite this traffic noise was low. Very handy for the main shopping area, the castle, and for exploring the side streets and the very fine bridge.

Clean and modern room. Comfortable bed. Excellent shower.

The staff and especially the lady in charge was quite exceptional. She was really on the ball from start to finish. We had an evening meal and sat out on the square in the sunshine. Nicely cooked and well presented. Huge breakfast which arrived with speedy efficiency.

Lovely place to stay

Lovely room and nice to have a refrigerator in the warm weather! We were right above the extremely noisy outdoor dining patio, but all fell quiet around 10 pm and we had no trouble sleeping. Great location in the heart of Monmouth. Enjoyed visiting with the hotel dog "Hugo" at breakfast.

Dispointing .

We liked the position of the hotel and the pub was busy and the outside sitting space v nice and sociable .

The room was cramped. Not much space to put anything, and the space around the bed very limited. We had to dance round each other to get into the bathroom as the door was so close to the bed. Breakfast menu was limited and very uninspiring. Probably would not stay here again. It wasn’t cheap.

Nice place just the noise is next level

The hotel was really nice very clean the staff where brilliant the bed was comfortable

The noise was unbelievable it starts around 5am barrels being moved outside The traffic noise is so bad the other guests come past the room slamming the main door we where in room 2 so it was next to the main door it’s all you hear all night we Where There 2 nights with no sleep due to this :(

The lady who checked us in was friendly, and the bed was comfortable. Complimentary water .

The room we were given was disappointing, I booked a Deluxe Double room that cost £90, but what we got was far from it. The room was small, hot and very stuffy, I am 5'2" and could touch the ceiling, my husband who is 6'4" was just about able to walk in the main part of the room, but there was a beam across the room that was directly in front of the bathroom and I could only just fit under it without ducking. My husband hit his head several times. The room wasn't particularly clean, the toilet was stained, there were lots of short hairs in the bath and the mugs were very tea stained, we would definitely not recommend that room, number 10. As we were only there for one night and basically just to sleep, we didn't complain, but wouldn't return.
